The instruction is complete, the voice is clear and easy to listen to, and most of all when you follow as instructed your machine runs very well. Highest marks , this is really first class.

    Thank you for this video. One of the easiest and straight forward ones I've seen. It helped me fix the "run only on choke" issue. Your fix for adjusting the idle screw and low idle screw is what did it for me. Trimmer is now running fantastic and purring like a kitten on idle 😀

    I followed all the steps in the previous video about rebuilding the carburetor. I just ordered three tools via ebay to get just the one 21 tooth splined adjustment tool. My repaired Poulan string trimmer starts, revs up but dies. So I reset the carb screw that uses the Phillips screwdriver. All the way in, and then three turns back out. Trimmer starts but I need that 21tooth splined tool to adjust the L side. Should get it in on Thursday. Thanks for the videos posted here and the one showing the carb rebuild. William in Atlanta GA

      Thanks for watching! Hope your trimmer ends up running good at idle. The idle speed screw may need to be adjusted if the engine is stalling, I show that the end of the video. It's also super important to measure the gas to oil ratio as precisely as possible. A lot of people eyeball it, and it usually causes the trimmer to stall.. sometimes it can stall even after running fine for a few minutes.

    I have started using Stihl premix gas for my trimmers. It burns cleaner. Steve's Small Engine Saloon. Did a video talking about gas you buy and mixing your on oil. He found it is not the ethanol in the gas that is messing up the diaphragm in the carbs. But the other additives the oil companies put in their gasoline. Premixed gas does not have the additives.

    I followed the steps here and reset the screws as mentioned. I think I have it at the right spots but there's white smoke coming from the engine exhaust. Fuel is mixed correctly.
    Also my idle screw doesn't work like yours. No matter where the screw is, it runs at the same speed.
    I also followed your carb cleaning video as well.

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  3 года назад

      White smoke?? What kind of trimmer is that, it has coolant? The idle screw just presses on the throttle plate. If you push the throttle down you will see the plate move, and the idle screw just stops the plate from not going back very far, as if you're keeping the throttle down basically.. White smoke indicates a blown heat gasket, but you'd need to have coolant in it.. these trimmers don't have coolant. White is basically vapor/steam.

    Just wondering if you have any suggestions as I put a new carburetor on a weedeater along with a new spark plug, gas filter and lines and adjusted it the way you instructed but it’s just not starting. Appreciate any advice.

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  Месяц назад

      It's important that the gas and oil is mixed to the proper ratio. Too much oil can cause starting problems. The gasket for the new carburetor also has to match the old one perfectly, and line up perfectly and not be torn, otherwise the carb won't pump. In rare cases the magneto coil goes bad, causing no spark, so that would also cause it not to start. Another reason can be the new carb. Many times aftermarket carbs don't work like OEM ones. I usually clean and rebuild the old one instead of buying a new one because I've had this problem many times. Here are some rebuild tips in case you're interested, ruclips.net/video/zSBPTKu_xUY/видео.html

    can i use 40:1 in a 50:1 leaf blower? My echo revs up good and will idle but sometimes it just dies. Can the fuel ratio really be to blame?

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  5 месяцев назад

      40:1 will give you more lubrication, but also more deposits and smoke. I don't like adding more oil than required because of the smoke/smell. Has the carburetor been cleaned recently? I would suspect the carburetor. I have a video on that: ruclips.net/video/pCt9QP4kEVU/видео.html If the carburetor is very slightly clogged, it could cause it to shut off randomly when letting go of the gas. Make sure the spark plug is gapped correctly and in good shape as well.

      Yes to everything except i don't know the compression or the ultrasonic cleaner. I used carb cleaner and blew it out. I started right up multiple times after the cleaning but still died at an idol and instead of just adjusting it while it was running I made the mistake of doing the reset. I have an old 32 cc Craftsman weed-eater that I just installed a new carburetor about 6 months ago. All of a sudden, it decided to just stop running. I checked all of the fuel lines and ran into your video and tried to adjust the idle screw to reset. It started at a very high idle so I tried to turn it down but it never started again. The problem with the mixture screws is that they look as though they are totally round with no notches in them at all. What kind of tool would you purchase to adjust them? BTW, there is no H/L anywhere to be found. The only thing to go by is what you said in the video. Any ideas? Any input is appreciated.
