    * John Henry Cantlie (born 1970) is a British war photographer and correspondent who was kidnapped in Syria with James Foley in November 2012 and remains a hostage. He had previously been kidnapped in Syria in July 2012 but was rescued a week later.
Cantlie had not appeared in western print or on social media since late 2012, and the trial of one of his alleged captors collapsed in 2013, when he could not be summoned as a witness. In November 2012, it was revealed Cantlie had been abducted a second time, along with American journalist James Foley. Their taxi driver and Foley's translator were not taken, however. They had reportedly been working together on a film about Cantlie’s first abduction. Foley was beheaded in August 2014.
After disappearing for almost two years following his second abduction in late 2012, Cantlie resurfaced on 18 September 2014 in a video posted by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or IS) in the first episode of a multi-part series entitled "Lend Me Your Ears". In July 2017, reports surfaced in Iraqi media claiming Cantlie had been killed sometime during the battle of Mosul.

I’ve owned both of these... I still own the Guzzi after 12 years, and I’ll never sell it. Other bikes come and go but nothing puts a smile on my face like my V11.

As did I. I had an '02 V11 'greenie' as well as '02 and '03 RSV Mille 'R''s. Also, concurrently had a 2003 BMW R1100S. Got rid of the Guzzi as it didn't do anything as well as the others (but look the part). Just a mechanical 'contraption' that did nothing 'comparatively' well. The Aprilia's out 'everythinged' the Guzzi, and the R1100S not only easily outhandled it, it also outbraked and outaccelerated it... again... with ease.
My 10 year younger brother would mount any of the machines and between us, often swapping from one to another for the specific purpose of an 'objective' not 'subjective' comparo, we'd dice up and down local canyon roads to 'roll ons' from various speeds out in the Mojave desert and the verdict was always infallible. "Greenie" was always the bike we'd adamantly voice our displeasure with when compared to the others. Not even apples and oranges. More like an army boot and running shoe.
Horses for courses I suppose. Oh, and by the way - I'm 65 years old so my assessment does not spring from a young 'ricky racer' type.

I agree 100%. I own 2 V11s. 1 is a LeMans. They're not the fastest things in the world, but they do make me grin.

Wow a very surprising end result, in my opinion the correct end result as the Guzzi's are a real riders bike and contrary to popular arrogant beliefs the Guzzi's are bullet proof, handle brilliantly and have very underrated motors which are quirky yet supply very good performance, V11 10 /10 , Rsv 1000 8/10, and yes I have owned both, stay safe brothers and sisters!👍

My 1990 Le Mans MkV maximum torque came in at just a bit over 6000 rpm, which equates to just over 180 kph in top gear. At that speed, it could burst through brick walls and keep going.

Love my (Now Dead) V11 NERO Corsa .. just don't drive it while exploring some steep coastal unpaved roads along the California coast. The "stories" about the "oil pick up" being at the front of the oil pan are absolutely 100% true. Yes Sir, they are. Trust me. You WILL seize. FACT. But she is wonderful to ride. In fact my favorite bike in my lifetime, and I'm 71.

@@markanstey2654 Hello Mark. As I posted. I owned a 'greenie' ('02 V11 Sport - now gone for 6 years) pristine with the factory carbon bikini fairing and dual performance exhaust, which I bought from a mate who was the original owner with a bit less than 6K miles . Still have my BMW R11S (now at 162K miles, original motor on the second trans and final drive) and still have my Aprilia's along with a Honda VFR1200F (rare bird which looks the business but handles like a pig) . The Guzzi was an 'okay' bike that just didn't do much for me. I even joined the Guzzi owners forum and closely followed suggestions and tips - did the frame brace mod along with air filer pod retrofit. The BMW just beat up on the Guzzi at will and without issue just about everywhere - but - subjectively... looks.

@@bmepdoc9675interesting. I love my V11 - the only thing which lets it down I’d say is the suspension which is a little too firm for my dodgy back (I have fitted a Maxton rear shock which has helped ) .
I love the very raw riding experience this bike gives and the accompanying soundtrack. I also have a Tiger 1050 which is a great bike but feels a bit dull after the Guzzi. I’ve had Aprilias in the past and really do like them - in fact if I changed the Tiger I’d probably get a Capanord 1200.
