I tried to follow your workflow and ran into problems with the solidify modifier not extruding the object along the y-axis resulting in an odd shape.
I noticed that when extruding edges the vertices of the original edge got duplicated. fixed it by enabling auto merge vertices/manual merging by distance.
You didnt enable the auto merge while extruding but seem to not have duplicate vertices - why?
Thanks in advance and thank you for the videos, I really in enjoy them :)
ps: using Blender 4.2 if that matters

Make sure you have proportional Editing turned off... Rookie mistake which I spent a while trying to figure out.
Also I kept finding that there was so much geometry going on around the cursor mark were a lot of the mirroring was going on that when I add a solidify mod it causes a lot of issues. Ended on carrying on then applying the mirror mods and then merge by distance which cleared about 40 verts and then it all works clean. Not ideal for the reasons stated at the end of the video but lets me carry on with the tutorial.

Can you explain where proportional editing created an issue? I don't think I enabled it throughout the entire video?
Regarding the mirroring, are you ensuring that you're turning on bisect? That would make sure that there is no overlapping geometry which i think might be causing your issue

Sorry, I had it on by accident when beginning this tutorial. It actually slightly affected the geometry when extruding the semi circle to create the wall around the arch.
I did have bisect on I’m at a loss what’s happened, iv checked normals, applied scale/rotation and checked all faces havnt accidentally flipped 🤷‍♂️

Same issue, but this helped a lot - THANK YOU

Really enjoying this, have a fair bit of basic knowledge but started from the beginning and different teacher have their own tricks and have learnt some new stuff. It might be useful for newbies to point out when you switch between modes as not always apparent if the toolbar isn't visible even though the mode selector displays it. You do switch in and out quickly sometimes. My first attempt at archviz and will definitely finish this although the arch was tricky as I created duplicate edges which messes things up going forward. Thanks
