      +Rocket Jump Ninja Hey Zy! I've come down to the choice of getting a k65 rgb. But, what cherry mx should i get? I've come down to cherry mx silent and reds.

    • @RocketJumpNinja

      +Levi Hammer Haven't tried a silent yet! You'll have to do some extra research. :)

    • @hasuchobogosu
      @hasuchobogosu 8 лет назад

      +Levi Hammer i have Corsair strafe Cherry MX Silent RGB , and i love it! it feels almost identical to reds, but with less sound. i gues you could even put o-rings on them and make them even more silent. the silent mx switxhes are made to be 30% more silent than reds with the same feeling, and i have to see they nailed it. My bed is aonly a few meters away from my PC and my gf usually dont have any problem sleeping or falling asleep because of my keyboard! for me it was a great buy, and it served its purpose, so would recommend to anyone. however dont expect them to be dead silent! they also still have the nice tactile feel.

    I like MX Clears, the Browns felt like Reds to me, bump was way too subtle. The Clears have a distinct bump that doesn't distract me while I play, and is easier to type with.

      +watsyurdeal Aren't clears just Reds with built in O-Rings?

    • @watsyurdeal
      @watsyurdeal 8 лет назад +1

      +DarkMerno no, they're tactile switches, reds are linear, meaning that there is a distinct bump when the key is actuated, 2 mm, 55 g of force. Reds are smooth with no bump or click for gaming, very nice, but not so much for typing. All o rings do is lower the sound of the key hitting down all the way. Clears are the boat of both worlds for me, not click like blues but still good for typing, and still smooth for gaming.

    I saw a video earlier where someone explained that the Cherry Green switches are the EXACT same switch as blue, but it uses the SPRING from Blacks. Making it the same switch, but slightly harder to press. In the video he made his own green combining the two as he didn't have any green for his examples.

    Trouble with these boards is they're too large, you have to compromise on mousepad space if you're using a low sensitivity. I use a Tecknet (blue switches) with no numpad or border, the tiny board means I can use more desk space to flick my mouse around.

  • @SadisticRS
    @SadisticRS 8 лет назад

    The razer green switches actually come in two different types. The older blackwidow keyboards use the kailh switches while the newer ones use greetech switches. The way the switches sound also depend on the acoustics of the keyboard, like the way the top panel is shaped. I know it sounds picky, but you can hear the difference between typing on the two different razer green switches and you can certainly hear the difference between the razer greens and cherry blues.

  • @ferongr
    @ferongr 8 лет назад +6

    Board acoustics are also very depended on construction quality and keycap material/thickness. Some boards tend to "ping" when pressing the keys due to vibrations transferred to the metal plate. And thicker keycaps will produce a more muffled, deeper sound. A note should be made on the non-standard layouts many of these gaming board have, resulting in difficulty finding replacement keycaps. This is a legitimate concern since a quality board will outlast the keycaps, that will start fading, very problematic on backlit boards that use transparent ABS with a layer of paint over it. Lastly a mention should be made about the fact that Kailh switches are not perfect clones of Cherry MXs and have a few problems with tolerances, broken stems and reliability. And boards with them are not exactly cheap either.

    • @ferongr
      @ferongr 8 лет назад +1

      +Sheldetin Many Filcos ping due to the metal plate and you see add-on metal plates being sold for them that try to stiffen the original one.

    i got the logitech G710+ resently, and im sticking with it. I actually chose this after trying out some others on its prize point like the blackwidow ultimate (the one with the green led only), the steelseries 6gv2 annd some others. I mainly chose it because of the Cherry mx browns, i prefer them overall. i play a lot of moba annd RPG games, so i didn't like the red or black switches because i missclicked a lot, and the green switches in the blackwidow felt ok, but if i had to chose between less force to actuate a key, agains more macros, better build quality and leds, i ended up buying the G710+. I recomend it to everyone. Note: it also comes with blue and red switches if you dont like browns like me

    Still like my bucking springs. I started with them with mechanical keyboards and I just love the feel of them. They're heavy but the actuation point just felt better. Shame they don't make 10 keyless with them. I do use cherry MX blues most of the time and eventually I'll move to browns as they'll be just a bit less of the click which drives some people nuts.

    I think the browns are the jack of all trades. They aren't to loud and don't require to much force and have a tactile bump. If you can handle the sound of the blues get them.

    Custom keyboard community member here.
    Many people think that cherry mx switches are the best switches. That's simply not true. I used to believe that but now that I tried Novelkeys Creams switches and gateron yellows I understand.
    IMO Cherry mx red switches are badly weighted. I like my switches not as stiff as the gateron blacks neither as light as a cherry mx red. My main keyboard uses gateron yellows and they are the best linear switch I have ever tried IMO.
    Let's get to the tactile switches on the cherry mx line: they are not tactile at all. For a really tactile experience someone should try zealios switches or Holy Pandas.
    The click on the cherry mx switches is hardly a click at all. For a more crispy click someone should try a clickbar switch, like a Kaihl box White (which I love).
    Nice video as always, but for once I don't agree with you. You should've included some of the switches that are only available to the keyboard community.

    So I typed on a razer chroma keyboard at a store and I LOVED the way it felt. I heard the mx blues are the most similar to the razer switches and I was thinking about going with brown since it's good for gaming and the typing feel that I liked on the razer one. Good choice or nah? Btw I was looking at the corsair strafe with the brown switches as my keyboard

    I am using a Cooler Master Quickfire TK Brown Switches. I fairly like the keyboard, but I don't use the nice white LED's on it when I am using it ever. I used to own the original Corsair Vengeance K70 with cherry mx red switches.

    Any sub-$60 TKL (tenkeyless) keyboard worth trying for a first-timer? MX Brown or equivalent, i.e. tacticle. Willing to explore linear but maybe not right now.

    I need something where F-keys are easy to access and not too far. I like my palm on the table at the same time fingers to be able to reach F-Keys easily. My hand is quite large 20cm/10cm based on the mouse measurements. I also prefer quiet.
    Any suggestions? Not looking to spend too much either, Mouse is more important for that.

    You say cherry mx are the top of the line but thats not really true. They're the top of the line for people who dont care about their keyboard that much. You can get enthusiast keyboard with other keys which are much nicer

    I've got to move to mechanical keyboards. I wear out Keytronic KT800U2 keyboards in a month. Surprising -- to me too. Their quality is sucking now, so I'm moving to a mechanical one. ANd, what you showed me about sound dampening is really helping. I don't think Cherry MX Red switches are for me -- little too loud, but getting a Cherry MX Brown and dampening it. I think that will help. Thank you for educating me ... This video was very useful ...

    You forgot ability to change kkeycaps. The Corsair CAN'T use most keycap sets, because the bottom row is non-standard (6.5u vs standard 6.25u) which mean almost nothing will fit on them.

    the razer blackwidow x chroma switches feel so much better aside to my 2014 blackwidow chromas... More tactile feedback, less scratchy, less variance between the actuation forces on the keys and they feel more "firm" and less wobbly... i think theyve changed their switches to greentech or something other than kailh?

    I'm a csgo player and I've been using a membrane replica type of board from asus which they have deleted from their site and abandoned on most cases. I want to feel better with the quality and it feels like these switches have so bad reaction time and I also need a wrist rest as my wrist is on air if i want to use wasd comfortably. Any recommendations lower than 110-120 dollars on US amazon? I've also been looking at the new razer ornata and it's cheaper than many others I've seen about razer yet looks to have the wrist rest im looking for and clicky and cool sounding mecha-membrane switches

  • @ithehappy1

    If you don't bottom out the Blues, will they still be that loud? If not, if I use them as touch-typing sort, could they be as silent as the Reds? I fucking want a silent one, yet I need the tactile feedback to a minimum extent and my fucking place has NO Browns.

    1. A computer store near me sell only mx brown crossair k95 but i prefer the red, what cna i do about it? I'm a wow player, is it for me? Are there version of the model sold with red?
    2. How the red feel compared to a regular none mechanical keyboard? I'm looking for the most quite and easiest to press (the least force required), is red the best option for me or are there proprietary keys that are easier to press and quieter?
    thanks.

    no reason to go mechanical if you're using reds with o-rings lol. Just get a membrane keyboard and save yourself the trouble and money. That's basically what you're using, anyway.

  • @pikkutemppa7896
    @pikkutemppa7896 7 лет назад

    I had o-rings on my mx brown k95. I had to take them off cause sometimes the key press didn't register or it got pressed twice. So if you type without fully tapping down the keys i don't suggest the o-rings.
