I was surprised that it took me a few years to discover this game - I even played Control before it. I played it this year (on a Linux OS) and didn't notice any graphical bugs. Excellent work by Remedy, with a good story, very well done graphics and environments, as well as exceptional work with the actors (in this the game is 10/10). I hope Remedy makes a sequel - and Shawn Ashmore wants it too!
It’s officially not cannon to their shared universe they meticulously built through it. They lost the licensing. They would have to buy it back if that’s even possible for them to even mention it in a game. I mean at least OfFiCiAlLy because uhhhh… (allll of those games are connected all the way back to max Payne and they definitely found their footing with that one) they just can’t reference it… at least directly. They are pretty sneaky 🙌
@@aesirhog4811 ah that's fair enough, I feel like Remedy probably want it to be canon but because of ownership and corporations being involved - the art always suffers.. I could be mistaken but I think I may have seen a cameo appearance in Alan Wake 2... not 100% sure though....👀
@@dox_plays theyy DEFINITELY do play on it and it’s “unofficially” cannon. They just can’t legally do it explicitly or really at all I guess so they “don’t”. Like Martin “hatch”, the face of monarch is obviously some kind of version of Mr “door” in Alan wake. They chose the same actor. There’s also the sheriff in Alan wake 2 “Tim beaker” sounds kinda like time breaker, also the same actor as jack the protagonist in quantum break. It’s also no quintessence that that Jesse’s character is so similar to Beth and the same actor. I feel like in control the dialog that Jesse’s brother had about his dreams and the references to Alan wake and past games all the way back to max Payne slightly dabbled in the realm of quantum break. So they are definitely still even more meticulously working it out for fans. I just wish they didn’t have to tip toe around it. They go as close as they legally can. I’m sure it’s disappointing for them though (as well as us) because they really work it out in detailed laid out ways through their games. It just seems like quantum break was a real launching point for their shared universe and had a lot packed into it to come back into the fold. Definitely glad it still is in some capacity 🙌 Edit: Reddit has a lot about it on it. Also a lot of funny sarcastic commentary that I was trying to do, because its 100% cannon
This was a game that seemed to have so much hype when it was first announced, and then it just sorry of fell flat. Might try it now that it won't be as expensive! Great vid, keep it up!
So the live action “cutscenes” were a hold over from Xbox One launch plans to integrate TV so those were meant to be kind of a stand alone show they made but when that idea got scrapped due to backlash Microsoft and Remedy had to use them differently but I do agree with everything you are saying. Still a solid game though and good fun
@@dox_plays yea I get that also I know that they never outright say it but you could download the episodes so they weren’t streaming but it was a ridiculous I believe 75-85 GB
Quantum Break is an awesome game, I recently played it again and the quality of its graphics and gameplay still hold up after all these years. If you love having kick-ass time powers and a better than average storytelling experience, I highly recommend it.
I managed to find an out of bounds glitch in the final chapter which was kinda funny. Also, in the final part of the final level, don't go backwards in the time machine when Will is frozen. You will reach the trigger causing the fight to begin, and moving around will then cause the screen to go super white.
The OOB one was especially funny to me. Partly just out of the fact that how you do it is so obvious. I just had Jack jump to where two railings met and he climbed onto the air. After that, it just took some good repositioning to finagle him onto the ground instead of dying. @@dox_plays
@@dox_plays I see you trying to cheer me up, but let's face it: the years are finally catching up. Your video prompted me to boot my QB copy yesterday and the game is indeed showing it's age even if it still looks great, I remember when I saw it for the first time when it released and thought it was the pinnacle of graphics... and then came Alan Wake 2
i had to youtube the videos, too, when i was playing. of course i was playing on Server 2008 r2 😂 it would just crash when you tried to play the video. i want to try it again now that i have better hardware (Radeon Fury to RX6800 (between a 3070Ti and 3080 or between a 4060Ti and 4070 ...only i have 16GB VRAM 🤣) but i need to finish Control and CP2077 just haven't been in the mood to game the last year or three :'(
oh man, gaming burnout is a real thing.. look in my opinion if you're not loving it, you shouldn't pressure yourself into playing. Having said that though, I really really liked Control; and i'm not even sure why, like that creepy vibe was so atmospheric but it creeped me out 🤣
I loved the facial animations and the camera angles were really cinematic . Transitions from cutscene to gameplay looked cool What i hated : I reached act 3 and kept asking what the heck is going on, who are these new characters only to realise this game has live action episodes lol . And those cant be streamed on gamepass . This messed up the storytelling experience for me Too much lore stuffed into collectibles that can be easily missed and most gamers dont wanna read during a scifi action game . Developers could have turned those into audio logs . Weird glitches where every reflective surface turns multicolored and blinds the screen . Had to restart multiple times
I had a few glitches when I played through, but for the most part it was okay. The collectibles not all being turned into audio logs I can understand because of the sheer amount of work and probably money it would take. But I agree with pretty much everything else you said - I get they were trying something different with the live action sequences but boy did it ruin the pacing for me

I played this years ago and I actually enjoyed the game. It's weird not many people know about its existence.
Yeah, I feel like it may have sort of just fallen into obscurity after the hype died down

Yes, the quality is definitely there. I just wish it used all the time, energy and budget from the show on the game itself

I love this game, i played it directly after control and it was a kinda needed break to go outside lol.

Quantum Break is already retro... I feel old now.
toooo be fair it's not actually that old - the "retro" bit in my reviews is more "retrospective" than time period 🤣😅
