  • This battery charger won’t charge or put out voltage through the clamps! I know it’s on because I can hear the hum of the transformer vibrating as electricity goes through it. Let’s open this 12/24 V manual charger up and see if we can find and fix the problem.

After you found the wire issue, you should have unplugged the unit. You did allow the clamps to touch and spark. You could also have left the unit unplugged from the beginning and traced the bad connection with the ohmmeter. Much safer. I fear you will learn the hard way... Good luck.

It’s true, James. I learn many things the hard way. Still learning all the same. Thanks for watching and for your feedback! And good eye on the quick sparks!

the clamps on the charger i found were totally covered in rust . didn't have new ones on hand . less than one hour soaking in muriatic acid (outdoor use only , use eye protection , don't inhale fumes , etc) had them down to bare metal again . coated them w/oil , but have new ones on hand now , in case they rust again .

Good video. My charger is acting really weird. My needle keeps moving up and then back down again with the "full battery" light coming on and off... the power coming out of the charger ramps up and down with it too. Really strange. Transformer is working, the switch is open like it should be. I am thinking it must be the circuit board but I don't see anything burned.

I’m making a video response just for you. Check back tomorrow night.
Bottom line: Try your charger on a different battery before you tear into it to troubleshoot it.

@@Duby4life Cool, thanks!!! I am honored.
For further information, I used it on my car battery which I thought was dead but took it to Batteries + and they said it was good. I also used it on my lawnmower battery. Both were doing that weird bouncing thing.

Here’s the best answer I can give without seeing the charger myself: ruclips.net/video/B1g8qj8voZo/видео.htmlsi=i1REpKlgvJ2j-R6A

shouldn't that been the FIRST THING you inspected?? instead of tracing wires and all that BS

Often times, it is the simple things that are overlooked. You would be amazed how many battery chargers are brought to me that have simple problems.

If you were looking up RUclips videos to fix your charger, it’s probably not this simple.
