This is a new format I'm trying out. Please let me know your thoughts. Copyright is getting harder and harder to pass. Just something to consider. Thank you all for watching as always.
Looks good to me. I didn't even notice a change! :D Whatever you need to do to make your process easier and appeases RUclips. (they're really making it hard for the people making videos at every turn lately)
People criticizing the new format should understand it's an effort to get around copyright so he can keep bringing us great content. I loved this reaction James!
I love John Candy. It sucks so much that he died. He was so funny and played big hearted characters with such sincerity…and the stories about him as a person suggest he was a genuinely big hearted and welcoming guy in life too.
My family has been spending summers in Averill, VT, it's a very small town. Population 6 in the winter & 300 in summer mostly due to the cabins on the lake. This tradition started with my grandparents & when I was a ind we would go to the dump & watch the bears all the time.
John Candy is a Canadian icon. His last film was Wagon's West. Speaking of Fireflies I think you should check out the TV show Firefly. I know this is a movie reaction channel but it's only 14 episodes and there is a movie made after it was cancelled. I think you would enjoy the humour. Think western in space.
As a Canadian my favourite John Candy movies are : Uncle Buck, Cool Runnings, .Canadian Bacon. The Great Outdoors, Summer Rental and Brewster's Millions
Absolutely one of my favorite funny movies, so glad you finally got to see it! FYI, there was a small end-credits scene; not sure if you just didn't include it in the reaction or if you missed it entirely, but if you did, you should go back & check it out... pretty funny. FYI, didn't mind the new format at all, your laughs in this one were infectious -- keep enjoying all the great new films however you can!
John Candy comedies that are must see are Armed & Dangerous ( buddy action comedy) and Who's Harry Crumb? ( private detective comedy). Only The Lonely is a romantic comedy he did. Not that funny but it also stars Hollywood legendary actress Maureen O'Hara. It's worth a look.
I saw this on TV as a kid and I absolutely loved it. I'm 42 yrs old now and I still love it. John candy and Dan aykroyd play off each other so well. That poor bear. Some of my favorite scenes in the movie are with the raccoons getting in the trash cans. I'm glad you enjoyed this movie. Also I'm liking the new format
13:00 I am reminded of video I once saw, of a polar bear that smelled some food inside a parked (unoccupied) car. It came up to the front passenger side, by the rear view mirror, put one paw on the roof above the door, and the other on the hood in front of the windshield. Then it used main force to push the car down once, twice, THREE times. On the third push, the shock absorbers gave out, every window shattered, and every door sprang open, along with the hood. Then the bear went inside and got the food.
Bart the Bear was in so many movies! He was a massive Kodiak bear that weighed 1,500 lbs and stood 9' 7.5" tall on his hind legs. He lived from 1977-2000. There is a 1997 movie starring Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin called "The Edge" that is a real thriller about a billionaire and photography crew whose plane crashed in the Alaskan wilderness and their journey to safety. After the original Bart the Bear passed away his trainer raised another called Bart the Bear 2 but they weren't related. The cinematography on the big screen was incredible. I highly recommend it!
0:56 New Hampshire is the only state that has no enforceable laws requiring adults to wear seat belts in a vehicle. Georgia didn't make it a primary offense until September 2021
I grew up on this movie quite literally, I had it on dvd when I was a kid and my family would all sit down and watch it together and laugh, it’s even funnier because so many of the characters remind me of my family members from my childhood, Roman reminds me so much of my uncle. Times have changed and I’m much older now and all my family is basically gone now. It’s not really the same and I miss it, but this movie reminds me of the America and the generation I grew up in, the world was just such a different place than the world is now. I wanna go back to this era of America when family was so important.
This was such a fun film and yes I agree simplier times. I will say, taking a longer vacation where you unplug yourself from the world really does make a big difference. Hope you enjoyed the reaction.
I’ve always loved this one. I love John Candy RIP. Most people, if asked about good John Candy films, will recommend “Uncle Buck” or “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles,” and they’re both fantastic 🤌🏼 but I’m going to recommend some lesser known classics for you… -Only the Lonely (underrated gem) -Who’s Harry Crumb? (Low brow slapstick shenanigans) -Armed and Dangerous (with his old pal Eugene Levy!) -Volunteers (with Tom Hanks!) -Summer Rental (another family vacation) I guarantee these are comedy gold. I enjoy your channel sir!
I think you are the only person that has laughed as hard as I had woth this movie. That bear jumping on him makes me laugh so hard I can't breathe! This is such a great movie.
The house/cabin from this film was actually moved to Universal Studios Hollywood, it's part of the backlot tour (which I've done twice). It sits right on edge of the lake with the bluescreen, and it's still used for filming sometimes (I saw it in an episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine a few years ago).
The location is supposed to be Wisconsin, but the actual location is Bass Lake in California (in the Sierra Nevada mountains, on the outskirts of Yosemite National Park). The bar in the movie burned down a year later and had to be rebuilt. When I was around 9 or 10 we had a vacation to Bass Lake, and stayed at one of the cabins at the same location. It’s a beautiful place, even the movie doesn’t do it justice.
The place where they ate the big steak is in Armadillo TX and the fastest ever eaten was 4 minutes by a competitive eater. The challenge is steak, salad, shrimp cocktail, veggie and bread.

Continue to enjoy your reactions...but the new format is wasting a lot of screenspace so prefer the old way.. I watch on my phone, so now the movie itself is much smaller and more difficult to see.
"Good luck killing a bear with a shotgun" really James? you never heard of slugs??? Or an Alaskaan Bear Swatter? A pump action shotgun loaded with intermittent 00 buck Shells and slug loads.
@Awesome US Movies of course, but you said shotgun in the video. Where I grew up rarely was a shotgun loaded with birds hot. Plus you could only use shotguns for Whitetail deer in Ohio.
First time to your channel and,omg dude, your laugh is so ridiculous.u had me dying over here.have u ever seen worried you will stroke out or have an aneurism? Great great reaction to what is,i n my opjnion, the funniest john candy movie ever made

Agree! Him and Chris Farley were gone too soon!
One of the funniest vacation gone wrong movies I've ever seen! Dan Ackroyd and John Candy are hilarious in this film.
I love this movie so much! My dad and I would watch this movie every time it was on tv.

Love it thanks for the story
This movie and Uncle Buck are my two favorites
I lost concentration when you said you didn't know who Freddy Kruger was 🤣🤣 but then I remembered your lack of enthusiasm for horror haha
I love watching your reviews. I love your laughs as they are so infectious.
Oh thank you!

“I see….. trees” 😊

"The Old 96er" is the reference I use today when I see an unusually large steak.
Oh, that WAS Bart the Bear! He's got a resume that's longer than I am tall!
Really?
@@AwesomeUSMovies According to IMDB, he's been in 21 movies. I could've sworn he was in 'Without a Paddle" but, alas, that was Bart II.
RIP Bart!
This movie has had me laughing since it was released. Always happy to see someone else falling down laughing at an underrated movie. Thank you.
Thanks for watching
I’ve always loved this movie so much! Can’t even count the number of times I’ve seen it!

Just FYI, after the end credits there's an extra scene with the raccoons for when you find yourself rewatching this one.
I probably will re-watch this movie it was just so funny.
Great movie! RIP John Candy and Bart the Bear. Cheers
Tall Tales 1995 starring Patrick Swayze - Roger Aaron Brown - Oliver Platt - Catherine O'Hara.
