Love this! A steel guitar is wonderful to listen to. This is what real country music is!! The crap they play and sing today is terrible and they should be ashamed calling it country music!!
I would like to pay my due respect and tribute to this great and awesome country singer. Even though he is no longer living in this world however his great contribution to the music entertainment industry still exist. His singing and gifted talent will live forever in this universe. Thank you.
"God" was only on planet earth for 30 yrs and there were NO "cowboys" in those days. In fact America did not even exist until 1900 yrs later. Please do not blaspheme Jesus (who is God almighty) to make your points. Incidentally, all the talents ("gifts") that exist, were given by Jesus at birth. Oh indeed yes. So whenever ANY one does well like this steel player, give the cause to Jesus. For the talents did not do it. He did. Praise His Holy Name.
Jesus, Son of God, has no problem with me saying He must be a cowboy, and they have been around much longer than you know. As long as there have been cattle and men tending to them there have been cowboys. They don't have to be Americans.
Great Job Here Tony. Slim was a friend and a neighbor for many years. Couldn't travel across the country to attend his funeral at the time, however I have, in respect, since visited his gravesite. Thank you Tony for this great memory, C.W.
Thanks again C.W. It was listening to an old Slim Whitman 78 record many years ago that got me into country music and later, steel guitar. Fortunate enough to see Slim in the UK on a few occasions. One of the country legends who'll never be equalled in with unique , relaxed style.
Slim dies at juni 19 at the hospital. 90 years old! One of the last great country singer. Tony will you make a new tribute to Slim on RUclips. So he will never forget! Thanks a lot!
I agree with Judith Rupple. The steel guitar can be very sad and melancholy, but it’s also very relaxing and soothing. Wish I had the talent and ability to play one myself.
@@edmondlull3108 My Dad played and gave steel guitar lessons. He's 'gone' and I now realize just how talented he was....just took it for what it was. Sure wish I could tell him now how much I appreciated him and his talent. I, too, get teary eyed when listening to steel guitar!
Thank you.this what we need this time we of confusing. Everyone shoul just l ove God and enjoy life.He is incontrol nothing we can do.His will not ours.❤
The steel guitar 🎸 almost sounds Hawaiian! It's sound is so pretty and soothing! And this is a wonderful cover of these familiar songs! Such talent! Thanks again! 😊❤

When I was homesick doing basic training at Rantoul, Ill. air base I would go to the airman's club and play Slim Whitman records. He lived about 30 miles from where I was born in Florida. He was always a favorite of mine. I never understood why some people made fun of his singing. Just meaness, I guess. I'm glad to know that he enjoyed a long life. He was very popular in Europe, moreso than in this country.
My Ma came to Canada from Norfolk in 1946 as a war bride. She loved country music and Slim Whitman was a favourite. Whenever I hear Brenda Lee singing it reminds me of her as she sounded just like her.
I live in Jacksonville Florida and slim lived about 10 miles from my house. I have talked to him several times before he died. Sure miss him and his music. R.I.P Slim.
This is one of my favorite videos by a very talented guy. I wish I could play like this. I started late in life but I’m determined to learn how to play the pedal steel guitar. Such an unique instrument.

I was a great fan of Slim Whitman and met him several times when he toured the UK in the early 70's. Great to here this. Gerry West played steel for him on that tour. Slim recorded with the likes of Hoot Rains and Tinker Fry
Hi. I was also lucky enough to see Slim twice in the UK at that time. I have the album recorded live during one of those tours. Never be another like Slim Whitman. Totally unique, effortless style.
