    Great video as always looks like You had a great day on the trap line If I could make a suggestion Maybe you should carry a Trap and bait with you when you go check so this way you don't have to use all that energy going back-and-forth in that deep snow

      Thanks Robert! In the vid you're seeing the few times I needed trap and bait but not the 60+ trips to traps where i dont need them.

    Looked like a fantastic day on the line. Nice mix of mustelids. I hope I spelt it right. Love days like that out there. Makes all the effort worth it. Good luck out there with the rest of your season. 👍👍

    Always exciting to see tracks even when you don’t see the critters, but even better to see fur in the box. Great video

    Great work and a very exciting day! A mustelid bounty for sure!
    Those pelts are really prime! I love to see them like that - so thick they look puffy.
    It would be fun to run that line on a snowmobile or side by side, but not as warm.
    Do you find any pattern on refusals or catches based upon the entrance mesh opening position being diamond, center square, or corner square?

    • @trappingtoday
      @trappingtoday  2 года назад

      Hey, thanks! In general it seems that the diamond opening with mesh at both ends has the least refusals....but this year the critters were so hungry it didn't seem to matter.

    Now that's a great day on the line in anyone's book . You should be using a trap setters . In speaking from experience that your hands will give out

    • @trappingtoday
      @trappingtoday  2 года назад

      Haha maybe they will! I've started using setters when putting the line out. Remakes aren't too bad.

      I started using setters on my big traps, I can set a 330 by hand, but it's a lot easier to use a setter. Same with the MB 750's I use for wolves, I can manage without, but it's 10x easier with setters, and I seldom catch my own glove anymore

    I just found your channel. I have a deer camp in the Moosehead Lake area. Do you carry a rifle while running your line?

    • @trappingtoday
      @trappingtoday  2 года назад

      Hey glad you found it. Yeah I keep a rifle in the truck but almost never see deer out there.

    I'm surprised to hear that you cannot snare in Maine. Interesting!

    I myself catch more mink in my fisher traps then I do by water, up on the high ridges they seem to be better furred.

    why dont you take extra traps and bait with you so you dont have to take a extra trip back to the truck
