Psychedelics have the terrible side-effect of provoking schizophrenic or psychotic attacks on people who don't take them.

+Patrick Sturg I think you read his comment wrong. Re-read it again lol. It's actually pretty funny and a quote by someone. I can't remember who right now. May have been Timothy Leary.

+SWIM i think there was a Terrance Mckenna quote that went along the lines of "drugs cause psychotic behaviour in people who haven't taken them."
Also about that Alan watts quote about "hanging up the phone, once you get the message." is funny because someone actually interviews Denis Mckenna, and i remembered his response being like "Mushrooms are a teacher, you don't hang up the phone on your teacher."
Anyway man, you're really inspiring, Ive also had to deal with some height insecurity and i'm 5,9 ive got girls in the past so a lot of it is irrational.

Shroomies saved my life. I won't type out a novel unless someone wants to hear the story, but basically I was planning on killing myself. The day I was going to do it was about a week out. My friend called me up and said he had a hookup for mushrooms and wanted me to do it with him. He didn't know about my problems, no one did. But I said "Fuck it, I'll do some drugs, have fun and then off myself." Long story short as soon as the mushrooms hit it completely tore me apart, I instantly realized what I was doing wrong in life and what was causing my problems. After that day I have never had another suicidal thought in my life. I cannot believe that it has changed me in the way that it has, and I cannot believe these magical tools are illegal and you can be locked in a cage for the rest of your life for using them.

+OelOel I think if you prepare well and resepct Dose, Set und Setting and thin about your experience, you will get what you need. ( only expection: you have a hidden psychosis) My first psychedelic experience was a horrortrip, whit all the things you mentioned together with terrible visiuals, but it changed my life for ever in a positiv way.

+Andrew Nguyen Alright, I'll try my best, I'm kind of short on time. I was 14, I'd had a lot of family problems, mainly revolving around oxy and xanax addiction. I saw my dad have a seizure when I was too young to even understand what was happening. (xanax withdrawals). Around this time I turned to smoking weed. It started out as a fun thing. Something I would do with my friends from time to time on the weekends. You might hear people say its non addictive, and I do believe that, but at the same time I got completely hooked. Freshman year I would smoke 6 times a day while going to school. I blazed about an eighth every 2 days. It got to the point where money no longer had value to me, any time I got money, all I could think of was how much bud I could get with it. I had past depression/anxiety problems, and was put on SSRI's from the age of 6 to 13, when I decided to stop taking them, because I had zero feelings at all anymore. Well, I started using weed to mask my problems. Anytime I wasn't high I was sad, and anytime I was high I didn't care. The typical stoner shit that gives weed a bad name. After a while of this, around 2.5 years, the depression came back worse than ever. I was always a good student in school, and was taking a few AP classes, this put an enormous work loud on me, I dreaded having bad grades, so I would stay home from school to finish school work, go in the next day and be loaded down with twice as much. I was somehow able to keep my grades up even though I was constantly high. Now at my highschool you are only allowed to miss 10 days. When I missed about 8, I started to get fake doctors notes, thinking they would save me and I could keep missing school. Well, the notes passed as real, but the rule was a no tolerance rule, which means it didn't matter. I had already missed 10 days, and I was kicked out of school. This is where the depression started kicking my ass. I had all day to do nothing besides smoke weed and feel sorry for myself. It was a vicious cycle, and as my tolerance to the drug built so did my depression. I was kicked out of school in December, and I made it until the beginning of summer before I couldn't handle it and started to become suicidal. I told my parents, and agreed to go into an inpatient facility. Bad idea. That really fucked with my head, the last thing you need when you are depressed and wanting to die, is to be surrounded by other people feeling the same way. They loaded me up with drugs I can't pronounce for the next week or so before sending me home. In treatment, you can't refuse drugs, if you do they will hold you don't and shoot them into you. But at home I could, so with a lowered tolerance from not smoking I turned back to good ole mary to solve my problems. And it didn't work at all. Now the depression was made worse by the introspective aspects of the weed. After fighting it and fighting it I'd finally had enough. I got a journal and wrote about 50 pages. My suicide note. I wanted to do it right, I wrote to everyone I knew or was friends with. I held onto this note for about 2 weeks, reading it multiple times a day and correcting every little thing I could think of. Once I was happy with it I set myself a date. 6 days out, my lucky number. I was spending time with family one night at my little cousins football game where I got a call from an old friend. He didn't know of my problems, no one did. But he knew a guy who had just came back from Australia with some mushrooms. And he wanted me to take them with him. I said no and promptly hung up. Later that night, I got the thought of "Why not just do a bunch of drugs before I die? It's not going to hurt anything, I'll be dead anyways." So I called him and told him to come over. Now this guy was like a big brother to me growing up, I'm an only child, and as I previously mentioned my dad was always barred out. I looked up to this guy. So he came through with the shrooms. I had no idea how much he had, but it was enough to fill a grape white owl blunt wrap package to the top. So probably an eighth or more. He wanted to split them, but I insisted on eating the full thing, he left to get more mushies and I waited just looking at this fungus that would forever change my life. He got back and we ate those bitches. I'd never done any other drug besides weed before, and I'd never read up on them. As far as I was concerned in an hour I'd be riding a unicorn. Boy was I wrong. He had never taken mushrooms, but he had done a lot of LSD so he knew the experience of tripping. On the come up I was happier than I'd ever been. He talked to me about life, and how everything was beautiful. How there are no real worries and it's only an illusion, how the universe loves you. As I was peaking I was no longer in reality. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I can now relate it to similar to a non-breakthrough experience on n,n-DMT. Very very hard visuals, fractals everywhere, OBE's, ego death. All of it. This shook me up very bad. I don't know how I didn't break down crying but somehow I kept it together on the outside, but not on the inside. I was mindfucked, all my problems no longer mattered. I realized I was abusing the weed to cover up for things I didn't want to deal with. The sun was coming up and he had to be home, so he left. (walking, he lived down the street). Once he got home he called me, reassured me that the universe loved me, and told me to go lay down, because I was "still tripping sack" and if my parents got up they'd notice. I did as I was told and woke up the next day. I didn't move from bed besides to smoke a small amount of weed, simply out of habit, not because I wanted to. The day I was planning on killing myself was coming up, but for some reason I didn't feel the same about it. I threw away my notebook, because I knew without it I could never bring myself to actually do it. Over the next week the feeling went completely away, and the depression mostly subsided. I kept my weed habit for another 2 years, but I no longer smoke at all due to anxiety I get on it. I've done many psychedelics since then, and have used them to figure out virtually every problem in my life. Even though DMT gave me more questions than answers. I have introduced over 25 people to LSD or mushrooms. I used to have a place in the woods I would take people to trip, and help them figure stuff out. 6 people later told me that experience kept them from killing themselves. I have been clean off all drugs since Halloween of last year. I don't know if I'll ever do them again, I feel like that have had their place in my life. I am, and will always be, a huge advocate for the medical applications of psychedelics.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, if you have any questions, feel free to ask and I'll get back to you.

I'm 16 years old and been through a lot of shit, had abusive parents & depression ever since I can remember and a few years ago even developed anorexia/bulimia. I had just always had a negative outlook on life. last year I did acid for the first time and it changed my whole perspective, I started getting into philosophy and science and fell in love with life instead of boys and material possessions. I started actually caring for myself and the world around me. The negative aspect of this is I just completely lost all of my friends, and popularity, because I saw that they were having a negative impact on my mental health because they weren't mentally well themselves, so afraid of change. I've been feeling super down in the dumps lately because I feel as though people are missing out on the beauty of life and I don't have anyone to discuss it with, and I just have this feeling that the world could be so much better if drugs were decriminalized and people started taking them to treat their anxiety and depression just as I did, so they can finally understand the grand connectedness of this existence. So thank you for making this video and giving me some hope for humanity, and making me feel a little less alone

I personally believe that psychedelics are the only cure for humanity, because there's so much unseen beauty in psychedelics, not only when tripping, but how much better and happier your sober life can become. There's so much emphasis in society on absolutely petty shit and im so glad that i was able to identify true happiness at such an early age of 18, (still 18) i was never sad, but i was never really happy, but psychedelics have showed me and many how wonderful life is when you don't care about how others think of you, yet still care about other people. And thank you, thank you, thank you, PsychedSubstance because you hit the head of the nail on psychedelics, the dangers, the caution, and the amazing effects when approached responsibly, you are the best teacher on the internet for anybody curious in psychedelics. Thank You for making the world a better place and i hope all of humanity tries psychedelics and cures their ego.

I'm 17 right now and I came to the exact same realization as you after an LSD trip. I used to try to get all the "in" clothes, gadgets, and other stuff people around me had. I would watch what everyone else was watching just to know what people were talking about and be on the inside, that was mostly middle school and some of freshman year, it very slowly faded when I started smoking weed middle of that year but not totally. Then when I was 16 I stated my psychedelic experiences with LSD.
(I've only done LSD, mushrooms a few, and weed, all I ever will do.)
The trip that made me realize that social pressures are not worth worrying about was when I was with my friend Paul and we tripped in a quiet neighborhood on the edge of some woods, during the whole trip I never felt such happiness from the disconnection of the world and just being me with out caring about what others thought. I was amused with the smallest things, we went to a store and got some bottled water and every drink pf water felt like another sip of joy. It was a phenomenal trip.
That trip and the time I took reflecting on it afterwards is what made me see that you don't need a mask or to blend in with what society is doing. You can be yourself, go against society, do your own thing, and still be truly happy. It doesn't matter what other people think.
I guess I could've cut the story out and said that true happiness is what you want and like to experience, not what others think you should experience and want. But I like to remind myself of why I am who I am and what that true joy feels like.
I'm glad I came to this point at a young age like you did or else I could've spent a big chunk of my life going with the current instead of being the river myself.

TRUE, the key to psychedelics is to respect them and take them occasionally, for spiritual work. As you said, they teach you how to be a better human being while being sober. Keep growing and learning, we got this.

I relate a lot with you man, I'm 5'5" too so I FULLY understand the effects that can have on a male in western society where we're sort of looked at as a joke compared to guys and girls who are taller than us, not sure if I'll go bald early, that's still a waiting game but we'll have to see. But again, I understand where you're coming from especially with being called an "old soul" because another similarity I have with you is that I've been called an "old soul" all of my life. Psychedelics and a certain disassociative (that I no longer take as it can be very harmful) have been helping me find answers and peace within myself, and I have to say your channels have been a helping hand throughout my journey of finding myself, and healing the wounds that I myself and others have punched into me. You're doing something beautiful.

I took 500MG of LSD and learned that the government isn't our friend. Then i lived my whole life in one minute, i was writing the thoughts that i was thinking every time a wave would end. It was getting to intense so i stopped writing. i wasn't able to talk anymore, walk, and a few moments i forgot how to breathe.
The only time I've forgotten how to breathe was when i ate 7 grams of dry mushrooms. (Don't think i stopped breathing) the mushrooms made me think i wasn't a regular person. My mind thought i was handicap, and i was crying because i felt so sorry for handicap people. When i was able to move and walk around i couldn't function, couldn't open doors because my arms was long and the room was small. LOL
Before i got into psychedelics, i was a heavy smoker never stopped again and I'm more emotional towards the earth and people who have it hard. It's like my soul has gotten closer to the spirit world.
It's about time for another trip because I'm feeling my depression and anxiety coming back. Thinking about a San Pedro trip i read about it having good affects on my illnesses. If anyone wants to give me advice on things feel free. peace and love your way man.

I honour your honesty... similarly psychedelics changed my life but i got really scared of them because of the "bad trip" It was a huge lesson. I learned a lot and it taught me about how to love myself and stop putting myself into risk. It makes loads of sense what you say and I relate to it a lot. It seems like I never wanted to repeat acid within the ludic environment but never did it again on my own neither. I'm two days off from trying 5 meo dmt for first time... I know this will change everything forever... it's gonna be a challenge... I'm gonna face my fears but this time i know at least what psychedelics are and how can they change awareness. I'm afraid of the unpleasant part but it's needed to blindfold off my mind again... keep going with the channel, I'm so happy to have found you. "awaken" ones are not alone but lonely sometimes... :)

I dont know why but watching your videos gives me a feeling i cant really explain... it.. grounds me and remembers me of what life is about. I've always been a happy and spiritual human but i lost track of this at some points of my life. I think this is what you try to give people with your videos. Giving them back what society took. Showing them that you as a person aren't the clothes you wear or the car you drive, but the things you do and how you treat your surroundings. Thank you, Adam!

I always question whether or not I'm just obsessive or crazy... living around a lot of religious family members and friends has me in a tough spot, I haven't had access to psychedelics for well over a year and to constantly be telling people they will change their life for the better sounds hypocritical at times because it's getting hard to remember my experiences in 1st person; but your videos have helped me keep hold of my sanity in times like these, to know someone else out there has a mind like mine, and that I'm not alone in this really helps a lot, keep up the awesome work man, and know you're helping a lot of people with the message you spread!

“Now according to the Secret Teachings, what must be understood, seen, felt, is that there does not exist any current which is MY mind, and therefore it follows that there is not a plurality of currents which are the minds of other individuals, but only a single current which is Kunji namparshespa; the sum of all mental activity at work without any cognizable beginning. It is in this totality that what we call our mind is immersed, our mind which we try so hard to separate and define. Furthermore, this effort is useless. Whether we are aware of it or not, the thoughts, the desires, the needs which we feel for life, our thirst for it - nothing of all this is completely ours, for all of it is collective. It is the flowing river of incalculable moments of consciousness having its source in the impenetrable depths of eternity.”
    - The Secret Oral Teachings in Tibetan Buddhist Sects.

I love Alan Watts and even had the same thoughts about his drinking habits haha. He mentioned in one seminar that if a guru or enlightened being has no vice at all, they would disappear because there would be nothing that holds them to this realm. It's ironic that one of the best philosophers of all time drank himself to death, he would probably find it hilarious if he had an opportunity to look back at his life haha.

Hi, I'm turning 17 this next month, and let me just say I am exactly like what you're describing about yourself when you were a lad. I was so super sensitive about everything ,and I was loving ,and I cared about everyone, I thought the world was a wonderful place, and I tried to fix every problem for everyone. All throughout school I've suffered from anxiety, depression, and all these terrible things because I allowed people to take advantage of me. Being innocent and loving didn't get me anywhere but the dump. Looking at myself now I am just wondering why the hell I am even here, like whats my purpose. I've tried self medicating with weed and it calms me down before I get a panic attack, or just whenever I've let stress take control of me it's the best feeling is letting go of all that bullshit that's got me down, However for whatever reason I'm just always being bombarded with terrible things going on in my life for the past 3 years or so it's just kind of been a downward spiral of what I used to be and I'm looking to regain some of my old qualities through the use of psychedelics. I'm interested in just having a more positive outlook on life and I want to have my old happy qualities that I had and it's just been a nightmare for a long while now it feels....
Ps. I love your videos keep up the great work with educating everyone, I've learned alot from you!

Exactly. We are human beings with depth beyond our own comprehension. We can spend a lifetime exploring someone's personality, and still never know who they truly are.
We are born as individuals that have the potential to outgrow any form of social label.
Society is what feels the need to label people,
But in nature there is no place holder. There is life, in which you become and experience whatever you want.
And there is death, in which you let go and explore the beyond

Spring cleaning for the psyche. A freshly peeled brain makes for a better understanding and expression of self. I agree with your dismissal of the "hang up the phone" concept; people don't stop learning about a topic after finding one resource, they continue to investigate. Support groups for post-trip integration sounds like a million dollar idea! Our group would go to a local breakfast diner and discuss the previous evening's happenings. The additional benefit of not having to split focus by cooking was priceless!

They've taught me how to love myself and see myself from a more accepting light. I wish I could just tell everyone that's suicidal or depressed or going through personal trauma that there is a light at the end of the tunnel if you just try psychedelic's but its unfortunately not that simple.

MDMA has definitely helped me out in my personal life. As someone who has been depressed for years and had no love for others MDMA takes a huge 360 on the kind of perspective. It was amazing how you love everyone and everything and that we're all connected. Even more so you love yourself as a whole and that everything is perfect the way things are no matter where you are in life. The force of love that I've experienced taking MDMA will stick with me and is an amazing lesson to love others and oneself

Yea same. Kind of surprising to me. But I like how Adam pointed out that he's also human just like us, not some perfect being who figured everything out about existence.

+Mark Andary we're also searching... you have to experience yourself otherwise you cant learn from it... Well you can, but most people are naive to help, to suggestions of not drinking that much for example, they might listen, but not do anything with it...
We're all in search for balance, to find our inner self. feel instead of think :)

2 minutes into the video and the main thing that has surprised me is... YOU ARE 30?? You look like 24 max. :)

+FrostedJr Thanks man! Apparently psychedelics have a second little known benefit - they halt the aging process :P

I'm a short guy too and I used to have terrible insecurities about it, especially when it came to dating. Congrats on conquering that!
