  • In the human race, these categories of masculinity and femininity are incarnate in male and female, but this is not the only place they are incarnate. Consider how this language of masculinity and femininity applies in various settings. This is not a dualistic principle (some yin and yang thing), but rather a hierarchical, layered and Trinitarian reality. Someone can be masculine in one relationship and feminine in another.

Excellent message from Pastor Doug! More rock solid foundational takeaways from this short message than in most of the fluff marriage seminars I have listened to in the past.

Certainly not. However. Much like the command "do not provoke your children to wrath", a bad spouses behavior can confound, frustrate and instill bitterness.
After the Holy Spirit, A husband or wife is the best help in our lives to aid, exhort and comfort as we pursue holiness. And a spouse that adds to our griefs is a horrible experience.

Appreciated the wisdom in this message, your a wonderful teacher. I just don't understand the need to mock women who follow the Apostolic tradition of wearing a symbol on their head.

I believe Doug was saying there is a way in which the wife could be doing it, but not because she is submissive to her husband. An outward sign of her supposed submissiveness, but in reality for a certain wife it is a sign of her control over her husband.

When I hear the Biblical, expository preaching of a Doug Wilson, John MacArthur, James White or one of the other modern courageous stalwarts of The Faith it becomes all the more obvious how pitiful the messages are in the average watered down evangelical 'church.'

Requiring parents to be responsible for their children without giving them legal authority over their children would be an abomination. It wouldn't be imitating Christ. The same goes for our system that gives men responsibility but not authority over their wives.

Exactly! "For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Cor. 5:21).

I will make them in the image of God man and woman therefore, God is masculine and feminine that is, spiritually speaking,
Christ in the garden is the mother weeping for her child, Christ on cross is the mother being crucified by the child she is weeping for,
Christ is reflecting the image of the masculine and the feminine.
