Worse, when I was a kid I loved Warpspeed, but I couldn't find any other first person space dogfighting games on the SNES. It wasn't until I got my PC a few years later that I learned about X-Wing, TIE-Fighter and X-Wing vs TIE Fighter.
Gargenville DKC3 does some decent guitars. They sound nothing like an actual guitar I guess, but the sound is still cool, so I guess that’s all that really matters

Donkey kong really took a lot of features of the SNES to the next level. Graphics and sound, it was better than most games. And most games were better than these

Captain Novolin sounds like a character you'd make up today so that he can explain to people with Type 1 diabetes how to inject their insulin correctly. EDIT: And it was an educational game...what in the sandwich fuck.
Captain Novolin is the most pathetic superhero I've ever seen. He has no powers or special abilities, only the fact that he is handicapped by diabetes. Sure, Sportacus could only eat and live out healthy, but at least he's super active and puts a good example on healthy living. Also, he doesn't call himself a super hero, just a slightly above average hero. Captain Novolin fails at being a game as much as it fails at being a good source of education. And unfortunately, he's not the only failed mascot from the 4th generation to attempt at both those things only to screw up big time!

When a developer had no idea how to work with the SNES sound chip, everything sounds like it's under a rock (or a conjunction of farts that try to sound like music, as I'd like to call it), which is not only annoying to hear, but it's also sleep inducing. In no way that could be considered good.
Little Magic! Damn, that was a great game. Instead of passing, play the GBC port. It has completely different and much improved graphics _and_ sound but all the same difficult puzzles. The expert puzzles towards the end get really crazy! It's still Japan only but there is a patch for the small amount of text.

Dude, you must be sound designer or composer, because you really appreciate the sound as an element that drives action and emotion. As a sound designer myself (and music composer at some degree) I share 99% of your comments. Part of who I am and what I love comes from that fantastic music I used to listen while playing SNES titles and sounds. For example, I always loved that SF2: The World Warriors had a different intensity depending of the button you pressed while performing a special move. That super cool thing only can be found in that specific game and I don’t understand why CAPCOM never used again, but it definitely impacted my game experience and seeded on my the passion for sound.
Second honorable mention: Pit Fighter. That song literally sounds like it's having a stroke about 12 seconds in, and I can't unhear the crowd chanting in the background with that one guy who sounds like he's constantly shouting "motherf*cker." Just me? ruclips.net/video/aEBoN9cH1iQ/видео.html

Here a dishonorable mention that virtually no one speaks of... Ranma 1/2: Super Battle, which was released only in Japan. Now the other Ranma 1/2 games on the SNES always had bad soundtracks. But what makes Super Battle’s soundtrack the worst of the bunch is how much of a train wreck it is on every conceivable level. First of all, the songs are utterly annoying. They sound too honky, & garbled, & you’ll be tempted to play the game with the volume muted. At times, it sounds like people trying to imitate instruments through an aging vocoder. And there’s the sound quality, which is some of the lowest I ever heard on the SNES. It’s so muffled & unclean that even Sega Genesis music sounds like top quality SNES music in comparison!

As a sound designer myself (and music composer at some degree) I share 99% of your comments. Part of who I am and what I love comes from that fantastic music I used to listen while playing SNES titles and sounds. For example, I always loved that SF2: The World Warriors had a different intensity depending of the button you pressed while performing a special move. That super cool thing only can be found in that specific game and I don’t understand why CAPCOM never used again, but it definitely impacted my game experience and seeded on my the passion for sound.

That song literally sounds like it's having a stroke about 12 seconds in, and I can't unhear the crowd chanting in the background with that one guy who sounds like he's constantly shouting "motherf*cker."

Here a dishonorable mention that virtually no one speaks of... Ranma 1/2: Super Battle, which was released only in Japan. Now the other Ranma 1/2 games on the SNES always had bad soundtracks. But what makes Super Battle’s soundtrack the worst of the bunch is how much of a train wreck it is on every conceivable level. First of all, the songs are utterly annoying. They sound too honky, & garbled, & you’ll be tempted to play the game with the volume muted. At times, it sounds like people trying to imitate instruments through an aging vocoder. And there’s the sound quality, which is some of the lowest I ever heard on the SNES. It’s so muffled & unclean that even Sega Genesis music sounds like top quality SNES music in comparison!
