    Tips
    If you want a ridge monkey check out the one we use by clicking the Amazon link in the description.
    To make sure the corners and sides cook well move the ridgemonkey around the gas ring to bring the flames into contact with those areas. We were flipping every 5 minutes. Note that there was plenty of room in our pie for extra filling as one tin only made it level with the top of one side. 😏👍

    I think you can call that a success. I'm quite partial to a can of Stag on a baked potato but as a pie filling it sounds like a great idea.

    have done this with several fillings corned beef. tinned curry, tinned stewing steak, minced beef and veg, all were very good and tasted lovely. well done and thanks for the ideas.

    Excellent piece of kit.I got a standard size RidgeMonkey a few weeks ago and it makes the best toasted sandwiches ever. Got to try a one-person sized pie next!

    Your toad in the hole batter and yorkies. Teaspoon of mustard in the mix. Gives it a lovely flavour not obvious with mustard either. My boy lives it. ❤️

    Nice. The only thing locally is from Canadian Tire, the Woods™ Cast Iron Long Handle Double Camping Cooker Pie Iron. But the handles are 9" long. A bit unwieldy in a campervan. :)

      Some of our subscribers in the US have suggested the Happy Call Double Sided Grill Pressure Frying Pan T12 and Harris Sports Mail may ship to Canada. Some have also found them locally on eBay.

    Tinned chilli and curry i have found to my surprise to be quite good and very handy in the van. Good in a wrap but wouldn't have thought of the pie, great idea, looked good👍

    Good day to you both. Just bought a Ridge Monkey and i did 'steal' your recipe for my first go at a
    meal. Its a cracking piece of kit and well worth the space in the van. My simple nv200 build is nearly
    done and plan to enjoy my vehicle every bit as much as you seem to enjoy yours. Your you tube

    Excellent video again guys I love your cooking videos along with your little red camper outings never thought about doing something like that in a ridge monkey.
    Ken, I’m partial to a tin of chicken in white sauce like you I’m wondering if it would work as well to make a chicken pie like you’ve done with the Stagg chilli. Another recipe idea for you

    I have 2 Ridgemonkey's. One was a bit of a disappointment. It was the larger of the 2 and it does not come apart to make 2 frying pans and the handles to not detach. I have just purchased the smaller one that has been updated. Handles detach and are magnetic and it comes apart. Yours looks the same as my new one but is the larger version. It's amazing what you can produce in these.

      Yes, definitely need the detachable handles for storing in an NV200. Ours is the compact XL. Look forward to seeing what you cook in yours Christian 🙂👍

      @@LifeistooshortCK Mine is the XL, but handles do not detach. So I purchased the small one where handles does come off, but also a Jetboil frying pan where the handle folds and a spatula clicks and stores in that. Also picked up an MSR pocket stove for cooking outside of the campervan and on walks.

      Thanks Mike. The pie was really tasty and easy to prepare, just make sure you cook on a low heat as it burns quickly if the heat is too high. I’m sure you’ll have many tasty meals from your RidgeMonkey 👍🙂

    Stag chilly is the best meal I have during the week in my truck, usually with 5 minute boiled rice. If your into spicy food, try the dynamite stag. I wonder if you could make a similar pie with a tin of chicken tikka? Another nice vid Guy's. All the best.

    Hello loved the video i was looking online here out of stock everywhere even Amazon.ca just wondered if you only use Ridge monkey when you are out camping or do you use in your home can you use it on any type of stove / cooker or does it have to be on an open flame .       Thanks Shaun. We only use the Ridge Monkey in the campervan because we have an induction hob at home and it doesn’t work on that. According to their website they can be used on all traditional stoves but not suitable for induction hobs 👍🙂

    The pie looked great, how versatile is the ridgemokey. I use the plastic tools that came with it to prevent damaging the non stick surface.
    Must try that pie filling,it seems to have plenty of meat in it. Keep warm. Regards from Hampshire. AJ

      It is surprising what good quality tinned meat is. Since we have had the campervan we have tried several different types and it has all been good. Best wishes to you in Hampshire 👍🙂

    looks yumm ! , I am going to have to get another Ridge Monkey as the one I have the lid does not split or handles come off , it was supposed to be a genuine Monkey , now I am not so sure after seeing others .

      It sounds like you have the classic toaster instead of the compact, it’s essentially the same thing just with a fixed hinge and handle. Both still do a fantastic job.

    I would go as far as to say " success, that's a roaring success ". Brilliant and it looked like it tasted as good as it looks. Do you travel with both sizes of those ridge monkeys or just the XL one?

      We only have the XL Ridge Monkey Nigel. By the way our wool replacement bedding arrived today so we will be testing that soon 👍

    What are the handles made from please? Thinking of whether it would work on a campfire

      They are some sort of plastic but they never feel hot at all when the pan is in use. I think fishermen use them on Firebox stoves but with them the flames are more controlled. Never used it yet on a real fire so cannot say.

    I vote for cherry pie filling and I'd put a little cinnamon and sugar on the pastry pieces. I like that ridge monkey. This is the only place I've ever seen one.

      We like the sound of your sweet pie, will have to give that a go. Ridge Monkeys were originally made for anglers but we have seen a lot of people have them in their campervans and motorhomes.

    At least when you fill your own pies you know how much filling they have in them. So many bought pies have very little in them & one then has a depressingly familiar feeling of disappointment.
