- Police announce arrests and identify the victim they say was tortured and murdered in a Wilkes-Barre home.
Luzerne County District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce announced Tuesday afternoon that the human remains found inside a home on Carlisle Street in south Wilkes-Barre are that of 38-year-old Nicole Cuevas.

@@Zegers1it's true. We all say how much we'd help, but I've needed help with no one to be there. No funds for helping where it's needed, etc. Those who do help get drained, they can't help everyone. More people need to give to places like community action for wherever it's needed by people.

As far as trusting people... I'm a high responder. I like to help people. There are actually more responders in the world than otherwise, but anymore one has to be so careful! My husband and I have an agreement that I am never to allow anyone in my car (I used to give rides to people if I thought they needed it or it was too cold to be walking, etc), and I am never to open the door for _anyone_ unless they are family/friends obviously.
Like many people, my natural inclination is to be helpful, and I have curbed that which is sad and disappointing. To ignore someone who needs something is never my first thought but unless it's a minor child or a vulnerable person, I cannot risk it.
I have a firearm as does my husband, (who also has a CCW), and I wish many more safe, sane and moral (thanks ASP and John!) people would carry as well. It would make things more safe.
It's just like the world has gone nuts and LE, who do their very best with the manpower they have and the budget they have, cannot always get to us in time so better safe than sorry, as the saying goes. It's a shame.
I hope they find the absolute _scum_ that did this to these two women, and may their memories always be a blessing to their families.

Shame is a cancer of the soul. If nothing else, I hope this convinces us all to reach out for help when we need it. The comments show that many would have willingly & readily helped Nicole with a resource of no consequence to many. It may take asking 100 people, but that 100th person is ready & willing.
Nicole endured untold horrors. There’s no happy ending, no tale of survival against the odds. Two lives snuffed out for nought.

Did you miss the part where he said they are all being charged with MURDER? 🙄 He didn't say manslaughter. Second degree murder, or anything else to suggest they weren't being charged with first degree murder. He clearly said MURDER.
His job is to find evidence for arrest. Appears confident enough to arrest on charges mentioned (for prosecution).
It would’ve been more satisfying to hear 1st degree murder but that’s not his call. The official charges will be made at arraignment via DA.
