Thank you! Looks like I can replace the burner element on my Amana stove the same way. A point to remember, first, is check the adjustment control itself (the dial) ...just switch a good one for another one on the top panel to make sure it is not the control knob itself. Fairly simple to interchange.
what is it when the burner is still working but going right to HIGH and not anything lower? I set it at 2 and it goes BRIGHT to HIGH and get WAY too hot.
I think I need to replace the thermostat on my large burner.I thought I had turned it down to medium and came back in the kitchen from doing something and it was still on med high.. would that be a thermostat or the dial where you control the temperature?
Many models have the dial be the "thermostat" , while it may not measure the temperature as a thermostat it acts as the control for the temperature setting based on electrical current that it allows to "pass". Each model may be different so best to check your model and confirm.
Can either be a bad switch or the burner's 2nd element is not bad so only one of the two light up). Disconnected range and test switch (you tube how to do test on the switch), if it is good, then it is likely the burner that would need to be replaced.

One by one all of mine quit working except for the little "warming zone" in the back. I have gotten an old stove from someone to ise fir parts.

My stove look exactly the same but it's a whirlpool. What size is the biggest burner on the bottom right? I need that one replace.
I advise you measure it to make sure you get the exact / correct fit. The one I have may not match your size.
