NOTE: The Ender 5 Plus requires a new display (at this time) to upgrade to this board. Please see my other Ender 5 Plus videos using Bigtreetech boards. ALSO NOTE: There are many reports of people having problems using this board with the stock BLTouch on the Ender 5 Plus. It does not happen to everyone. It did not happen when I tested it myself. The only known POTENTIAL fixes are switching to a CRTouch, switching to Klipper, or there has been a case of just needing to update the touchscreen firmware to the latest. With that being said, I CANNOT and DO NOT recommend this board on the Ender 5 Plus at this time. There are too many people having these issues and, while I've improved it in my latest 2.1.1 firmware, I have not been able to provide a fix for this issue. So far it appears to be an electrical issue that software has not been able to work around.
I was talking a rep at Microcenter, and he stated that if you change the BL touch to use the 5 pin Z probe, and change the firmware, it will fix the issue. Have you tried this?
did this upgrade on one of two of my ender 5 plus'. its currently running its first print and doing a beautiful job. thank you for making these videos!!! cant wait to flip my other printer, still undecided which board im going to run
What firmware did you use? Asking because I used the firmware he gave for Ender 5 Plus with BLtouch hooked onto the z-step And my Z homes and stats at 7 instead of Z. Kinda don’t know if it’s a firmware issue or if it is a me saving Z home issue…
Thank you for providing the compiled firmware. I had trouble with my ender 5 pro and the skr mini e3, I almost gave up on it and bought a creality board. I thought my prints were being underextruded but my problem was the Z screw on my old ender 5 pro is different from the newer ones. My lead screw had 4 starts and the provided firmware was built for a printer with the updated 2 start lead screw. Change your steps/mm for the Z axis from 800 to 400 and you'll be printing normally or change the lead screw to the new design.
I cant thank you enough. I just bought this board to replace the original Creality noisy board I have in my Ender 5 Plus with a BL Touch. So much easier when you do the firmware for the community!
My printer got unsusable because it keeps trying to print outside the board, how is this possible? I thought this would be plug and play. All the wires are in the right place, first it homes and then it makes the test line on the other side of the bed, it makes no sense, tried to compile marlin but it also does not help. It like it is reading the gcode of the slicer wrong.
I know its way to latr, But, you have propably plugged the stepper motor in the wrong Direction , if you dont want to change the wires, just put a ! Before the pin of the stepper . Cheers
15:22 - I believe you are not correct about this. The Ender 5 Plus with bltouch does not have a Z-stop connector at all. I got really confused that I couldn't find one. The two-pin jst connector from the bltouch (black and white wires) does not connect here at all. It appears to need to connect to the 5-pin bltouch/probe connector on the SKR Mini e3 v3, along with the other three orange/red/brown bltouch wires on a separate connector. Thanks for the video!
@@kerseyfabshey man, I have installed your ender5plus firmware, thanks for that! I’ve got the stock bltouch… should I connect the 2pin z stop (black/white wires) or the z probe (brown, red, orange)? I know as you updated in the first comment that it might not work at all though… the bltouch seem generally alive on startup, when both of them connected, but it won’t extend its probe thingy when homing…
@@kerseyfabs I appreciate you replying to threads. I have a ender 5 plus with a bl touch & added the tft35 with a v3.0.1 - Using the firmware you provided, "SKR Mini E3 V3.0 - Ender 5 Plus - BLTouch connected to Probe" My z-axis is reversed, up is down and down is up in the touch UI. I did in the probe in wire order (white, black, orange, red, brown) and also tried (black, white, orange, red, brown) but z-axis is still reversed. My auto leveling also doesn't work which I figure is a downstream result of the reversed z-axis. Not sure what's wrong, maybe I need to reverse the (white, black, brown, red, orange) order as well for the probe?
do you have a pre compiled firmware that covers the bl touch and a filament sensor wired to the SKR E3 mini V 3.0? using the EO stop port on the board? I am upgrading a basic Ender 5 (no plus or pro)
BTW - that new link you gave to the pre made JST connectors are for 1.25mm JST connectors (refers to the inter-pin distance) - the plugs that are required are 2.54mm (TBF they do look identical in the picture, but having tried to make up the 2.54mm ones I hate to think how difficult making the 1.25mm ones are). They are available on amazon if you look (although I had to buy 50) - I won't include the link because I'm in the UK.
Unless they changed the TFT 35 V3 E3 - If you use the knob that came with it you should have a lighted knob that you can change the color of. Sorry if you already knew.
Hi, I noticed in the comments you said the Ender 5 Plus requires a new display (at this time) to upgrade to this board? Is that still valid? Can I not use the stock display with the SKR Mini E3 V3.0?
@@kerseyfabs The correct configuration for a E5+ is TFT35 V3 not a TFT35 E3 V3 + SKR Mini E3 right? Also, could you elaborate on what Z alignment feature I'd be missing? Like is that something the original E5+ board has? Sorry for all the questions!
Thank you! This helped me a lot! I had a problem with the direction of the motors. They functioned in the opposite direction as I wanted them to. After loading the firmware to my Ender 5, everything was just fine! Thank you!
Kris, I had a follow up comment. First, my Ender 5 Plus is stock as it ships with just the BL Touch auto bed leveling feature factory installed. I haven't modified it in any way other than replacing the stock main board with the Creality silent version board. And that leads to my experience with those silent boards. I installed both that later failed. They both worked flawlessly initially. The first worked for a couple months, and it successfully completed dozens of prints, and it failed appearing to be a problem with homing and seemed to be a problem with the BL Touch, but ended up actually being the silent board that had failed. The second one only worked for a couple weeks, and just failed today with the z-drive crapping out. The z steppers check out okay, so the growling and slow attempts at motion are surely caused by the driver failing. I attempted to adjust the stepper operating voltage, but that didn't solve the problem, thus I ordered the BTT SKR Mini E3 V3.0 and am here asking for your help.
I replied to the emails you sent. I'll do my best to answer your questions. The BTT SKR Mini E3 V3.0 is a drop-in replacement and firmware installation should be easy. The only thing that is extra is that I don't support the stock display with my firmware. There are several technical reasons for this but, bottom line, it's not supported. So you will have to replace the display with one like the BTT TFT35. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Awesome video. I like you step by step guides on upgrades. I ordered mine. I want to swop my stock ender 5 mother board for 2 reasons. noise and I want to make use of linear advance. I wanted to hear has linear advance been activated in the firmware in you description? Further, I see the is no examples of ender 5 in the marlin config files. I am sure a few people are not so clued up on creating a custom marlin firmware build (or maybe its just me). Do you mind doing a tutorial? Regards.
Yes, Linear Advance is enabled in my firmware. You just need to calibrate and set your K value. I know a lot of people want that tutorial. I'll see what I can do.
@@kerseyfabs Any update on that marlin firmware tutorial? I would love to dive deeper into this firmware and possibly even customize it a bit, but I'm new to the whole idea of compiling and customizing firmware. Thanks!!
Upgraded my new Ender 5 Plus with Bigtreetech Mini E3 V3.0: and TFT35 V3.0 this week and have spent hours disassembling and reassembling rerouting BLtouch cables and recompiling firmware and FINALLY have it doing auto bedlevel much more consistently. It seems that the V3 board has some issues with ADAPTIVE STEP SMOOTHING in configuration.h being enabled on this board The symptoms were not completing a full bed level and erroring out both in Marlin Mode and TFT Touch mode On Marlin forum it has been noted for a while that this seems to be an issue I run a V2 board and TFT without any issues on ender 3 but ender 5 had me beat I post this here in the hope it may save someone else the frustration that i have had Luckily i am a software and hardware nut and could imagine a new upgrader being really frustrated It would be a good ide to release this mod as a binary for others who have the same issues Be aware i am not guaranteeing this will fix all problems but it fixed mine
I'm going to do this same upgrade to my CR-10S. So thanks for the details about how to make this happen. You and Chris Riley put out good content like this. Keep up the good work.
I have the new mini v3 in my ender 3 pro for a few months now. I got it right around when it came out. It's pretty flawless. I absolutely love it. Great price too. Getting rid of my ender 3 pro and upgrading to an ender 5 pro. 100% swapping my v3 board into my new ender 5.
@@twiztid664 I had the 4.2.2 board originally as well. Do it. Totally worth it. Stil been running strong zero issues. But it's not a simple plug and play. The only things that sucked is that for my CR touch I had to swap two of the wires in the JST connector for it to work on the board. Wasn't hard at all super easy but figuring out why it wasn't working was a pain at first but there's a really good guide online that explains all the pinouts on the board for you. Just had to look up which color wires were what on my cr touch. Same thing would go for ther BL touch as well. And ontop of that the firmware that came out for the SKR mini v3 at the time just wasn't working right. So I had to compile my own firmware which again wasn't hard but annoying as hell. After those 2 things though it's been flawless. Beautiful prints and my printer is insanely quiet now. Worth every penny. Again these issues were when it first came out so I'm sure the current firmware is all fixed and you won't need to compile your own anymore. Overall I'd recommend it over the 4.2.2 board for sure. And the mini v3 price is good.
You got a video ready for using the OG with the Ender 5 plus? It's available via using the Klipper firmware currently, with a minor rewire of the cable from what I've read, just not any video showing it that I've found yet!
You took too long so I've compiled it myself, all working now :) Will share the file with whoever. Need to create a walkthrough for everyone next so they can do the LCD cable wiring correctly and how to flash the LCD controller with the required update. It's honestly not too difficult, and people would appreciate a video on what to do (I'm a text based person, so not me :P )
CR-10S: My bed stopped heating, so I replaced the connectors and it still doesn't heat. Now I have an SKR Mini E3 V3.0 and Touch Screen on it's way! I also ordered the Ferrule Kit; thanks for making me understand why those are important 🤘🤘
my new ender 5 pro is stuck on blue screen after firmware update from creality site.... cant get ahold of them so i am hooking this board up now. funny how faulty these printers are for such a simple design.... oh and expensive lol
I found out, after spending $300+, that it was a $10 MOSFET that needed to be replaced... Regardless, it's 5 years old, so I'm happy to have a "new" system 🤘🤘
@fatboy1271 I just got a printer (ender 10 5s) from someone who put this board in but used a "modded ender 5 pro" file... does that make sense to you?? I have 3 other enders (Ender 3 pro, ender 5 pro and ender 5 plus that are pretty much stock -except for silent motherboard upgrade) and this 105s is so confusing
Hi there im just wondering if you can do an updated video for the ender 5 plus . I have two wires (b/r) from the mofeset and two solid red wire which i think are the nozzles heaters and no idea where they go.
I don't plan to do another video on this but I'm happy to help. The two from the MOSFET go to the bed heater on the board. The red is positive. The two solid red thick wires go to the hotend heater. Polarity doesn't matter on those. Be sure to check out my video on the E3 Mini V2 which should be almost identical.
As I mention in the description and the comments, I no longer recommend this board for the Ender 5 Plus due to issues with the BLTouch. Stick with the V2: amzn.to/47DZtKw As you saw, I do have a full video on that one.
If possible please update the video to clearly call out that this board is not compatible with the Ender 5 plus it requires a display upgrade to work. BigTree says it is compatible on their site but does not call clearly out this isssue and does not give any guidance on what displays will work with the Ender 5 plus.
@8:53 you mentioned the 5th driver could do a auto left & right level on the z axis with Marlin. In what scenario would this be helpful and should that be a deal breaker to buying a SKR3 vs Mini SKR3 e3 v3.0 for Ender 5 PLUS?
Realistically you need 5 drivers because independent dual z -> less fiddle more print. 3 controllable fans. Skr turbo on my ender. I am 34% sure heater and thermistor polarities dont matter.
I like the feature but it's not like I use it much. Unless I hit something or move it, it usually doesn't need it. For those that don't want to cut up their case, this is an easy solution on the Ender 5 Plus. You're right on polarities but on some beds polarity matters. If you see two different colored wires, assume they mean it.
Great video! I did the upgrade on my Ender 5 pro . Having a hard time getting the firmware to update to Ender 5 pro . It’s on Ender 3 ?! Is there a video on how to load the firmware on the printer?
1) Download my firmware from the description for your printer configuration. 2) Rename the file to firmware.bin and copy it to the SD card that came with the board. 3) Insert it in the mainboard when it's powered down. 4) Power on the printer and it should automatically flash it. 5) You can verify it by the info on the display or making sure the file was renamed to firmware.cur.
I am upgrading my Ender 5 Plus with the SKR mini e5 v3 with the TFT35 v3.0.1 and the CRTouch. The firmware here in the .bin file actually connects the controller to the LCD, but I need to make some tweaks for the neo-pixel and motor voltage. If I try using the currently Marlin and creality configurations I get the "No Printer Attached" message. I made sure that the bad rates were matched up between the LCD screen and the controller. Do you happen to have the source configurations used for the Ender 5 Plus?
nice one thanks again iam looking at few cards atm makes me smile there are so much more these days i like it but at same time ... thats coool oh this one 2 or this one nah this one :)) May i ask your opinion whats is like 2023 best way for ender 5 plus i got trust in it but it needs a better board Table design and some tricks should make it really good and fast machine I saw more so i gonna look it again still i like a challange and allot of options but especially Quallity i rather do it slow if its better in the end May i ask what card did give you best result in the ender 5 plus mr kersey and gives me at same time nice options like double triple extruders :)) still thanks this kind of video's helps allot in choices and now i am less scared and dare to put out some money in it greets from holland keep it up
I have a extra 3 wire plug with no marking on it that went to a 3 pin plug marked x under where display wire goes (red/black/yellow) not sure where to plug in my other x wires plugged in my printer Ender 5 Plus
Kris, awesome video and thanks for providing the links for the firmware, I was pulling my hair out trying to find firmware for the Ender 5+ with BLTouch that was preconfigured and compiled for the SKR Mini E3 V3.0. For the most part this firmware is working great, but I've had a couple of weird issues I was wondering if you could help me with? Occasionally when I go to make a change like adjust Z Probe offset or adjust bed temp or something else while a print is going it won't adjust and I'll get an error that it's "busy". I've also had an issue a couple times where my Z offset or bed level settings weren't saved from the last time the printer was used after I turned it off, and when I tried to print after turning it on again it rammed the bed into the nozzle and gouged my PEI plate. I know I saved those settings into the EPROM before it was powered down and I got notification that they were saved successfully, so I'm not sure why it would do that. Also, my Z up and down works normally when printing, but in the 'Move' menu when moving the Z axis manually, Z up and down are flipped. Otherwise the firmware is working fine, I've not had any issues with the BLTouch or bed leveling during normal use or printing, just the issue I described where it didn't seem to save my Z offset settings. Any ideas? Thanks again for all you do!!
My E3 Turbo is cooking my steppers is this a better option? I run the SKR 2 in my CR10S and have never had an issue with that board. I suspect the E3 Turbo was rushed to market... How has been the long term reliability with the newer board.
Yeah, I really like this board but they've discontinued it. I assume the overheating is why. I've seen no reports of issues on the SKR 2 or SKR 3. I've been using the SKR 2 for a while now.
I recommend buying a multipack. There are up to three different gauges usually and buying the kit with the crimper is the easiest to get started. I have a video on applying ferrules which includes links. ruclips.net/video/l7mxGVF-QGE/видео.html
I just did this in a Sovol SV05 which started with a Creality 4.2.2 board, I wanted TMC2209 stepper drivers so installed the BTT SKR Mini E3 V3.0. All of my issues were firmware based I burned up a CR Touch because I thought it was electrical, it turned out to be firmware. I replaced the CR Touch with a BL Touch. Ended up building Marlin from scratch.
Hi, I'm following your instructions for replacing my stock board with the BTT 3.0 for ender 5 plus. Ive connected all of the leads but dont know where the filament detector lead fits. Where do I fit the connector for the filament detector?
@@kerseyfabs Thanks for the help. I have another problem. The BTT mini 3.0 doesn't work with the stock screen on the Ender 5 Plus. The only LCD I can find for the mini 3.0 is the TFT35 E3 V3.0.1 which does not fit the Ender 5 plus. How did you resolve this with your Ender 5 Plus?
I have a Ender 5 plus and i have a new board, the SKR 2. But compiling software for this thing keeps erroring out. Is there a way i can hope for your help? You seem to be the most knowledgeable about these boards. Thank you for sharing these videos :)
@@kerseyfabs Thank you for the fast answer. And great video content. It is because of you i have startet upgrading my 3D printer, lots of help in your videos. I have managed to compile the firmware myself now finally thanks to your video. Again thank you for your help :)
One big thing you left out was the new firmware thats needed for the Ender 5 Plus touchscreen to make it function with the Marlin v2 firmware. There is a whole new DWIN file set needed to get full functionality.
@@kerseyfabs is that because of sponsorships or another reason? I'm making a DWIN set to go with the stock touchscreen based off Jay Aristide's build. I just don't have the cash to throw at a new screen when the stock one works fine.
@@mech13 Nope. No sponsorship here. No financial reason at all. I just don't like it, so I don't want to make a video on it. If there's a DWIN solution that gives me all of the features and control of a Marlin interface, including M600 support, I'd be happy to look into it. Traditionally the support has been very lacking.
@@kerseyfabs stop the clock. Are you saying that the only way to get M600 to work on the E5P is with a new screen? Obviously this doesn't include working off octopi / octoprint because it works with octoprint even on your marlin 1.7.3BL
I realize you can probably do that with an OctoPrint plugin but many of my viewers are not interested in adding an additional layer to their printer. I get so many messages, emails, and comments asking how to get M600/pause at layer working on a stock Ender 5 Plus. If you know how to do this with an updated DWIN firmware, I'd be down to making a video on it.
Hi! I downloaded the bin file for my ender 5 plus but when I try to home the axis, it's going the wrong direction, it tries to home to the negative side, not the positive where the end stops are located. It also says ender 3 as the printer name. I have tried but failed to build a file for weeks, this is Soo annoying. I found your file and thought it was the one.. maybe i will install klipper instead because it seems to be only trouble when mixing these boards and marlin... I like your content by the way! Keep it up!
It didn't install correctly. Give this a shot: 1) Download my firmware from the description for your printer configuration.
I downloaded the firmware for my Ender five plus. However, I keep getting the error of Failed to enable bed leveling. I try to turn on the BL touch, it goes to the limit switches, goes to the middle and then the bed drops down about 40 mm and then errors out. This is my only issue with going forward with printing again.
You have two errors here. First, make sure your black/white BLTouch wire is connected correctly. That should hopefully fix probing. The "Failed to enable bed leveling" just means you haven't run a mesh (ABL) yet.
If you're having problems flashing: - It may require an 8GB or smaller SD card. - Make sure it's formatted FAT32. - Under Windows in the file manager, click "View" in the menu bar. Make sure "File name extensions" is checked otherwise you may be renaming the file "firmware.bin.bin"
I won't be doing a dedicated video on that. Between this video and my upgrade video on the Mini E3 V2.0, I think it's covered. Right now I don't support any Bigtreetech board with the stock display but the BLtouch works with all of them. I am working on some new firmware with the stock screen but it's not ready yet.
@@kerseyfabs thank you. I have my Amazon shopping cart with the Mini and the new screen for the E5+ … just torn about whether I want to go through the hassle of the case mods. I haven’t had bed leveling issues in over 1 year and thinking of buying another printer or Mosaic Palette if I wanted color/extra extruder…
Do you recommend backing up the EEPROM from our old board and loading it once the new board and firmware is installed? Or is it better to write down the values from the old board and manually enter them into the new one? My board arrives today and I'm trying to do some prep work.
At 17:07 I show the wiring diagram for it. I've heard of some people having to replace the connector. Also be sure to check the firmware file information in the description on where to plug in the black/white wire.
@@kerseyfabs Thanks. It seems that the firmware I need is somewhere in between! My machine is a E5 Pro with the BLTouch configured in conjunction with the Z-stop. Your firmware for the 5 Pro is either "No BLTouch" or "BLTouch connected to Probe". Thoughts?
17:05 should get you going. Pay attention to the download information though, some configurations I hook the black/white to the probe pins and some to the Z-stop pins.
Hi did you ever get this working with the Ender 5 Plus correctly I have the board and unsure whether to invest in the BTT Screen, I have the BLtouch on my Ender 5 Plus
I can"t get the bl touch work , i"m using yr firmware ,it ll home but the probe wont pop out so my nozzle crashes to the bed bud self test probe is ok, changed the probe as in manual and still nothing on ender 5
This got got me working , but now my printer has the home set to the bottom left corner instead of the top right and it constantly tries to run off the side of the build plate. Any advice? I am new to this as this was given to me. edited to add ender 5 pro
Make sure that the firmware flashed correctly. It should show the version you downloaded on the boot screen or the info screen. If that's correct, go into the configuration menu and init the EEPROM again to make sure you clear any old settings.
Could this be installed in a CR-10 V3? I have searched YT & Google but only found hints that it should be but no where to find where to change the size of the bed & height? Clipper would be fantastic & should be quite easy beside sorting out the parameters for the extra Z.
Testing your firmware, it's not got the Z offset wizard turned on so I want to compile my own firmware. On the marlin and BTT GitHub repos I can't find the ender 5 config files for the SKR Mini E3 V3. Are you able to let us know where you found them or upload them?
I've just Installed the SKR Mini E3 V3 and TFT50 On my 5 plus with bl touch. What a nightmare. Started with leveling issues, then filament detector issues. Worked on marlin 2.1.1 for 3 days but got it working with bl touch connected to 5 pin input. Filament detector still not working. tried FD plugged into tft50 but keep getting errors, found it set to off in screen firmware. Tried to enable in marlin and get a build error. will keep trying but done with BTT.
BTT is definitely a DIY solution. The troubles you're describing don't seem to be a problem with the BTT products. I have a 2.1.1 build available. Check my RUclips community page or Facebook page.
I followed your video to get the board going...THANK YOU. It looked like you had a Pi on this printer. Do you know how I can use Octoprint with this board?
@@kerseyfabs I tried and the pi does not recognize it. I read something about jumpers needed for the port to work with a pi. Can you let me Kim’s what you have set up so I can try to duplicate?

By Any chance do you have one. In your video you also to refer to correct connection to BL Touch as Z-Stop. Will you please point to the video or instruction (to do this in the correct polarity). Thank you once again for great work and thank you in advance for your answers.
This board only has one Z stepper driver with two connections that are electrically the same. I have tested it in my Ender 5 Plus but it won't drive the Zs separately.
@@kerseyfabs People have converted the extra E driver to an extra Z driver with firmware and run both leadscrews independently so they can run G-34 in the start code to level the bed gantry each print
There's not an extra E driver. There's only four steppers on the board for X, Y, Z, and E. Show me how they did it since it doesn't appear to be technically possible.
A drop of denatured alcohol (mineral spirits) will debond hot glue quickly. Give a few moments to wick in, you will be amazed. Do keep in mind that it is flammable so only use with power disconnected.
How would one compile firmware for marlin? Yours will load onto my Ender 5 Plus w/ bl touch connected to the probe, but the print dimentions are that of the smaller bed
You don't need to recompile. That's a problem with the touchscreen. Update to the latest touchscreen firmware. github.com/bigtreetech/BIGTREETECH-TouchScreenFirmware#firmware-update If that doesn't work, look at the config file: github.com/bigtreetech/BIGTREETECH-TouchScreenFirmware#configuration If you want to verify what I'm telling you, try using the Marlin interface by holding down the button for a few seconds.

Hi Kris, just a quick question, should your firmware for the Ender 5 Plus work with the stock touchscreen display? I just got my BTT SKR Mini-E3 V3.0 and all I connected was the power and the screen (after I turned the socket for the screen 180 degrees, since the screen remained blank initially) and the SD card with your firmware (named firmware.bin) but all I see is the boot-screen with the progress bar (which does not progress). After I reboot the printer without the SD card, I get the same thing but the FIRMWARE.BIN is renamed to FIRMWARE.CUR. Hope you can help me out here. Thanx.

I have the same setup like you Ender 5 PRO, the V3 board but with 3D Touch as well. I cannot get the z homing or autolevel to work. X and Y move OK, but Z only goes down and then up but the touch pin does not deploy. If I do the BLtoucg test through the menu all works ok, like pin test, deploy and return. I have tried with a Creality CR touch - same thing. I have tried plugging the black/white wire to the Z switch on the pcb but it does not deploy the pin then. Could you please point out what to look for?
How do you enable the sd slot on the BTT Mini E3 V3.0 ? This is my second one that came that way. I returned the first one because I thought it was defective but the replacement is the same. No sd slot function. The system doesn't even see the slot on it's own. Board. Also just like the first hoard it says no printer attached. I really need some help please. I've contacted BTT and they are useless. They don't even respond. Please help me. My printer has been down for 4.5 months and I tired of the frustration. Thank you.
@@kerseyfabs Well have you ever felt like a total idiot. I'm there now. For whatever reason I had the TFT plugged into the wrong serial port. What an idiot. Just goes to show that even us so called old and wise can make some pretty stupid mistakes. And I made a big one. I still heeded to do a lot more playing with firmware and the such but it would have gone a lot faster had I noticed that mistake. However, I still appreciate your responding and trying to help. That was very kind of you. Thank you. I'm now doing some fine tuning for nozzle distance from the bed and a couple other minor things but at least everything now functions as they should. Again, thank you so much for your help. Have a great day and keep up the great videos.
Kersey needs your help, I connected the same board to an ender 5 + printer with bltouch, in response I get an error on the screen "failed to enable bed leveling", did you have this? how did you deal with it?
@kerseyfabs no my main power cables or half the size lol i thought maybe i had the wrong wires but no there 100% the ones that were used prior. They look lkke speaker wires
is it possible to connect a chamber temp censor on this board? im using the tft50 v3 with this board and i like to see the temp in chamber i have a thermoster extra i can use so where can i connect this on the board
What do you recommend instead?
I recommend the SKR 2 or SKR 3 (just released beta firmware) at this time. The SKR 2 has been running great in my printer.
whick kind of problem with bltouhc?
I was talking a rep at Microcenter, and he stated that if you change the BL touch to use the 5 pin Z probe, and change the firmware, it will fix the issue. Have you tried this?
Supported now for ender 5 plus on multiple firmwares off the e3 mini v3
did this upgrade on one of two of my ender 5 plus'. its currently running its first print and doing a beautiful job. thank you for making these videos!!! cant wait to flip my other printer, still undecided which board im going to run

Did you get the TFT35 V3 board from the link?
@@peterhe3746 I caught the Tft70 on sale on fabreeko🤘🏼
Hey man ! where did you get the firmware?
What firmware did you use? Asking because I used the firmware he gave for Ender 5 Plus with BLtouch hooked onto the z-step
And my Z homes and stats at 7 instead of Z.
Thanks for the feedback!
I cant thank you enough. I just bought this board to replace the original Creality noisy board I have in my Ender 5 Plus with a BL Touch. So much easier when you do the firmware for the community!
I'm happy I could help.
So his firmware works out the box for the e5plus?
Just ordered a new Mini 3.0 for my E5 Plus using your link. This was the exact video I was looking for. Thank you!
Glad I could help!
Cheers
The link to the software for the big tree tech v.2 marlin?
Here's a link to my source for an older Marlin version: github.com/KerseyFabrications/Marlin/tree/2.1.1-BTT-SKR-mini-E3-2.0-Ender5Plus
The 2-pin connector can go to the probe connector OR the z endstop connector, depending on how you have it configured in Marlin.
@@aryez91 I usually put where to connect it in the filename or in the video. Let me know what you find. It's been a while.
Thanks
You're welcome!
do you have a pre compiled firmware that covers the bl touch and a filament sensor wired to the SKR E3 mini V 3.0? using the EO stop port on the board?
Yes, that's true on the E3 version but not on the non-E3 version.
Hi, I noticed in the comments you said the Ender 5 Plus requires a new display (at this time) to upgrade to this board? Is that still valid? Can I not use the stock display with the SKR Mini E3 V3.0?
You cannot right now. It may be possible in the future but it will still need rewiring most likely.

No problem!
Thank you! This helped me a lot! I had a problem with the direction of the motors. They functioned in the opposite direction as I wanted them to. After loading the firmware to my Ender 5, everything was just fine!
Thank you!
Thanks for mentioning the friction fit for the SD card. I wasn’t sure if my SD slot was broken or if the friction fit was purposeful.
No problem. I think they had too many broken SD slots with the old one, so they changed it.
Nice thorough video as usual. 4K really helps to see more details. Also thanks for the new firmware files!
Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad the production upgrades are not only visible but useful!

Thank you for the support!
It seems that the V3 board has some issues with ADAPTIVE STEP SMOOTHING in configuration.h being enabled on this board
The symptoms were not completing a full bed level and erroring out both in Marlin Mode and TFT Touch mode
On Marlin forum it has been noted for a while that this seems to be an issue
I run a V2 board and TFT without any issues on ender 3 but ender 5 had me beat
I post this here in the hope it may save someone else the frustration that i have had
Luckily i am a software and hardware nut and could imagine a new upgrader being really frustrated
It would be a good ide to release this mod as a binary for others who have the same issues
Be aware i am not guaranteeing this will fix all problems but it fixed mine
I'm going to do this same upgrade to my CR-10S. So thanks for the details about how to make this happen. You and Chris Riley put out good content like this. Keep up the good work.
Another great video, Kris. Meticulous, as usual. Complete with blooper reel. Thanks so much for this.

How that go?. I'm thinking of swapping my creality 4.2.2 board for the skr
How did you get this board to work with Octoprint? I cannot get it to detect my printer...
I had no problems at all with my firmware. Make sure you have your serial ports configured correctly.
@@kerseyfabs configure it in the firmware or on Octoprint? What version of Marlin are you using? Perhaps have a link? This is driving me nuts...
Frankly, is this possible to have Ender-3 V2 (V2! :) )menu interface on Ender 5 Plus? Please do this :)
Technically, that would be possible but you'd need a new display. At that point, you may as well go Bigtreetech.
Hi there im just wondering if you can do an updated video for the ender 5 plus . I have two wires (b/r) from the mofeset and two solid red wire which i think are the nozzles heaters and no idea where they go.
I don't plan to do another video on this but I'm happy to help. The two from the MOSFET go to the bed heater on the board. The red is positive. The two solid red thick wires go to the hotend heater. Polarity doesn't matter on those. Be sure to check out my video on the E3 Mini V2 which should be almost identical.
@@kerseyfabs I appreciate it! Love the videos !
Do you have the Ender 5 plus install video please?
As I mention in the description and the comments, I no longer recommend this board for the Ender 5 Plus due to issues with the BLTouch. Stick with the V2: amzn.to/47DZtKw
As you saw, I do have a full video on that one.
If possible please update the video to clearly call out that this board is not compatible with the Ender 5 plus it requires a display upgrade to work.
BigTree says it is compatible on their site but does not call clearly out this isssue and does not give any guidance on what displays will work with the Ender 5 plus.
I've made a note in the description and added a pinned post to clarify. Thanks for the suggestion.
@@kerseyfabs Thanks, now if I could only get firmware and setup dialed in. I get an "invalid mesh" error on startup :(
Will you being doing a video on the SKR 2? your coverage of the SKR 1.4 was great
@8:53 you mentioned the 5th driver could do a auto left & right level on the z axis with Marlin. In what scenario would this be helpful and should that be a deal breaker to buying a SKR3 vs Mini SKR3 e3 v3.0 for Ender 5 PLUS?
It helps when it comes to making sure the bed hasn't dropped at all or you bump one of the screws. It's not a deal breaker but I nice to have.
If you see two different colored wires, assume they mean it.
i have one question about this does the new ports of the motherboard fit in the hole of the old ports?
Yes. This board's screw holes match the stock board.
Hi is there any chance you can do a Setup guide of the Sonic Pad using the BKR 3 Mini on the Ender 5 Plus please would really be great thankyou

I've been using the SKR 2 for a while now.
hello! thansk for your video, I have a question. what is the caliber for the wires in order to buy the correct ferrules for them?
I believe that goes into the E0 Stop. Find a pin-out diagram and make sure the wiring is right: PC15 - yellow, GND - Black, +5V - red

hello, do you have the firmware for ender 5 with bltouch but connected to the z endstop?
Unfortunately, I don't offer both variations due to time and confusion.
do you have firmware for ender 5 plus with bltouch connected to 5 pin?
What's the difference if I use the black/white wires on the 2 pin z stop header on the board or if I use the 5pin probe connector?
Nothing except that the firmware has to know where to look for it. Electrically, it works the same way.
One big thing you left out was the new firmware thats needed for the Ender 5 Plus touchscreen to make it function with the Marlin v2 firmware. There is a whole new DWIN file set needed to get full functionality.
I don't support using the stock touch screen.
Give this a shot:
1) Download my firmware from the description for your printer configuration.
2) Rename the file to firmware.bin and copy it to the SD card that came with the board.
3) Insert it in the mainboard when it's powered down.
4) Power on the printer and it should automatically flash it.
5) You can verify it by the info on the display or making sure the file was renamed to firmware.cur.
The "Failed to enable bed leveling" just means you haven't run a mesh (ABL) yet.
followed step by step. Once i put in the SD card. NOTHING
If you're having problems flashing:
- It may require an 8GB or smaller SD card.
- Make sure it's formatted FAT32.
- Under Windows in the file manager, click "View" in the menu bar. Make sure "File name extensions" is checked otherwise you may be renaming the file "firmware.bin.bin"

@@kerseyfabs That's a nice solution recommendation. I have ended up soaking in oil and scrubbing with plastic. One nasty job.

@@kerseyfabs Actually I may go with the BIGTREETECH BTT SKR 3 EZ Control Board Mainboard! Would the setup be the same even with EZ2208 V1.0 / 5 pcs?
@@TheBrazilWill I can't say it's the same since I haven't done it but it will be extremely similar. I don't have firmware for it yet.
@@kerseyfabs Hope you you get a firmware for it and do a video soon! The EZ drivers seem cool!
Do you recommend backing up the EEPROM from our old board and loading it once the new board and firmware is installed? Or is it better to write down the values from the old board and manually enter them into the new one? My board arrives today and I'm trying to do some prep work.
I usually hook up over the USB port, run M503 and then copy and paste the settings I want to save to the new board.
forgot to mention a big thanks to Kersey Fabrications for his RUclips content as it has been my goto for most Ender5 Info
great video but can you explain how to connect the bl touch for the ender 5+? mine just glows red...
At 17:07 I show the wiring diagram for it. I've heard of some people having to replace the connector. Also be sure to check the firmware file information in the description on where to plug in the black/white wire.
Great video! Which version of your FW download supports Ender 5 Pro w/BL Touch connected to Z endstop?
I believe this is the file you're looking for: drive.google.com/file/d/1i-GdUXOLjFB8O5mNnY7nr-swB2JnRPYW/view?usp=drive_link
Thoughts?
Did you try the one I linked to? I think that's the one you want.
I've tried it multiple times - never gets to the Marlin boot screen - just sits on a blank screen. @@kerseyfabs
Thanks for the video Kersey! Does the Mini E3 board support the stock touch screen from the Ender 5 plus?
Not with my firmware. That would take a lot of extra work in the firmware and the upgrade.
It´s a good video but what about the bl touch wiring for on a ender 5 plus
17:05 should get you going. Pay attention to the download information though, some configurations I hook the black/white to the probe pins and some to the Z-stop pins.
i have problem with your FW, error: Failed bed leveling. ender 5 plus, please i need fix
You need to go into the menu and run the auto bed leveling. That will clear it up.
Hi did you ever get this working with the Ender 5 Plus correctly I have the board and unsure whether to invest in the BTT Screen, I have the BLtouch on my Ender 5 Plus
As always, great information. Thanks for adding e5plus into it.
First I heard about running separate z motors.
PS: bloopers at the end. 🤣🤣🤣
I can"t get the bl touch work , i"m using yr firmware ,it ll home but the probe wont pop out so my nozzle crashes to the bed bud self test probe is ok, changed the probe as in manual and still nothing on ender 5
I've commented in multiple places that this board does not work well with the bltouch. I recommend the 2.0 but not this one.
I don't see any reason it shouldn't work. It may need a new display too. Then you would need custom Marlin or custom Klipper.
If I had installed my power wires in the reverse order does that mean my board is dead?
Only one way to find out! But probably so.
You're welcome! If you install OctoPrint on a Raspberry Pi, it will have no problem connecting to this board/firmware.
@@kerseyfabs I tried and the pi does not recognize it. I read something about jumpers needed for the port to work with a pi. Can you let me Kim’s what you have set up so I can try to duplicate?
Could you create a guide on how you make firmware? I cant get mine to flash onto the printer correctly, and i need to change some settings.
I would love to. At one point I was even going to do an online course. I just have to find the time.
Kris, thank you, Great Video, I have been switched to BIGTREETECH SKR MINI E3 used in the Ender-5-Plus but I need a firmware where BL Touch is attached to the Z-Probe specifically for the 5 plus. By Any chance do you have one. In your video you also to refer to correct connection to BL Touch as Z-Stop. Will you please point to the video or instruction (to do this in the correct polarity). Thank you once again for great work and thank you in advance for your answers.
Are you gonna check out the skr3 ez by chance. I'd love for ya to do firmware for it if not I might just go with the skr2
I don't have one yet but I do try to release firmware for the new boards once I have a chance and have a board.
Kris have you put one of these in your Ender 5 Plus with dual indepentent Z driving?
This board only has one Z stepper driver with two connections that are electrically the same. I have tested it in my Ender 5 Plus but it won't drive the Zs separately.
@@kerseyfabs People have converted the extra E driver to an extra Z driver with firmware and run both leadscrews independently so they can run G-34 in the start code to level the bed gantry each print
There's not an extra E driver. There's only four steppers on the board for X, Y, Z, and E. Show me how they did it since it doesn't appear to be technically possible.
@@kerseyfabs I think I have confused this board with another one, Sorry
@@AndrewAHayes No problem at all. You may be thinking of the E3 Turbo.
Update to the latest touchscreen firmware. github.com/bigtreetech/BIGTREETECH-TouchScreenFirmware#firmware-update
If that doesn't work, look at the config file: github.com/bigtreetech/BIGTREETECH-TouchScreenFirmware#configuration
If you want to verify what I'm telling you, try using the Marlin interface by holding down the button for a few seconds.
i have changed to this main board but it is set for the ender 3. How can i change it to the ender 5 firmware Thanks Pete
1) Download my firmware from the description for your printer configuration.
2) Rename the file to firmware.bin and copy it to the SD card that came with the board.
3) Insert it in the mainboard when it's powered down.
4) Power on the printer and it should automatically flash it.
5) You can verify it by the info on the display or making sure the file was renamed to firmware.cur.
great video..we were chatting on FB earlier, just got my E3 v3...should have watched this video first. didnt realize I needed a connector to the "Always On" wires..should be here tomorrow. Keep up the great work.
Glad I could help!
@@kerseyfabs finally able to install..but the hot end fan doesnt turn on. I heat the nozzle up to 200 and its suppose to come on around 50/60. I know its plugged into the right port.
I would LOVE to know how to hook up my BL Touch on my Ender 5 PLUS to my BTT SKR Mini E3 V3.0. I have a Black rectangle plug with Orange, Brown and Red wires and a White plug (same style as on the stock x,y,z stop plugs) with a Black and White wire.
I'm trying to get the firmware for the cr 10 s to work and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong but at the moment I can't auto home. Idk if it disabled my x end stop but it hits it and it won't stop. So I ordered some new ones but I won't know until they get here. I just want my printer to work again.
Are you compiling your own firmware or did you find some community firmware?
can u do a klipper install on this board in the e5
I appreciate the interest but I don't think I'd do it on this board, just too many BLTouch issues. I'll get to a Klipper install eventually but I just have so many projects.
Hello I have just fitted the BTT E3 V3.0 as in your video I am having problems, it will not read my SD cards? I have a ender 5 with BL touch can you help me please.
I'll do my best. Do you have working firmware installed? Where are you inserting the card? The board or the display? Are you using the touch interface or the Marlin interface?
@@kerseyfabs Hello thanks for the reply, the board came with Ender 3 firmware installed. The firmware will not work on my ender 5, it tries to auto home but goes to far for my 5. But it moves the head. I am putting the card in the slot at the front. I checked and the card is going in all the way. I have the standard screen it says card inserted but will not read it. I have renamed the file firmware.bin as instructions.
Thanx.
No. It doesn't currently work with the stock display. I'm working on something that *may* allow that in the future but it's not ready yet.
@@kerseyfabs Thanx for the info. Working on putting in an old 12864...
That should work!
hey I did this but my screen says no printer attached. but when in merlin it thinks its a ender 3, but i have a ender 5 plus. I googled and googled to the point of writing on this wall. can some one please help
You didn't successfully install my firmware. Download the correct file for you printer, rename it firmware.bin and try again.
@@kerseyfabs I installed SKR Mini E3 V3.0 - Ender 5 Plus - BLTouch connected to Z endstop - to my board. When I auto homes it continues to lower the board every time, if I go to settings I can raise and lower the board, but it never finds home.
Geat Video but my Z stop on the BL touch dont work. it rams in to the bed :(
Sorry to hear that! Check the black/white wires. They are most likely hooked up wrong or not making a good connection.
@@kerseyfabs I swapped the wires and it worked! thank you for your great support
Could you please point out what to look for?
does your firmware for the ender 5 support the big tree tech display?
How to you set it up with an BL Touch from Ender 5 Plus?
You have 2 plugs, one with, white and black. and one with Orange, Red, brown.
Thank you.
Have you installed new firmware on the board? Have you tried to use the Marlin interface instead of the touch UI?
We've all been there! I'm glad you got it up and running! Cheers!
@@kerseyfabs Thank you.
Why didn’t you mention CR 10s v5 isn’t this board compatible to it,Thank You for all ure video’s
Sure. This board will work in a lot of machines but I focus on what I have.
Kersey needs your help, I connected the same board to an ender 5 + printer with bltouch, in response I get an error on the screen "failed to enable bed leveling", did you have this? how did you deal with it?
All that means is that you have not run auto bed leveling on the touch screen. Run that through the menu and then it will go away.
