Just gonna say this, every connection you've realize in the show is connected to the story. Everything is interwoven, everything and every word that is spoken is connected in the broader story of one piece. It's only when you realize and look back and see all the breadcrumbs along the journey will you realized how much of an amazing story One Piece is.

While DF’s are a big part of how people have powers in One Piece it’s not the only way to have super like seeming powers. Also the Luffy/Garp thing you learned in episode 4 is something that is revealed over 300 episodes deep into the anime. Just a tidbit of info for you.
Also noteworthy that devil fruits are extremely rare. Luffy notably stole an immeasurably valuable treasure. A couple people show up later who eat one. There is a decent amount of animal devil fruits. but I don't think the Straw Hats come across one in the entire story.

The snails are called denden mushi or "transponder snails." As you guessed, they are used as phones in the One Piece world.
We know Shanks doesn't have a devil fruit in this scene because in the manga, he didn't even bother to take a ship, he just swims to rescue Luffy. If he can swim that means he has no devil fruit. Essentially he just freaked the hell out of the sea king xD "what about setting bits of him on fire" That would work yeah. So does punching, they buffed Buggy a bit in this fight because normally Buggy can only escape blunt attacks if he separates his body parts in advance. If you take him by surprise, he doesn't automatically avoid the hit while on the other side, if you cut him from behind it wouldn't work on him at all. He's kind of Luffy's opposite. The downside of the fruits they said it earlier, the ocean turns its back on you, sapping your strength in ocean water, which is why luffy can no longer swim.
The show does it differently, but in the manga Buggy did get punted so far away that his crew lost him, and he had several adventures in his tiny form before he could put himself back together.

I think the Devil fruit is designed to answer a bunch of questions similar to the questions superhero comics also need to answer. Where did all these people with superpowers come from? Why do they need a crew if they have superpowers? If anyone can get superpowers, why doesn’t everyone? To pirates, the most constant and ever-present danger is the sea itself. If you can’t swim, it’s deadly. You need to always be near people who can rescue you if you do fall in.

The Logia fruits are considered the strongest and lets you turn into and control an element(like fire, ice, magma, lightning, smoke).People who eat Logia fruit tend to get cocky because ordinary people can't even touch them in their element form. But, most high ranking pirates and marines have a skill called that's a hard counter. So, arrogant Logia fruit eaters tend to cross the wrong people and die young. FYI - Shanks didn't eat a Devil Fruit. He's a Haki master. Garp is too. Haki is that skill that allows ordinary people to fight Devil Fruit eaters. Their are 3 types of Haki. Shanks used "Conqueror's" Haki on the Lord of the Coast (the big sea monster). Conquerors lets you overpower people and animals with your will. You can learn the other two types. You have to be born with Conquerors. FYI2 - Haki sounds like hockey.

He asked shanks to create their own crew after their old crew got abolished and asked shanks to lead him to the one piece, but shanks said ge doesnt want to go after the one piece and just live a life like a pirate., buggy was furious and felt betrayed he trusted shanks and let go of his pride but shanks is not a big dreamer, at that moment in time.
