Between 1984 and 1991, they had twenty Top Ten country hits, including fourteen #1s. During that time, the duo won, nine Country Music Association awards, and seven Academy of Country Music awards, and five Grammy Awards for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group.
TNN was the country version of MTV. The Judds had lots of great hits to check out: "Rockin' with the Rhythm of the Rain", "Have Mercy", "Why Not Me", "Mama He's Crazy" and my personal favorite, "Love Can Build a Bridge".
@TonyM1961 TNN and the Nashville Network were the same thing. In the 80s, the network was called TNN. They then changed it to The Nashville Network, maybe around early 2000s. Maybe you're thinking of TNT??
If I remember correctly it was short for "The Nashville Network". And I only watched it for the fishing, motocross and cooking shows, but I do remember some music on there.
The Nashville Network, or TNN, as the name implies, was about country music. Nashville being the capital of country music. Most, if not all, of the programming in its early days was about country music.
I'm telling you; you'd really appreciate Wynonna Judd singing "Love Can Build A Bridge" at the Naomi Judd: A River of Time Celebration. This was after her mom took her own life. The power in her heart and soul is earth shattering.
TNN stood for The Nashville Network. It was a big country music tv channel. It was kind of the the precursor to CMT and GAC, which were also very big channels.
If Wy had kept singing like that after her mom retired, the world of country music would be a better place. One of the most incredible voices ever. She totally changed her style when she went out on her own though, but when they were the Judds, it was some of the best music out there.
The Judds where spectacular! One of the reasons they stopped the duo was because Naomi had contracted Hep C from when she was a nurse. The riggers of touring was just too much and she had to step back. Winona then went solo but had issues of her own and had to step back as well. True national treasures!
What's a tragedy is that she was a health-care worker yet they found a cure shortly after her death (different cause, but that's a different story. I can't help but think though that it played a part since she would have known what an ugly death Hep C brings)
Please keep bringing us these lovely Judds reactions. They have so many hits, you won’t get bored. Mama He’s Crazy is a favorite of mine. But check out Wynonna’s solo career too.
I love ,love, love these ladies! Their harmonies are so angelic. They have so many great hits. Dive deeper Britt. Grandpa , love will build a bridge, and all the catalog. Love ya!
The song was mentioned earlier (A Bad Goodbye), but her duet with Clint Black is amazing. I was lucky enough to see it live as part of the Black & Wy tour. She’s an absolute force to be reckoned with…and when you add in Naomi, it’s such a beautiful harmony.
This is the 2nd time l've watch this. If you want to see what it was like to watch them accept an award. Watch the CMA or AMC award shows. Naomi was a hoot, so very funny. She did most of the talking. I called her Momma Judd. They won many awards & always thanked the Lord for thier success.
I remember the first time heard The Judds on the radio. They sang "Mama He's Crazy" and I just melted. I've been in love with their music ever since. That first time I heard them, I thought the dj said they were a new group called The Jugs, and I thought "Man, that's an interesting name for a girl group."
The Judds were the perfect example of what is the difference between singing together and harmonizing. It’s in their biography. When they first started out they were singing together and it was still okay but then they started working with someone who taught them how to harmonize and the rest is history. They owned the 80’s. You can ask me anything, I’m a walking encyclopedia. My fav of theirs is Love is Alive. As an English Major I love the plays on words in that song. Please if you see this do Conway Twitty “Goodbye Time.”
I attended one of the Farewell Concerts just before Naomi retired originally. The opening act was Garth Brooks. That’s how big they were … and how early it was in his career.
You should check out Wynonna’s song well it’s not her song but a song she sang called “I can only imagine” that will bring you to tears. She has the most amazing voice.
This may have been during the time Naomi was going through treatment for Hepatitis , and at this time she would veer away from camera time . This would have been right before The Judds took a hiatus so Naomi could get treatments , later she would go into remission, and they would do a comeback tour . She was sick for a while though.
Love your commentary! The Judds music is still wonderful today. I'm relatively new. Have you found Linda Ronstadt yet? May I suggest Blue Bayou and Different Drummer?
You should look at "Hey Bobby" by K. T. Oslin...another story, then "Fishing in the Dark" by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band...also a story. So many stories told through song.
TNN stood for The Nashville Network. It has since merged with another country music cable network. They also merged later with a sports network that heavily featured NASCAR auto racing WCW wrestling and SEC college football and basketball.
Britt, I’m posting a live Wynonna, must see performance! ruclips.net/video/s4Z8p65_u08/видео.htmlsi=hiXQ7TSyDIRMaJ6P You will be blown away by the story and, Wynonna’s vocals. This showcases how much Wy’s fans mean to her. #WyForever
This era of country music grabbed ahold of your soul and twisted you into all the emotions. I truly miss this real country music.
I do too
The Judds were my favorite country artist growing up in what I call the "Golden Age of Country." Back before country-pop took over the industry.
Between 1984 and 1991, they had twenty Top Ten country hits, including fourteen #1s. During that time, the duo won, nine Country Music Association awards, and seven Academy of Country Music awards, and five Grammy Awards for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group.

There were actually TWO "TNN"s for a short time. The Nashville Network like you spoke about and Turner Network News which became CNN

Thanks for reacting to this one. Listening to this brings back great memories. Always loved the Judds.
Glad you enjoyed it

TNN Country TBN Christian
Love the Judds. Two of my favorites "Working in the Coal Mine" & "Rocking to the Rhythum of the Rain"
One of my favorite lines of all time. The Judd's goes.
Love can Build a Bridge, Between your Heart and Mine.
True for all Humans.
She Is His Only Need is another awesome song
Wynonna's best and released right after her mom retired.

That's what they did, make you feel. Loved their music, even when Wynonna continued on without her mother, those songs were special.

Wynonna had a great solo career after this. Check out Rock Bottom, His Only Need, and my favorite, Is It Over Yet.
Thanks for this. I forgot how much i loved these women ❤
Blast from the past
Glad you enjoyed it
Simple and beautiful story telling in song. This was written by Kent Robbins and Paul Kennerley, and it didn't hurt that the Judds were singing it.
Easily my favorite Judd’s song. The vocals are amazing and the story is why I love country music. You can just picture it in your mind.
TNN used to be a Country music network, The Nashville Network
After TNN came CMT Country Music
CMT came after TNN

She had solo a career. She has a great country voice.
Fun fact about the mom was she was a nurse and loved by her fans as she treated them as if they were family
TNN was The Nashville Network.
One of the sweetest songs ever written. You have to do Two Sparrows in a Hurricane by Tanya Tucker and Bobby by Reba McEntire if you love stories.
I attended one of the Farewell Concerts just before Naomi retired originally. The opening act was Garth Brooks. That’s how big they were … and how early it was in his career.

You should look at "Hey Bobby" by K. T. Oslin...another story, then "Fishing in the Dark" by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band...also a story. So many stories told through song.
K.T.Oslin - Hey Bobby at Farm Aid Live is great.
TNN was The Nashville Network.. It was kinda like the Country version of MTV when it came out in the mid 80s.
Better as it was a live show.
You need to watch the Judds the change Reunion Concert Special 2000. You will see Ashley Judd.
TNN stood for The Nashville Network. It has since merged with another country music cable network. They also merged later with a sports network that heavily featured NASCAR auto racing WCW wrestling and SEC college football and basketball.
