That thing was huge ! I usually move them but he was really big and I thought he might do damage if he moved to a smaller hive not too far away

I get them on my hives all the time. Just move them to the garden, like the praying mantis just as much as I like the bees. Only are a problem late summer and as long as they are just getting workers we can live together. Spiders also set up some snares for the bees in the fall.
