for anyone wondering, to achieve that "blurry" look in the background, you gotta take note of the aperture of the lens. This is why the 50mm lenses get that look because the aperture can go as large as f/1.8
I believe it was mentioned that it was actually a 50mm f1.2 6:06
It's a quick summary: the aperture of a lens will determine the depth of field in relation to the distance between the lens and the subject, and you have to take into account the size of the sensor (as obviously the focal lenght), which will have an impact on the depth of field. Background blur is a question of the ratio between the distance between the subject lens and the background subject, and in the end you can have a very nice bokeh at f5.6.
Crazy how physical locations change the vibe of a shoot so much. Love the pics!
Step one: Move to a beautiful island!
Step 2: be kamui
Step 3: get them corgis
Step four: get a Benny to photograph you!
@@xmobile. More like : find a Benny in the wild to take your pictures 🤣
Updated closet/studio tour please now that (maybe) you've settled in to your new home! Also as a newbie cosplayer, I'm wondering how you store and organize all your cosplays and props!
Costume, photos, and videos were all wonderful! Love how you all work together so well.
Omg what a beautiful landscape! I bet there are loads of good shooting places around your new residence huh.
You're a god-send to cosplayers. Thanks to you, Benjamin, and the Corgis, for all the work you put into sharing your knowledge with us!
you have so many skills! from sewing, to painting, photography and 3D modeling! I'm glad you found an outlet that lets you make use of them all.. I hope to do the same!
Great results as always guys. Makes such a difference being able to shoot on location.. Was going to say, the only thing lacking in studio photoshoot is, different terrain height to interact with, unless you wanted to stand on pillows or towels to simulate rocks or something?
Thank you! We actually never did that since our old studio had a very low sealing. It’s something we really want to try with CGI backgrounds in the future though! 😊
Thank you for all your tutorials and showing us how you do your photo shoots.
After all these years, this is still the best cosplay channel on the net. ❤❤
Thank you for taking the time talking about the camera equipment you use and have used.
I’m going to hold on to my DSLR as long as I can but I can see the benefits going to the mirrorless camera.
It is insane the difference in quality when you shoot the video with the Canon Camera! It is so pristine!!!!
She looks really great in her costumes. 😍
You both did an amazing job on the costume and photo
What a cool gift from Canon. I am looking forward to having your videos filmed with it, as the improvement in quality is absolutely visible. CORGI
She did say that the Canon EOS R5 works on Corgis. I'm SOLD!!! 😁
An amazing photo shoot and an amazing cosplay. You guys are so cool and passionate about your art. Love it!!!
I'll keep these ideas in mind thanks
Loved this video! So much fun (as usual). Thanks Svetlana & Benni!
Cheers from California.
Your cosplays are always such an inspiration!! (I also love how your books are written, I have adhd yet I don’t struggle to read them at all!)
Great vid! Love how you talk about the equipment v image.
Always impressed by your openess and enthusiasm.
Keep on keeping on guys.
Would like to see a female 'Gears of War' build, be ahead of the possible film.
Hey Guys, great video as always. I really love that you always make a point of involving your pets. I appreciate the intoduction to lenses.
Incredible Costume and results! And that equipment :O
Although not really a tutorial.
I do cosplay photo shoots all the time. Thanks for the new tips
As always, absolute admiration and love to everything you both do 🙌🏻❤ the dedication and passion can be feel through the screen. You always motivate me to improve myself in the cosplay world. ❤ Thank you!
Btw: I wonder who's the person that helps you recording when you were both busy with the photoshoot in the park? 🤔 The shoots look like it was a person standing and I don't think Midna nor Zelda know how to use a camera 😂
Yes I enjoyed the video indeed... Looking forward to more of all your future costumes shot on the country side in M@deria...
As a photographer I have a few thoughts about this video. Sounded like a ad for Canon. But I do think that a lot of the general advice they give is on spot. 50 mm in its 1.8, 1.4 or 1.2 variance will all give you excellent background separation. Personally, I like to use 135 or 85 lenses. The good news is is that the 50 mm 1.2 years available from Sony Nikon and Canon.
do more videos like this , I love it
The Fanal Forest is like a fantasy land! Just gotta dodge the cow pies everywhere 😅
It's the Cow Level!
Outstanding! Benny is making you Awesome. I bought your Book.
I like it very much, so I make it 100% my own specification, and my buddy with a very wonderful photographer reproduces a real fantasy.
ty.
There's more ADS than VIDEO in this VIDEO. Usually it's kinda ok, but here it's really sad to see...
Absolutely amazing, awesome advice, and gorgeous areas.
Actually, you can achieve the same look with a cheap combo: a 2nd Canon 6D (or 5D Mk III) and a Canon 85mm f1.8 lens which will cost you only ~$650 in total. You have to step back a little bit but the quality is pretty much the same.

CORGI 🐶🐕
Awesome, I've just gotten started into photography and would like to do photoshoots.
I've been waiting for another photography video!
Amazing!
You can take pretty good shots with a decent smart fone too let's not forget. The camera on my Samsung is pretty awesome.
Tell Benny to use the lens hood... Nice to see your both loving Madera.
love the star trek bathrobe :"D
Corgi squad! ❤
I’m loving all this content. We’re eating good! 🎉
The Nifty 50--a 50mm f/1.8--is my favorite lens. Both Cannon and Nikon make these inexpensive and highly flexible lens.
Corgi Squad 🦊
I really miss doing these shoots!
Thanks for sharing your video
The pics turned out great 👍
As always Svetlana, you are quite lovely 🌹 and the costume is fabulous.
🐾 ⚔️ 💕
To begin with , you are so beautiful that any background pales in comparison to you . This was an interesting post thank you.
Somehow it makes me sad. There are many people who want a camera like this and can never afford it and you are given a camera worth €3500 for free.
To get to a whole new level with it try some professional lightpainting. Goes very well with cosplay since it can introduce a lot of the fantasy light effects that games have and look realistic with it. The usual stuff with photoshoping whole scenes or effects on the photos look fake most of the time, but with lightpainting it looks extremely realistic. Well because it is real and the lighting is really coming from the effects you add in. It is also quite satisfying that it is a real photo straight out of the camera and looks amazing without any kind of pixel pushing in photoshop.
Very awesome setting, wonderful cosplay costume and a beautiful woman = Great combo 🤩
And superb results 🥰
Your studio is setup , and it looks good .😀😀😀😯😉😈😈😎💀💀
What a great tut 🙂
beautiful !
Groovy
But who took the video of Benny and Svetlana together? hmmmm 🤔🤔🤔
Immer wieder fantastisch1 😀
Great work as always! Think I have to address the elephant in the room though: Who is the 3rd member of the team that took shots of the 2 of you? :D
Me, cosplay photographer (among other things): So, class is in session, huh? LET'S-A-GO ¬¬
BTW, the Canon 50mm 1.4 is not as expensive as the 1.2 and is A BEAST. I'm madly in love with it (I don't shoot any of my cosplay photoshoots without it...) and the last time, it cost 370€, if I'm correct... You DON'T need a 1.2 aperture!! Work your references and technique and this will be more than enough!! ^^
You are wery COOL ! 👍👍👍
NICE
Star Trek Bademantel 😆 Geil.
I love your channel and I recently subscribed and I was wondering if you could do a tutorial about the dark deku's hood and mask from my hero academia? I have tried to find a pattern or template to do it in eva rubber.
could you? thanks in advance
where did you get the gray background from?
0:56 I bet you can see the moon's surface with those things if calibrated right.
No doubt a great camera can help, but if you don’t have a beautiful subject to start with, your lost. Which explains the great results!
I am Nikon user. I think, 70-200mm F4.0 telescope lens is good for portrait photography too.
Super Takumar 28mm f3.5
Super Takumar 50mm f1.4,
Tamron sp 19ah 70mm-210mm f3.5 / Tamron sp 52a 70mm-210mm f3.5
These are some of the best buget manual lenses to get and you can adapt them to any mirrorless cameras.
I noticed other people walking around your chosen photo shoot area. Did you have any interesting interaction with anyone? 💜💜💜💜
Not really. Usually Zelda and Midna are really good at distracting everyone with their cuteness! 😅
$5k for a Canon EOS R5??? .....i think i'll stick to my smartphone for now lol. Really nice video though, some great exterior shots.
Hi, i know that my question is not related with taking photo, but it is normal that in my foam clay are started creating bubbles ? Help please im super confused whats going on😅
Oh, sorry to hear that! I really depends on the brand I guess. I get mine from cosplayshop.be and never had these issues. Maybe it’s coming from too high temperatures?
0:56 lol!!! Ummm, 💦dream?! I couldn’t believe my ears. Maybe y’all aren’t familiar with the meaning of that phrase? Lol!! 😜👍
My only critique of this whole awesome cosplay is that.....Necromancers don't smile often....it just seems so out of character. It looks like you are smiling in every shot.
i thinks its kinda weird to advertise something no normal person in this community can afford unless you get them for free, or to be a professional.
Well u can save like I did 🤷🏿 but your right but I’m learning photography so this is helpful for me
Canon are probably terrified that smartphone technology can now perform as well or better than a DSLR in 90pc of use cases...
And would say taking a picture of a person standing still in a field in daylight... Isn't a challenge!!
Where a real camera wins is where artistic /manual controls /settings are used... Moving subjects, long range, complex scenes, low light, etc.
And honestly you either love cameras and photography or you don't.
You have to love it to drop €1k+ on the body, then again for every lens... and it takes time and effort to learn, even with clever sensors and automation.
Not sure who Canon are marketing to in this vid... Other RUclipsrs??
Did I mistake the Canon sponsorship?? Did they just GIVE you 10€k worth of gear??!
You guys deserve it, but wow.
How to take cosplay photos….Step 1: Have Canon send you $10,000 in camera gear Step 2: take pictures…😢
buy my books!
Canon is great so I chose Sony
Schön, aber die Stimme. Nicht hörbar. Schade.
She acts like a child trapped in a woman's body.
I hope to make such great cosplays like you guys one day🥹
