OMG yes re: the bear ass. lol. I feel like there was a meeting where someone said, "Ok, but hear me out.. What if we put pimples and moles on the ass? Even funnier."
One of those movies from my childhood where we watched it a bajillion times! Scenes memorized, knew what was coming yet ALWAYS laughed and smiled anyway 😂 I reckon this will just be a re-watch for all of us!!
What is up, my friend!! So good to hear from you. Haha yeah, this is one of those kind of movies that is a REAL favorite. Reminds me of that Friends episode where they say, "Rachel's favorite movie: Dangerous Liaisons. Rachel's ACTUAL favorite movie: Weekend at Bernie's."
@@DavidvsFilm For sure a favorite. It's timeless. Showed it to my oldest son when he was younger and loved it. Think my youngest is old enough now to introduce it to him too!
OMG!! This was one of my favourite films to watch when I had to spend the summer at my grandparents house. (Classic old people place with a man made lake and golf carts for cars). RIP John Candy ❤ He did host SNL twice, back when Bob Odenkirk was writing for the show. Fun fact: this was filmed at Bass Lake in Yosemite National Park. I have missed you both! Sending you both loads of love ❤
I'm so happy to see your comment!! How are things?? Thanks for the info.. John Candy is the best. I don't know what Bass Lake looks like now, but I would love to visit somewhere like it! Very nice. Lol @ "Classic old people place"
@@DavidvsFilm I've missed you both. We've been dealing with grandad's terminal cancer diagnosis and moving closer to him to help. It's been crazy at my end. I still think of you both and always send you love and light 💜💜💜
I know the lodge scenes were filmed on Mt Baldy in Southern California. My father was the forest ranger there at the time and has photos with John Candy and Dan Ackroyd from when they filmed.
Such fond memories of watching this movie w my dad!!! Seen it so many times, but it's actually been awhile so this is bringing up alot of nostalgia for me. I'm trying to recall, bur this may have been one of my first John Camdy movies. Loved this movie as a kid and it's so fun to now see it w an adult perspective!❤💞❤️
Awww ♥️♥️♥️ That’s so great to have those memories. I think my first John Candy movie was a similar “vacation” one called Summer Rental. I don’t remember much about it, but I remember it was a favorite of my parents’.
Glad to be poppin' lol. And you are so right about John Candy. The laugh, the facial expressions.. a great guy and comic legend. I love all movies, but these kind of comedies just hit different. And you kNOW i'm getting excited for spooky season!

Thank you so, so much for sharing all these memories, Diane! Sounds like you definitely “saw the USA in a Chevrolet” lol. I was fortunate enough to have parents who also took us on great family vacations (mostly road trips), but I still have so much to see. I loved this movie so much, and I’m extremely grateful that you watched with us :)
@@DavidvsFilm Thanks for your reply and hope your road trips didn't smell as bad as mine....my little brother had foot stink that could kill a horse 😀 LOL..only benefit of having no air-conditioning in a car at the time had to drive with all windows open 😀 LOL
I love this movie because this is my family. 😆My dad is like Chet, a nice guy just wanting to have a low-key family vacation with hotdogs and fishing, and my uncle was a pompous, clueless, jerk with no boundaries who was too loud and spent too much, always trying to be the cool guy, just like Roman. He even drove the boat like Roman, trying to dump whomever he was pulling. He was a real a**hole, but what're you gonna do, he was family. He was also the guy, rather than my dad, who would feed the wildlife while standing right next to a big sign saying "Don't feed the wildlife".🙄We took lots of family vacations together. Good times? 🤔 😆
OMG lol. I like the way you write, "Good times?" at the end lol. I will say that there's something gratifying about seeing crazy fictitious families on screen and knowing it's not just you ;)
The huge flaw of this movie is that the plot should've been driven by the rivalry between the brother-in-laws, but that falls by the wayside for a series of gags.
Happy Movie Wednesday, David and Marc!!! 😊 I already know that I'm going to love this reaction. A perfect summertime movie. And this is one of my all-time favorite John Candy and Dan Aykroyd films. The "big bear chase me" scene towards the end is definitely one of my many favorite scenes in this movie. LOL! This is one of those movies that I have to watch every time it's on tv, and at least twice during the summer. For more Dan Aykroyd, I very highly recommend the 1980 "The Blues Brothers", and the 1991 "My Girl". I'm pretty positive that you both have seen the "Ghostbusters" movies with Dan Aykroyd. LOL! And for more John Candy, I recommend another summertime movie the 1985 "Summer Rental", and "Brewster's Millions" also from 1985. Looking forward to the next reaction. 😊
You made my day, once again! I watched this reaction twice and can now add it to ur playlist!! If you go for the steak dinner, U should definitely vlog it for the channel. Ready for spooky season yet? Put my decorations up yesterday lol...love you guys ❤❤

hahaha right?? I edited out most of the part where I embarrassingly tried to do math in the moment, but that's 6 lbs!! As his wife said, "Oh good God."
It's supposed to be Illinois (Chicagoland) people vacationing in northern Wisconsin (although, it's like pacific West/Northwest USA filming location - exaggerating the northern WI habitat a bit). That said, the film is a classic for us Wisconites that hits home - LOTS of Illinois people (flatlanders/FIBS) roaming the lands of Wisconsin to escape the big city.
Thank you!! You know it's funny, I had never heard the term "FIBS" until about a year ago, when I watched a RUclips video where it was mentioned. I looked it up, and as a Texan I have no horse in this race, but I thought the term was hilaious.
