    I think my favourite new genre of Lego Star Wars videos are the people who just wanted to resell the GWP, crying, because they couldn’t get more than one

    I really think the droid transport needed to be a purchaseable set and we got a different GWP with it. Especially because of army building that they KNOW people do with their stuff.

    Check your order history on the site. It might show the GWP as backordered. That's how one of my orders is. It says I'm still going to receive it eventually.

    When it comes to the UCS TIE Interceptor, I'd say keep it. It's definitely a great build, but it's also my 2nd favorite ship in all of Star Wars (cannon and legends). So I might be a little biased.
    Also, I thought it was funny that it has an envelope (the instructions), in a box, in a box, in a box. Haha!

    1. I’m responding as someone who received 6 GWPs. LEGO was wrong.
    2. I had heard rumors about LEGO limiting GWPs to 1 per household before release (and yes, I know it’s always been in their terms of service-but they’ve NEVER enforced it). Because of this rumors, I double-checked my basket for each order before checking out AND I double checked my confirmation email. The GWP was in all 7 orders I placed that night, but it was missing on one of the confirmation emails. I was fast enough to cancel that order that night before it said “In warehouse.”
    3. If LEGO really wants to enforce the 1 GWP per household, then program the website so people can’t put a second one in a shopping cart. Better yet, give them a pop-up explaining why it won’t add to the cart.
    4. If the GWP is in the cart when the customer clicks to buy, do NOT remove it without telling them. Simply removing it from the email is not good enough. Tell people it’s been removed and give them a choice to still make the purchase or cancel the order. That would have also allowed some people to go to a LEGO store to buy a second copy.
    5. Finally, if LEGO wants to enforce the policy, do it evenly for everyone. This time it was applied very randomly. Many people did not receive the GWP and I have 6. I’m happy, but it’s wrong.
    6. Just about the only thing LEGO could do to make this situation worse would be to produce more copies of the transport now, but the noise over this release could cause them to do just that.
    7. LEGO uses FOMO like GWPs and double points to drive sales. For better or worse, their best customers know this and plan accordingly. I didn’t buy almost any Star Wars sets from January until now because I knew I would be stacking orders and stacking the May 4 GWP (even though I didn’t know what it would be). If LEGO limits the GWP to 1 per household, I will only make 1 May 4 order and I’ll look for sales, etc. at other retailers.
    I truly love LEGO-both as a group that almost always makes great customer service decisions and as a product I’ve built and collected for 50 years (I still have the first set (set 420) that I received as a gift 50 years ago today!). In this case, however, LEGO made several avoidable mistakes.

    This is ridiculous. I agree your problems and Brickitect’s with it being the system problems. Also you had the crappy customer service response. Both my orders were placed 3 hours or so after yours. I got everything. It’s not right. How much later did you order the ghost? Maybe it was ordered after the system got stable.
    I applaud you for sending it back. Make it cost them more than if they just sent your what you deserve

    I find it fair to limit the GWP because of scalpers nowadays. Wish more companies in the toy community would do it.
    Like Hasbro when they drop a Walmart exclusive Spider-Man figure. Instantly sells out and you’re never see it for a decent price ever again.
    Just sucks that it wasn’t regulated enough and some folks still got all of them they ordered while you didn’t.
    If they wanted to make real money, it should of just been a retail release and fans could army build as many as they wanted.

    • @newtcrew
      @newtcrew 4 месяца назад

      Then they need to have more sales going on. Nobody is going to drop 1k on Lego at full price simply because it's May 4th. If you have 5 orders at $200 and are able to sell the GWP for $50, then you are saving 25% minimum. If you're going to limit GWP, then they should make everything 20% off. If they do get strict with limiting GWP, and don't offer better discounts, then sales are going to plummet around May 4th.

    They have had the stipulation on the website since the last star wars day promo(mini deathstar). I had asked a question about this on another channel and they said yeah they have this, but don't enforce it. I was concerned when I placed my orders, but I did pretty much like you but I got all 3 promos in each order. I am unsure how they determine who they hit and why. I made 2 orders back to back, and the third I did about 4 hours after that. First order was processed next day, the second order the day after that, and the third was done 3 days after ordering.

      Glad you got all your gwps. I know they have had the one per household in the terms for a while but I’m pretty sure it was just an issue with the website not able to handle the capacity. Then one per household was just an easy excuse.

  • @westdecker
    @westdecker 5 месяцев назад +1

    FWIW - I agree this was actually their system buckling under the strain. Two of my orders had the same problem as yours where the GWP got knocked off during the checkout process (including my very first order - so their system didn't have any previous orders from me yet). I cancelled those two without the GWPs and was able to place the orders again an hour later and the GWPs were correctly added and shipped.
    I'm sorry you had problems and Lego really needs to do better. Inconsistent policies and systems that can't handle the load are no excuse for bad customer service.

    I had issues with online orders. At one time my cart said 600 items. So, I emptied cart & started over. In the end, I received all 5 orders with GWPs in each. Waiting 2 hours for things to calm down was irritating.
    I might call in orders in the future. It's nice to talk to a real person.
    Still better than driving 10 hours to get LEGO.

    I think missing the gwp is a big problem depending on what it is. Right now, I am waiting for Lego to do double points, but considering I will be knocking out a bunch of Lego in the next week getting the last part forca project I have been working on for 4 years from a local bricklink seller and also I will be hopefully hitting the lego store. If the bricks and minifigs close by has a retired modular, I will pass on the marvel set and go for the old modular instead.

  • @Mardigrasman23
    @Mardigrasman23 4 месяца назад

    I think it stinks. I would keep some since you got 2 gwp. I don’t have a problem with 1 per household if that’s the rules. But if that’s the rules how did you get 2. And how did it randomly pick some orders to not include them. As far as customer service. They just following protocols. Open the manual and find the answer to this problem. The problem is the system. If it’s one it should be a hard one. Not a random 1. But as much as this sucks. They got you because there is a rule that they can fall back on. So you have to outsmart them and return stuff.

    It seems like the best approach would be to just place any orders first thing in the morning. All the system errors will be cleared by then, and you don't have to waste any additional time. I would expect GWP's to last at least 12 hours; I don't believe any GWP's sold-out that quickly in the recent past.

    • @jasonsbricksin5
      @jasonsbricksin5  5 месяцев назад +1

      Two years ago I placed 4 orders right after mid night and the last one they did send me an email saying they had canceled an item from my order as it was sold out. But I think you are right. They lasted longer this year and last year with the Death Star.

  • @bricks_in_space
    @bricks_in_space 4 месяца назад

    Its a real shame it went down the way it did for you. If the glitch/traffic load was not all messed up you would have gotten all the GWP's you should have with your orders. I actually waited to put my orders in, in the morning of the 1st. There was no slow website or slowdown and I put my orders in. I did order some items that were on backorder. The real question will be if the GWP will come with that backstock order. Before I have done the same thing and it may have taken a couple extra weeks to get the items but I still received all the GWPs. So Lego does hold them for backorders apparently.

Even made a fifth order a day or two later before the gwp's sold out and they should be here tomorrow. I always do multiple orders for gwp's. Never been a problem. If they start doing this it will definitely stop a lot of my purchases. Hell that's the whole purpose behind gwp's is to get you to buy more stuff than you normally would. No true Scotsman fallacy. He's clearly a collector. The blame solely lies on The Lego Group. They are a multi billion dollar company that for some reason can't handle web traffic every May the Fourth promo. The website bugs out and doesn't add promos to the cart when it should. That's not a paying customer problem. That's a company problem. This person was ready to throw down a ton of his hard earn money. And it's not right for Lego to gatekeep an army building set behind a paywall anyways. The droid carrier should have been a retail set.

    So you’re placing multiple orders to get as many GWPs as possible when you could place one order for all of those items? That, in and of itself, seems dishonest to me as you are just trying to beat the system to try to get as many freebies as possible.
    So you placed four separate orders when you could have placed only one and you got two GWPs when you were only entitled to one. I’m glad LEGO is cracking down on people that are trying to abuse the system whether it is scalpers trying to beat the system to get as many GWPs as possible to resell at crazy prices or collectors who are also trying to beat the system to get as many freebies as possible. Both of those types of people should be ashamed of themselves for doing what they’re doing and I’m glad LEGO is cracking do on them.

      Actually I had to place 4 separate orders because of Lego’s rules. I redeemed insider codes and Lego only allows one code per order. Two of the codes that cost no points but were required to get their May 4th discount since they did t just mark down the price for everyone. One order was to get the Star Wars 25th anniversary coin that I redeemed 1500 points for and the last one was the order I redeemed 2300 points for to get the ninjago city docks set. Do it wasn’t really me gaming their system, it was more an issue of them creating a convoluted system that isn’t customer friendly to induce additional purchases and not having web servers that could manage the traffic volume. You may not agree with me but that’s how I see it.

    Will you get your points back for the codes you redeemed?

      No, I am keeping my coin and my Ninjago docks. But that shouldn’t prevent them from refunding the full dollar amount on the other items in those orders since I “paid” with points.

    Okay, so I didn't actually watch the video where you talked about the "one per household" thing, because I thought "Oh, complaining about not getting enough free stuff." And I get that that's annoying when you thought you'd get something, and then you don't. But I thought well hey, free bonus items are free bonus items, and you were kiiiiinda trying to game the system in the first place. And I'm not saying you're being unreasonable, by any means; this kind of thing is absolutely something I'd do too, and I'd be bummed if it all went bad like this. *Buuuuut.*
    If it showed in the cart when you were checking out on the website, then it disappeared when you purchased it, then that's a load of baloney and Lego needs to get its act together. Errors should always favour the customer.

    I really think the droid transport needed to be a purchaseable set and we got a different GWP with it. Especially because of army building that they KNOW people do with their stuff.
