He died an Anglian and never wanted to split from the Church of England. It was his followers that formed the Methodist church from what I know. A true Methodist revival is needed not changing words and becoming more like the world.
I was raised Methodist and believe John and Charles knew what they were doing because they were doing it for King and country AND for souls. It saved Britain from the French revolutionary movement and gave the poor a church where their emotions could be expressed in music and prayer without formalism. As he got older John was able to see already the ludicrous side...often complaining about "believers" who hated the gold in Catholic churches but worshiped the gold in the banks. Dan my wife and I were Methodist Local Preachers, about 10 years ago God made it clear we were to move many miles away from the Church circuit we were in. It was also clear we were to start something new. On our first Sunday in our new home we went to the local Methodist Church just around the corner. We were not well welcomed, indeed as a mixed race couple the assumption was that we had just moved in to the local Housing Estate! If our previous minister had passed on our details to the local Methodist Superintendent then that minister failed to make any contact despite living only about half a mile from us. We took this as God's final word to get out, having been concerned about the general direction of travel of the Methodist Church for some time social gospel, ecological gospel, inclusiveness without change of behaviour etc. Over the past few years we have watched with great sadness as the church adopted same sex marriage, non-heterosexual ministers and now this. The church has abandoned the gospel on which it was founded.
It's not just Methodist churches. A Baptist Church in the city I grew up in has bragged recently on social media about their new inclusive constitution! The most offensive part is the following: "Our welcoming of everyone includes those who may struggle with our commitment to offering full participation to all, and calls each of us to graciously live together in the community of Christ regardless of our differences." Jog on heretics! "Full participation" of unrepentant "Christians" IS a false gospel of works! That means reformed, Bible believing Christians who believe in discipleship and church discipline are tolerated but not accepted as prophets/preachers of the Gospel truth. The process of sanctification is held in contempt in such places! Do not go to these dens of iniquity, so brush the dust from your feet when you leave!
The Methodist Church of Great Britain is declining fast. It would be a blessing if it was put out of its misery. I come from generations of faithful Methodists. Gradually, they left for more robust churches until I was the last one. After years of this woke nonsense and heretical ministers, I've left as well. I feel sorry for the Methodist faithful who remain unfed in such a woke social club.
Theyve been drifting away for a while but this is both heartbreaking and bewildering. I made the most of my single years and I take my calling as wife and mother very seriously. its ridiculous. It is of course polite when greeting a married man to enquire about his "wife " and her health - he would be offended i believe if one refers to asking him about his partner !
Ironically, as this unbiblical ideology has become ever more prevalent in British Methodism, more and more faithful followers of Jesus have excluded themselves from this ecclesial institution. When I was ordained in 1987, there were more than 400,00 members in it; down to almost a quarter now and shrinking ever faster! God is one of those who have left.

Its directives are often heavy handed, complicated and simply create problems that previously did not exist. I think you miss the point at 10:30. Not everyone who looks after a child is their parent. To address a letter, for example to "Dear Parent..." might well miss the mark. Assuming someone's partner is their husband or wife might cause uneccesary offence or embarassment. Being careful in our use of language and aware of the wide variety of human relationships is just common curtesy and Christian sensitivity. The world is changing and we need to be awake (the origin of woke) to that.
As a Born Again Methodist, you have to trust in the Faith of individual believers on these matters. Not everyone sees these issues in the same light, but the Holy Spirit guides us ALL. As to the Gospels being "offensive" I've heard such claims in Non-Denominational churches...perhaps a relic of the "Catholic Era"? Jesus' Death on the cross IS our "saving grace"...there's absolutely nothing offensive about that, except to materialists and egotists who are "better than God". As for "woke" language, does not the Holy Spirit "awaken" us to a higher state of understanding? You can deny the Holy Spirit all you like, but that "force" still connects us straight to the One True God (YHWH, name above all names

Whatever differences in opinions about gender and sexuality Christians have, first and foremost I believe that we need to return to our roots and founder - Jesus Christ. Many ministers don’t truly believe in Jesus. Back to our foundations please.
Sadly people and MANY CHURCHES AND CHURCH LEADERS in their mistaken effort to be people pleasers and "politically correct" choose to ignore hard parts of the BIBLE such as sin(now personal choice) and Romans 12:2-3 " BE NOT CONFORMED TO THE STANDARDS OF THIS WORLD BUT BE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND." As Christians we are called TO BE DIFFERENT and thereby show the world an alternative and God- lead life. @@Irunwithscissors63 I think he did a video with a slightly click-bate title about leaving the church of england, where he says he's not leaving now but think it likely he will have to in the future if it continues in the direction it's going.

If god was real there would be no need for any church.
Church gets more woke=Church starts doing better at following Jesus. The gospel is offensive to Pharisees. Maybe, if you have honest conversations with yourself, you’ll find yourselves following Jesus, too. Maybe the “woke” people have it right. Maybe you’re the one who needs to do the changing!
Atrocious
I fail to see how your complaints relate to critical race theory.
This channel is to the church what the Daily Mail is to journalism. 🙄
So why are you here then? Enjoy trolling? FFS you have left 31 comments on this channel. Not just a troll but a jerk of one. You know this is a conservative channel but yet you keep coming back to spew your heretically inspired comments. Proverbs 26:11-12 ERV
Like a dog that returns to its vomit, a fool does the same foolish things again and again. People who think they are wise when they are not are worse than fools.
@@johnhudghton3535 How Christian of you, John. Even a Bible verse to support your point of view, but I'd expect nothing less of a retired vicar.
This channel didn't used to be quite so conservative. There used to be some interesting videos on life as a vicar and thoughtful interviews. There's even a video of Dan attending a climate change rally - how times have changed.
@@andrewlowe5102 just listen to your own hypocricy. What you have said about others you would like to see out of the C of E and yet you can't take it when someone calls you out. Well done for looking me up Mr Stalker. Would I guess right that you might be a Methodist minister perhaps? Oh and Jesus was happy to be quite direct to his critics so don't try to pull that faux politeness on me.
@@johnhudghton3535 It doesn't bother me, but it's surprising when it comes from the clergy. I suppose you aren't really any better than the rest of us, however much you like to pretend to be all smiles when pushing the CofE brand.
Still, at least you had the decency to leave the CofE and spread your poison where it's more welcome.
Rev Dan does over-sensationalise some parts of the document in the first half of the video, and does ignore some very good sections. A bit of balance and nuance wouldn't go amiss. However, there are some very bad parts in this document, and some of the sources referenced are also of concern, as correctly highlighted later in the video.
Thanks Rev Dan for yet another lurid, entertaining and highly subjective rant which I'm sure gets you lots of views and likes here on YT. EDI training is now mandatory and as a Methodist member I have to do it shortly and will reserve judgement until I have. It does seem that you are not just content with dissing your own Anglican community but have decided to turn your attention to mine. Would be nice if some day you actually said something positive...
If god was real you wouldn't need a church.
oh change the record Dan. Do you ever talk about anything else? This is not preaching the gospel being so judgemental? What would wesley say about you ? hmmmm
Welsey would eject them - as indeed he did to many. The gospel requires us to point out when people are straying from God's ways.
@@michaelicornelius What do you mean by "god's ways?" How do you know that you're not blind and they can see? Do you want your leaders blind or sighted? Jesus said blessed are those who are blind but still believe...but those are the sheep, not the shephards.
Rev Dan, it's Queer Theory too.
