I drive a truck at a mine in east central Illinois. This week, I've seen a lot of daylight bucks starting to push does. 8-9AM has been the magic hour so far to see mature bucks cruising here.
Pre rut here in CT, Just starting to see little bucks chasing does, found my first tree rubs the other day, made some nice mock scrapes using hemp jute rope and branch butter! Super excited, temp lows in the 30's, some big swamp donkeys up here in Connecticut!
Eastern ONtario we find the 18th of November seems to be peak buck running. Always seems to be a week of so before, where they just bloody disappear. Maybe thats gun season tho.
Gun season is Nov 4-17 here. The latter part of the two weeks seems to be the peak when bucks move during daylight hours. Los of does right now on the bait pile, and a few bucks moving at nights on the trail camera.
Killed my target buck yesterday morning at 8:15 am. Caught him headed back to bed. 15 yard shot, double lung, went 60 yards and tipped over. Good luck everyone! Things are happening in the whitetail woods in central minnesota. Thanks Jeff for the content. I have learned a lot from you and am a better hunter because of it. 👊🏻
@Goodoverevil2 you got that right brother 88 tom here in Effingham county Georgia week before last was amazing unfortunately I couldn't get to the woods though
Man your videos have got me saving up for a 10 acre parcel. I've been a public, and friends/neighbors farm hunter my whole life, but Im really getting into the idea of managing my own place. Love the vids super cool!
Jafo last weekend and watched a beautiful buck check every doe in the field, Love is in the air in mid Michigan. Good luck fellas & be safe out there 🙏
Looks like you will be taking part of the record breaking warm temps next week too, Jeff. Still about ten days out for the rut to really get going here in WV. Hope this pattern changes soon. These late summer temps are getting ridiculous.
It’s on up here in Wisconsin! Had a hot doe run by at 330 tonight and 7 bucks ended up coming through behind her. 2 shooters but no shot opportunities, they were on a mission.
Jeff, in your waterholes have you ever put any minerals in them? A small mineral block or even a bag of loose mineral? I have a mineral site every summer, and over the last few years the deer have eaten the dirt so deep that when it rains the hole fills up, and I’ve noticed a lot of deer really love drinking that water with the mineral in it. Good luck to you this rut!
I have to tell you that your hunting cold fronts worked again for me last night in Marquette Michigan..beautiful 10 point harvested..I believe only because of weather change and perfect wind conditions...love to show you the buck but don't see how to post it. I met you in Getzes department store a few years ago...
Seen 4 small bucks yesterday. 1 buck following a doe. 1 buck hutting a licking branch and scrape. 10/24 North Eastern Wisconsin Public Land. It's on like Donkey Kong. Too bad I have to work the next 9 days. 😢
Good Morning and thanks for the update from Central Illinois. This Morning I've gotten more Buck pics than I have for a while. The temps in the valley where we hunt at were at or just below freezing. Good Luck hunting.
Don't be saying that I was hoping to hunt this morning but had a squirrelly wind that was shifting each hr this morning I know they was moving just didn't want to risk messing up that spot
Was out this morning as the cold front came in,at 7:00 am a small buck came running towards me and it sounded like it was growling as it went past me , wasn't scared just seemed rutty,at 9:30 a spike came in worked a licking branch and urinated in the scrape and kept going,it's mouth was open and it was breathing heavy, definitely in a rutty mood,I hunt in north East pa,love it I do!.

It's an awesome time of the year! Really enjoyed hunting down there this year! My target buck was growling after some does at 150 yards on Monday afternoon...shot him on Tuesday afternoon 😊 It's that time of the year...
Definitely been seeing pre-rut activity in the last week here in Michigan. I'm seeing a lot more daylight back activity too, including some fighting on camera. Too bad they are not working around my work and kid's school schedule. 😅
My hearing aids are paired to my cell phone I can hear you and nobody else. Can I love listening to your videos while I’m in my tree stand everything you’re talking about is right on target thanks.
It’s go time! I have some property in Henderson county in western Kentucky. Where are you hunting at Jeff? Glad to see another video drop as I shell these dried wild persimmon seeds. Seeing a lot more fighting on the tactacam reveals.
Really starting to see mature bucks hitting scrapes more last few days here in southern Ohio. Great info as always Jeff! Good luck out there and God bless !
ny here reporting that it is not quite happening here yet. had one buck chase off the doe on one of my cams. but also hunted this morning and saw 11 doe, most walked within 20 yards of me and no bucks came by to check on them
A guy a few days ago asked why I hunt western mass. 1 Iive here and 2 I had a monster 10 with a few lil tiny kickers walk under my stand and make a scrape 15 yards out. I’ve only ever killed a 4 Pointer with my muzzle loader. Trying bow this year. Wish me luck. Hopefully he can be my 2nd
I would think this Saturday morning might be the best time we've had in a while to get out based on the overnight low (definitely one of the lowest) for Saturday morning? Although the winds look like almost 0. What are the thoughts on that?
in black hills of SD and I have been seeing a lot more sign and even seen a few buck in the day. I grunted and called in some doe last night. Feels like it is starting!
75’ in the northeast today , absolutely horrible weather for the next 7 days lowest of 58’ degrees one day, buck activity on cell cams Are completely cold right now
I’ve got a nocturnal buck. Maybe a 180”. Shows up every 4 days in the middle of the night but stays on the property all night as it’s 80% soybeans. Hoping he makes a daylight appearance this year
There's no such thing as a nocturnal buck. This mith has been debunk through science. That buck you have is somewhere else during the daylight. He's only on your property during night time.
Jeff, you need to humbly come to eastern Kentucky and school me lol. I watch so much of your content but I struggle finding what I need in the appalachias to be able to put it to use 😞 It seems to be all luck for me 😂
Next week where I hunt (Central WI) , I see the following weather, Tues Hi of 77 and trends down all the way to a low of 34 on Thurs night (rain in between). Are you saying, Friday morning with the low 30's temps is the best time bucks should be on their feet, cause that's the bottom of the cold front, or is it that you suggest hunting the Wed and Thursdays with the cooler "High Temps," because bucks will likely be on their feet each day? Love the channel. Thank you for all your advice and education.
I’m located over in northern Kentucky and we are starting to see rutting activity. My question is the stand I hunted last year had the most rutting activity in the area but the neighbor logged his property in march which borders my stand, should I still hunt that location
Question - Saturday is 56 degrees, 28 at night, then Sunday is 59, and 35 at night. Would it be ideal to hunt the day of a 28 degree night, or the day after? Thanks
Hey Jeff! So I hunt in southern IL and heard you say in the video that the pre rut is still about 1 week out for us. I hunt only ag fields (corn this year) with wooded fence rows on them. I’m curious as to when or if it would be safe for me to start walking through the fields to get to my stand to hunt mornings? Should I wait for the rut to get closer or since the fields have been harvested am I safe to enter my stands post day break? I just want to set myself up for the best chance at success! Thanks for any advice you have!
Shot a 4.5 year old buck here in Georgia on 10/22 came in behind a spike never had this deer on camera he made his first and last appearance. Spike was nervous kept looking back and started to walk away and I grunted and he bursted out of the thicket I guess he thought the spike did it came in on a string gave me a 15 yard shot
What if our property is only 5 acres and deer aren't bedding there, but feed there every night. After the does feed and pass through our property a few bucks follow to scent check...no daytime activity on any deer yet...located in N Florida. Do we hunt temp drops or wait until daytime activity begins?
November 1 is the new moon...and it will change everything...bucks will turn on like no tomorrow... and it will turn on the best of bucks... Nov 7 to 11. Is the golden !!! Might want to be there...good luck!
