    Wonderful machine I enjoyed my time with mine but ultimately decided at 5 foot 7 and 65kg it was a bit hefty for me. Be prepared to have a lot of attention when stopped anywhere. Agreed you do have to hustle it a bit and plan ahead but on fast sweepers it’s sublime. As always your summation is bang on.

    I had a 1100 sports, couldn't afford the Daytona. What a wonderful bike it was. I loved that bike. My no good brother totaled it. He did say he was sorry. I managed to buy a lemans first of the first Australia delivered 1976. Which I like, but I don't love like the 1100 sports

    Always wanted the RS, but did find and currently ride an 1100 Sport, very accurate description of the "ridability" of these bikes. I think I'll go and find a Yoga class!!! 😎

    Thanks Mike for this unbiased review; I was considering purchasing one of them Daytona as there is a current opportunity; I already own a V11 Le Mans from 2004, and the Daytona has the same engine base, albeit with a four valves top.
    I am going to pass on purchasing the Daytona which comes at about the same price of the Mandello V100.

    Hi mike great videos, i just subscribed
    I am curious if these bikes are problematic....
    seems like you have alot of experience are you a mechanic too
    I think i can see that bike for sale online. Nice
    Thanks!

      No I'm not a mechanic, I worked in the media. Moto Guzzi's are probably the most reliable Italian bikes of this era in my opinion.
      The Daytona engine is pretty bullet proof if it's been looked after. Cam belt changes are a bit of a pain though if you want to work on your own bike so in that regard I'd recommend the two valve models like the 1100 Sport & V11 series.
      I had a look on Bike Sales and this one is still for sale. If you are interested in a Daytona definitely get a test ride first. The seating position isn't for everyone.

    What great information! Loved the review. I hope these videos last forever, absolutely love the institutional knowledge you just can't find anywhere else. Riding one is definitely on the bucket list!

    Aren’t you ever worried about a Kangaroo jumping out at you on those roads?

    • @MikesMachines
      @MikesMachines  Год назад +4

      Kangaroos are usually seen around dawn and dusk. You don't see them that much at other times. And yes I have hit a kangaroo on a bike. It was way back in the nineties on my own Daytona. Fortunately it was just a glancing blow and I didn't come off. The other big hazard on our roads are wombats. But they are more of a problem at night.

    Almost bought one when I lived in Brisbane many years ago, but friends told me they were very uncomfortable to ride. So I gave it a pass not knowing much about bikes at the time. Regret that decision. But now that I'm back in Canada I have a Speed Twin 1200 and Moto Guzzi Griso in red. So I finally got myself a Guzzi. But the Daytona is just beautiful.

    Thank you Mike, would the Daytona accommodate a 6' tall rider? How close do one's knees get to the top of the pots?

    • @MikesMachines
      @MikesMachines  Год назад +1

      I'm just over 6ft so you should have no problems there. Long arms are an advantage too.
