  • Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is a bizarre roller coaster at Universal Studios Florida with on-board audio, a non-inverting loop, and some funky profiling from Maurer-Sohne. It gets a lot of criticism among coaster enthusiasts, but I think it's Universal's most underrated coaster.

I rode this for the first time today and my expectations were blown out of the water! I was expecting a mediocre ride, and got an ejector filled ride with great restraints, and the audio is a nice touch. My favorite song to use is 113 (Immigrant Song) My favorite element is the hill leading up into I think the second MCBR. That gave the strongest airtime, however the non inverting loop is awesome too

Loved this review! It's so funny to hear you say "the final midcourse brake run". I was actually blown away by this coaster when I first rode it. I expected it to be lame and just like you, I thought there was an abundance of airtime and the non-inverting loop is great. I actually greyed out on the bigger helix, I was not expecting any of that. I'm glad i'm not the only one in the coaster community to love this ride.

It's definitely not glass smooth, but the restraints prevent pain so I don't mind it.

The final midcourse break run is actually the best airtime on the ride!! (Back row only). The steepness of that 1 little drop gives RMC levels of Ejector in the back row with some room! I’m telling that moment shocked the hell out of me, and went Rockiting (Pun Intended) in my rankings at #7 out of 80! And I got one of my favorite songs, Painkiller by Judas Priest and the ride was at night!! Tbh the whole experience with this ride is made by the music! Without it sucks, but that 1 ride I got was one of the best coaster experiences of my life!

This ride sure is awesome! I still like Hagrid’s better when it comes to automatic moving platform coasters. I’d add in a few more songs in the secret song list.
    1. Good Mood (Adam Levine, PAW Patrol: The Movie, 801)
    2. Walk Don’t Rango (Rango, 802)
    3. Goofy Goober Rock (SpongeBob Movie, 803)
    4. All Star (Shrek, 804)
    5. I’m a believer (Shrek, 805)
    6. Heathens (21 Pilots, Suicide Squad, 806)
    7. Bad Reputation (Shrek, 807)
    8. Accidentally In Love (Shrek 2, 808)
    9. Speed Me Up (Sonic The Hedgehog, 809)
    10. Stars in the Sky (Sonic The Hedgehog 2, 810)
    11. Down Like That (Bryson Tiller, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie, 811)
    12. I like to Move It! (Reel 2 Real, 812)

I’ve always said that it has a great layout, but the manufacturer they picked did cause it to become a little rough. Even then, i still don’t think its a bad coaster. In a smaller park it would probably be way less hated.
I’ve went on way rougher coasters, this wouldn’t even make my top 10 list of rough rides

I’ve ridden the rockit many times, it’s a great ride! I think you nailed it with this review cause your pointing out all the positives as well as the negatives. I don’t mind the brake runs at all, like you said you get good airtime into em and a couple of em have good drops. But besides the brake runs it does keep you entertained with that unique layout which is a lot of fun. Can’t wait till this covid thing is over so I can go back.

I really like this ride, but I think it’s an odd match for Universal. It has a low capacity trains, and it can’t run during 10 mph winds. I just think in retrospect it would’ve been a better idea for the park to get a more reliable ride along the lines of a b&m hyper, just for reliability, capacity, and longevity, but I think overall this is a more unique ride. Those bonecrushing positive gs on the return run near the end are awesome, also the ejector you get hopping in and out of the brake runs is a lot of fun. I did notice a slight rattle on my rides, but I’m usually never bothered by rattles/vibrations, my tolerance is pretty high. I’d probably give this an eight as well. The on ride music is also pretty cool too. Listening to rage against the machine while riding a coaster is something I never could’ve dreamed of lol.

Nice review. Going in a few days. Unfortunately on my last visit. Was not able to fit in the test seat outside. Been reading up on the ride and apparently there is some type of modified seating to accommodate bigger guests. But have been reading conflicting reviews. Any help would be appreciated. Was able to ride everything else at Universal except this one.

Rock It without all the break runs and the original covering for the ugly lift structure would have been a world class coaster. It's still fun, but it's unfortunate it's not more visually appealing and we couldn't get some sustained airtime with the break runs. Necessary for capacity, but still unfortunate. It still seems very ugly to me all these years later.
