Longhorn was the Beta, or Demo for Vista. Therefore it was never publicly released. But the sounds do have similar chords to 2000/ME, XP and Vista.. maybe that’s where your nostalgia comes from
Not all builds of Longhorn looked 'nice'. The Plex theme used until 4042 was somewhat bland looking, and the Slate theme wasn't attractive. Longhorn's Aero looked nice though, and I like most of the Longhorn wallpapers.
I just listen to these sounds cuz they give me a nostalgic feeling. I wonder, how the time had passed, all those years, when I turned on my first Computer with Windows XP in 2009 when I was 5, the Technician said "Bring a DVD to check if it's working", I bring a Thomas and Friends and Postman Pat DvD. I listen to The Microsoft Sound and then I get the image of my friend who passed away yesterday in my mind. Wish I could go back and not even be a teenager, return to Grade/Class 2nd and never grow up. If a below 13 YO guy is reading this, life isn't fun when you grow up, none of them is, it's all struggle from the age of 12 to Death. Hope you have a happy life.
I don't know what's up with the cheer horns upon shutdown. And I don't know what went wrong with the later versions of windows, but the older versions have some badass startup sounds. I die every time I hear that tada sound xD *ORGASMS UPON HEARING XP AGAIN*
I feel nostalgic with the the windows Vista and 7 start ups because those were the sounds of my first computer in like 2009, 2010 or 2011. And I can't remember whether it was Vista or 7 I think it was vista
I've had Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows Longhorn (my favorite), Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. I love the shutdown effect of the first Windows NT (the kind of creepy one).
As lot of these sounds are nostalgic to me. Probably my first computer was using Windows XP. Then after that it was just vista till about last year and now I'm using Windows 10.
I'm why, but when I set my desktop to one of the backgrounds that came with Windows 7, it changed a lot of my Widows sounds to better fit the background theme. It also got rid of said sounds if you changed backgrounds. Then I stupidly upgraded to Windows 10 with said background in use. Now I can't get rid of the sounds. Oh well they are better than normal Windows sound anyway (aside from the error sound which they somehow made more cancerous).
longhorn has such beautiful Sounds I can imagine this in 2004 under a old house that has a chiming clock..... So sad.. I was born in 2005 but still..... it's sad because next year or few months Im leaving the country, The only onr best friend I had.... wow...... Its like these soundss.... are so beautiful

XP is the best version of Windows for me. It's super smooth and rarely lags. The only issue is that it's getting unsupported by browsers, drivers etc.

Longhorn was the Beta, or Demo for Vista. Therefore it was never publicly released. But the sounds do have similar chords to 2000/ME, XP and Vista.. maybe that’s where your nostalgia comes from

Not all builds of Longhorn looked 'nice'. The Plex theme used until 4042 was somewhat bland looking, and the Slate theme wasn't attractive. Longhorn's Aero looked nice though, and I like most of the Longhorn wallpapers.
To be honest compared to Luna, i was a massive fan of Plex. Particularly in builds like 4015

I just listen to these sounds cuz they give me a nostalgic feeling. I wonder, how the time had passed, all those years, when I turned on my first Computer with Windows XP in 2009 when I was 5, the Technician said "Bring a DVD to check if it's working", I bring a Thomas and Friends and Postman Pat DvD.
I listen to The Microsoft Sound and then I get the image of my friend who passed away yesterday in my mind. Wish I could go back and not even be a teenager, return to Grade/Class 2nd and never grow up. If a below 13 YO guy is reading this, life isn't fun when you grow up, none of them is, it's all struggle from the age of 12 to Death. Hope you have a happy life.

I've had Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows Longhorn (my favorite), Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
I love the shutdown effect of the first Windows NT (the kind of creepy one).
As lot of these sounds are nostalgic to me. Probably my first computer was using Windows XP. Then after that it was just vista till about last year and now I'm using Windows 10.

I'm why, but when I set my desktop to one of the backgrounds that came with Windows 7, it changed a lot of my Widows sounds to better fit the background theme. It also got rid of said sounds if you changed backgrounds. Then I stupidly upgraded to Windows 10 with said background in use. Now I can't get rid of the sounds. Oh well they are better than normal Windows sound anyway (aside from the error sound which they somehow made more cancerous).
