I've been watching your videos for years.. I was absolutely clueless how to effectively deer hunt. But the huge weather made me go out yesterday morning, got the stand about 815 as the rain stopped, knowing deer would move after the rain.. shot a buck 45 mins later!! Second buck of my life!!.. heres the kicker... I found basically untouched PUBLIC LAND 12 minutes from my home! And It was only my 3rd hunt of the season.. I waited for perfect weather and wind.. could not have done it without you Jeff!! Thanks for everything!!
An JJ, so happy for you!! I know you have been a loyal commenter and watcher of the vids for years. Thank you so much...I appreciate you, AND CONGRATS!!! Pretty fricken awesome!
That’s hunting. Can’t win every sit. He’s not the master of his woods for no good reason. You’ll get him next sit. Thanks for taking us with you Jeff and Dylan.
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 ain’t that the truth. What a blessing it is that you guys share your knowledge and experience with us. And what a treat it is to us that live and hunt in the south and are getting the itch but it’s not time yet for daylight activity.
Thank you, Jeff. Appreciate you sharing what you’ve learned. I bought a new property this year. I haven’t scouted it or anything. I set up a stand week I owned it. I waited for a cold snap and shot a buck five minutes into my first sit of the year with my bow.
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 thank you! Found a corridor with about five directions of travel coming through it, waiting for a cold snap and a good wind and it came together.
MAN, to be able to jump around to hunt from state to state with multiple stand locations and a plethora of trail cameras is only a DREAM in my world. Congrats and good luck on your season! Hard work pays off!
Hi Jason...we are so fortunate where we live in MN and next to WI. BUT, I did plan that decades ago with career choices and where I live. For example I would never work for someone where I couldn't hunt when I wanted to. So much work but so rewarding. I appreciate you watching!
Great video. I hunted friday morning as well in ohio with a coldfront. We did not see a thing. We did see small does in the pm. We are getting new bucks on cam but still night time
We have lockdown behavior here in central Illinois. Last night, I sat and witnessed a 3.5-4.5-year-old (just out of shooting range) grunting and checking two doe groups he emerged with and keeping two other distant bucks well away from his fantastic rack, one of which was missing a main beam on one side. Thanks for all the tips, Jeff.
Hi Dylan ..lock down for you in about a week ..golden time to hunt right now during this pre rut 😊👍 we are seeing a lot of of our best bucks during daylight right now...pretty awesome!
Hey Brother. Tomorrow is my day to go out here in NW Indiana. It's your perfect senerio. Cold front coming through overnight with temps dropping from a high of 60 today to a low of 35 by morning. With winds dropping from 10-15mph to 2-5mph. Temps drop and wind drops. I'll be out there for sure.
Sitting in the stand now love listening to you jeff while hunting, jeff can you do a video on topo maps and explaining the benches and lines how to read them to know a steep edge ect.
Unfortunately this year we have had no appreciable rain to fill them since early Sept...so we have had to fill them once about 2-4 weeks ago. Even then they are getting low right now...
From past videos I have seen Jeff don't use scent and I believe he would let the deer naturally open it and work it, but he has a vine on his and I think he just pees in it himself, hope this helps!?
So I just went out for my first sip this morning. More of a test to see how things are. Dress way too warm. But within 20 minutes I had a decent 8 or 10 within 40 yards. I just don't think I was comfortable enough making that shot so I passed.... Be honest I should be sitting in the tree stand right now but I forgot a bolt for my seat and a bowl rest so I was pushing it as far as stinking no seat no bow rest... But 20 minutes and there was dark spots in the field and one walked all the way to me turning out to be a decent buck

Thanks for watching Joe, always a fun chess match! We lose most of the time but win at gaining knowledge every time out 👍

You guys are getting close...probably 5 days behind us? I would look towards early to mid week for a great sit in the morning for you!

Thank Jeff. I live in PA but hunt WV. Signs are pointing to the best time of the year. Thanks for the continuing education.
Man good luck Jason...I love these signs 😊

This might be dumb question?your water stations do just let the rain keep them filled or are you bringing water to fill them?
Unfortunately this year we have had no appreciable rain to fill them since early Sept...so we have had to fill them once about 2-4 weeks ago. Even then they are getting low right now...
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 Thank you 😊
I had my shooter buck show up this morning. I have the correct wind direction tonight but only 1-4 mph winds. Go or no?
I would! Unless I'm staring steep downhill and the thermals would pull my scent back down into my shot.
Hey Jeff, thoughts on freshening up a mock scrape under a licking branch if it is covered by leaves. Leave alone or open it up?
Open it up
From past videos I have seen Jeff don't use scent and I believe he would let the deer naturally open it and work it, but he has a vine on his and I think he just pees in it himself, hope this helps!?
Do you ever see anyone hunting their or is it closed to hunting
It's private...but where I hunt on public in 3 states I never see anyone either. People are just plain lazy nowadays.
Do you put mock scrapes at your water holes?
No
