So happy to see you're advertising the bioinformatics field. I had pretty close experience with bioinformatics as you did, I was also terrified in the beginning and not interested in coding as well, but once I started it turned into my passion and not just a job but also a hobby. Also, I think for those who have biological knowledge and want to get a bit of an idea about bioinformatics, Galaxy is a really nice platform where you can run so many different tools depending on the goal of your analysis. The best part is it does not require any programming skills and it is really user-friendly.
Hey can i ask, bioinformatics is very different with computational chemistry right? I have a degree in chemistry, if i take a master in bioinformatics do you think its worth it?
You’re so correct about the gap in the market regarding bioinformatics courses/information. I’m a microbiology undergraduate student interested in pursuing a career in bioinformatics & I’d love to see a course designed by you! Thanks for all the wonderful content.

Bioinformatics by UC San Diego is a great bioinformatics course provided on coursera. I highly recommend it to anyone who has basic biology and programming knowledge. I finished the course couple of months ago and I currently posses a good foundation in the field.

As someone who worked in the Biomedical field during Covid I found learning about data and how to analyse it was far more interesting to me then running tests. For anyone who did a maths or computer science undergrad, MSc bioinformatics courses welcome you with open arms. It was a really good experience for me as a maths undergraduate because i helped everyone on my course with the stats and algorithms modules and they in turn helped with proteins and genomics modules 😊 Also, if you have any advice to get through a PhD, that would be brilliant. Great video, Thanks for making this one. keep going. I am a Bachelors student in Biotech and Microbiology in my 2nd year and I am planning on pivoting to Bioinformatics in 2025 with a great course. I am from India, where are you from? can you make videos on the above topics- 1. a general road map for bioinformatics? 2. best colleges to do MS in Bioinformatics. 3. a video on what tools and devices you use as a bioinformatician and also what tools and devices you would recommend for beginners. 4. I am enrolling for a bioinformatics Course where I'll learn Python, R and bioinformatics tools like blast, embosswin and these types of softwares, so are there any new softwares you want to recommend to a beginner to create a strong foundation for their career in bioinformatics. 5. can you recommend some books and online resources and opportunities for international students. thanks for doing these informational videos, the next generation of Bioinformaticians need your support and guidance to grow well. Much love from India
Do you need special device to do the exercises in class ? Because I am studying for a biology degree and honestly I really am struggling with diagrams and drawings on laptop but I am afraid a tablet is way too weak to actually be useful in a bioinformatic master. Have I good reasons to worry or not ?
Hi! I'm coursing a biomedical sciences degree. I wish to work on bioinformatics, genetic modifications on animals and plants and things like that. Do bioinformatics applies to genetic mod as well? I'm wondering molecular biology is preferred for doing that. I also am interested in medical genetics, like rare diseases. I'm at that part of the course where we doubt our decisions omg
Thank you so much for this video. This is what i exactly needed as i am pursuing masters in bioinformatics and also as a career option. I would love for you to create a bioinformatics course. I have questions, though. I'm in my final year majoring in zoology. I am also doing my internship in a wet lab, learning about extracting DNA and all. Does this count as having a background in biology? Also...my gpa isn’t the best so i wonder if what you stated in the video can apply to my situation?
Thanks for your video but i have some questions , i have a bachelor degree in biotechnology can someone after MSC in bioinformatics can be a AI specialist or data scientist and how much bioinformatics specialist tasks in industry field
Hi! I'm about to finish my undergraduate degree in chemical engineering. I was wondering if there's anything similar to bioinformatics in my field - something that combines chemical engineering and informatics. Thank you!
cheminformatics! Not sure if it’s an actual job title but I’ve seen listings for chemical informatics internships. You could also look into molecular modeling
I'm in need of help for my dissertation about bioinformatics! Can someone help me? Basically my title is to assess the effects of genetic variants on protein function. Should retrieve datasets from clinvar and uniprot for at least 3 cancers, process them, annotate them with the help of ensembl vep and annovar. I am doing it with Google colab. I did the data retrieval so far but since there are a lot of names for cancers like for breast cancer there's breast neoplasm, carcinomas. So what i should is to type in breast cancer in the input and it should tell me these are also the other terms of breast cancer, would you like to select these as well. I am stuck here about this part. Can someone help?
I don’t think you should select all types of breast cancer. If it says at least 3 types. Then you can select the number you want under breast cancer. But if you are working with other types of cancer, you can select one type of each type of cancer that you are working with. In my opinion, I would think you would be checking the genetic variation among the different types of breast cancer since it’s supposed to be closely related OR the different type of a particular cancer type (say carcinoma) in different parts of the body. Ask your supervisor for guidance
Really good video...the best thing about this video was that you gave so much information and there was no unnecessary background music...thank you very much for that... please DO NOT include background music in videos where you share vital knowledge as it only distracts viewers. Truly loved your video. Just felt that you could dive deeper into the biology needed to get into bioinformatics.
Yay great! And oo I think It truly depends on the field of bioinf you want to work in! As like I said it can be any field in biology! I personally am in genomics and feel that my undergrad prepared me super well!
Hi I like your video and you seem to be very motivated and very intellectual which is inspiring. I am from Canada and was thinking of studying in the UK, do you mind if I ask, what school did you attend for the bioinformatics program?
Heyy I'm thinking of doing a masters in bioninformatics, but I also enjoy wet lab and I have a lot of experience in it. Do you think it's possible in a job to work in a wet lab and do bioinformatics at the same time?
is BTech in Bioinformatics same as Bsc in terms of jobs?
It was very motivating watching this video. ❤❤
heyyyy that was a wonderful video i had a query as i am going for my masters in bioinformatics soon so which laptop should i go for ?
Yeah, we would be interested in a bioinformatics course
thank you so much for the video! I'm starting university soon and my school offers bioinformatics as a minor. will definitely try it out after finding out so much about it from your video!!! 🩷🩷

You can study Bioinformatics at uni tho?
I am currently in Biochem but am thinking of switching to bioinf. only i'm not sure if i should finish my degree in biochem first or jump straight to the new one
Very interested in this field. Can I get into it after graduation by self studying? Any resources you'd recommend for learning?!
would it be a good idea to dual major in biology and cs?
Hi. Thank you for your video, it is really useful, as I am looking to apply to a bioinformatic PhD too. Do you think AI (Like ChatGPT) will help me in understanding the programming language? I used R previously in my academic history, but I don't have any knowledge on Python. I am asking cause I see a lo of people are concerned with it
Hi I’m currently a first year college student aiming for an associates in Bio Engineering but I’ve heard of Bioinformatics and the college I attend doesn’t have a major for it, except the colleges I hope to transfer to. My current college is est. to take 3 years for BE major but I thinking I take a bio major w some programming classes on the side skipping the physics and much more calculus classes needed. Do you believe this is better?
I’m currently doing my A levels right now and I take maths, chemistry, biology and statistics, my only doubt is that do I need to have computer science?
I’m a marine biologist. I have my BSC and MS in Marine Biology and a Grad Cert in Wildlife Forensics and Bioinformatics and I’m interested in doing this in marine biology. There just aren’t a lot of job offers. 😢
How can you get from undergrad to phd without doing a master? 😅
Well in us , you can
Great video, Thanks for making this one.
Have I good reasons to worry or not ?
thank you soo much for this information
Why does your BSc pics look familiar? Did you graduate from Essex?
Yes hehe!!!!
I wonder who the professor is, because I’m interested in getting into this field 😅
Does bioinformatics have scope in future..?
Thanks for your video but i have some questions , i have a bachelor degree in biotechnology can someone after MSC in bioinformatics can be a AI specialist or data scientist and how much bioinformatics specialist tasks in industry field
If we do bs in bioinformatics what projects should we do during our BS plz reply 🙏
Hi! I'm about to finish my undergraduate degree in chemical engineering. I was wondering if there's anything similar to bioinformatics in my field - something that combines chemical engineering and informatics. Thank you!
I would say drug design
cheminformatics! Not sure if it’s an actual job title but I’ve seen listings for chemical informatics internships. You could also look into molecular modeling
@@endii5784 thank you!!
I am gonna do my bachelors in bioinformatics i was confused was it worth it or not this video helped me alot
i need as much money as possible with this degree
hello can you do a boot camp on bioinformatics?
pls make a course
can you help or offer books about learning basic genetics
this is great video 👌👌💯💯
damn this really appearing on my recommended!
What do you need for a levels?
Really good video...the best thing about this video was that you gave so much information and there was no unnecessary background music...thank you very much for that... please DO NOT include background music in videos where you share vital knowledge as it only distracts viewers. Again Thank you very much for this video.
I would love to take a class that you created :)
I this is not related to this topic . But i hope my English teacher talks like you
Would love a course made by you.
I'm actually opening the video like "she's facing the camera and has talking points. Noooo!! I'm not gonna get the cute voice-overlap thing she doesnin her shorts!"
Please make course on it
I love your RP accent ❤
omg Ive never been told I have an RP accent🤣🤣are you also British?😂
Oh no I’m not, but I love your accent so much, it’s so classy 🫶🥹. Seems like you’re from London
@@NamLe-w9b most British people tell me I have an essex accent which is almost the opposite of RP😅 but haha thank you soooo much, it’s a love or hate I think!😂🩷
Hello there! I wanted to ask you a question.
Currently I'm doing my masters in bioinformatics and now i have a summer break of about 1 month. So I thought of building up my skills during this time. But I'm really confused of what to do. Some of my teachers are saying that R programming is very crucial and some are saying that knowing how to use Linux is also very important. So can you please guide me as to what can I do?
Btw your video really helped me alot! Thanks alot!✨
My advice would be to learn some basic command line and R! ‘Using Linux’ is an odd expression as Linux is an operating system which barely anyone uses, I think what they mean is getting familiar with using command line / terminal!
@@agenomicsphd Thanks alot for this advice! Really grateful ✨
Hey can I please know at which uni you're pursuing your masters?

i think all your viewers will be curious to know :
why you did not replaced by an india coder ?
- as i see you works 100% remotely
so what's the reason for your employee
to spend 2000% of his money on you
rather than 100% on some guy from Mumbai ?
It's deals with medical information, which is very sensitive data. It can't just be trusted with anyone to mess with

also she do NOT have access to raw data

Hello agephd pls an aspiring comp science student here pleas if you have a spare laptop that you ain’t using like it really just sitting there in your basement please I’ll be glad if you can give me so I can start learning how to code please it would really have a big impact on my life thank you
You had no master?
No! It’s allowed in some countries to skip straight to PhD!
