Epic collaboration ! Now lets get Trent in a Kodiak!
Same thought on the Kodiak❗️
It's cool that you have an instructor in another plane that coaches you through a manuver.
Remembering doing much of this, but with a 180# instructor in a 65 hp J3 in the front seat. When he would get out, the fun began.
[Recalling his first lesson quote, "This is a powered kite. You have to fly it from untying it to tying it back down. I'll hold the brakes; you prop start it..."
....
I well remember him teaching me to do a loop. After reducing that to practice, he says "Now let's see what happens when the worst thing happens and we stall out on top."
And thus we both learned that it's a necessary idea to sweep out the Cub's floor before this demo. We had a dust and sandstorm in the cockpit, inverted, on top, in spin entry. [Explitives not included]
Small world. A highly experienced Missionary Bush Pilot in the Papua New Guinean theatre, flying alongside one of youtube's Bush Pilot icons.
When I subscribed to both Channels, separately, years back, never knew you 2 would eventually meet up👍🏾.
I seriously love this content! It almost feels like a rediscovery of the passion for flying. There’s so much of the US to explore and so many trips you can take with friends/family that the content is unending. Can’t wait to see each moment!
This is like watching Maverick teach his students🤩 🔝🔫✈
Trent is such a gifted teacher. Kudos!
Never in a million years did I ever think you would be here in my backyard flying with Trent lol great job
Wonderful seeing the two of you flying together. You could each teach one another so much with your respective expertise. I bet if you found a Kodiak to go fly with Trent the video just might pay for itself 😛
So cool to see you out there with Trent! As your “kitfox presence” builds I cannot wait to see what mods, and hopefully partnerships, you are able to pull off - to make your airframe recognizably your own!
That would be pretty cool
Great video, Trent is a natural teacher. Rolling one wheel like that looked super difficult with the potential of wing hitting the ground, combined with yaw effect. Amazing how skilled you guys are.
Cool! Just goes to show you, no matter one's experience or qualifications, there's always more to learn.
Badass hearing Adrian over the comms!
Trents calm instruction is great..what fun to have a flying buddy to help you wit all those little idiosycrosies
Love how supportive this community is - Can we replicate Trent a lot please.
Ha ... never knew specific handling technique and energy management training was so large in Trents skillsets ... I mean I knew he could do it all but didn't know he was such a great teacher
Ryan, I’ve been watching you grow for years since you started posting your PNG flights and while I really do miss your PNG flights, it’s really nice to watch you grow so quickly stateside with your new kitfox. Very few other kitfox RUclipsrs have the experience you do and it’s cool to see you apply that skill set to this platform. Great job, keep up the good work! Will you ever be returning to PNG?
It’s been super fun watching a person who you’ve seen at their most expert best be humbled by a new plane. Makes for very interesting material.
We think we are returning, but still not 100% decided
Well done mate!
Dang it... Thanks Ryan. Now I have to get my tail wheel and follow roads... How exciting
trent what a legend, so cool to see you guys fly together
Awesome to see you two flying together, sharing tips, etc.
Wow, that flying at the end must have been fun
OMG! I follow you both separately but to see you both working together! Epic!!!!
two of my favorites, good to see ya connect.
Hello from Minnesota!! Wow, what great coaching and training from Trent!! Priceless!! Your such and experienced pilot you picked up everything he coached you on so quickly! Great job!
A very enjoyable video. Learned a lot, even after many years of flying. Excellent instruction with smooth video transitions and choreography.
The minute you showed your kitfox, I thought of Trent - I have been watching you both - everyone worried about Trent getting you in a jam - I'm watching for Trent to end up a missionary pilot - grin (are you reading this Trent? LoL)
Now THAT is the whole reason the have an airplane!! Bush flying is best when you do it for GRINS!! Not when it is you JOB!! LOL Looks like you are really getting into this now Ryan. You are learning from a master. I really envy you. Fly safe, fly long.
LEGENDS TOGETHER !!
I always love to see youtubers get together in videos like this!
I'd love to hear more about the differences between this type of flying and flying in PNG (you touched on it towards the end).
How did flying in PNG prepare you for this, and conversely, what sorts of things did you do in PNG that might be "bad" habits where you're flying now?
Likes here indeed TY both!
Wow, that was wonderful. Been waiting for this to happen. Have been subscribed to both you and Trent for some time now. GREAT STUFF.
Flying high with elation watching you two soar high into a Sierra adventure with your experimental planes. Your joy and professional level flying reminds me of the H.Thourearu quotation from Walden Pond, "children that play in life discern life's true meaning." Treetop fliers across the country salute you for your video presentations.
Great collab, learning from the 'master' of kitfox and off airport landings!!
It is cool that Trent would take the time to help you. Good job!
Trent is a great guy to teach you most if not all of the little tricks that not only make it safe, but fun.
Nice to see even with all the PNG flying, a slightly nervous and excited Ryan.
When you said you were buying a Kitfox, I hoped that you would meet up with Trent! Great to see you guys flying together!
So glad you guys hooked up. Trent is a good pilot.
I didn't know Trent and Ryan were gay?
Such a great video. Trent has done a good job giving you insight into how your plane flies. I am sure you would the same in the one you fly for work. Thanks for sharing.
WOW thank you very for making this video
I just bought a plane that is very simular to the Kitfox, and I just learned a lot from watching this
Thanks to you and Trent
Awesome
This is what the aviation world needs!
cool cool this advice aka lessons might help me in the sim with these little aircraft
THANK YOU Ryan and Trent for this collaboration. I'm smiling like crazy watching every minute of this! This is so fun--the flying, and the student/mentor conversation. More of this, please! :)
Great video. Really appreciate the education provided. The best 'collaborative' video I've seen.
Ryan
It is a very happy time watching you so happy
Thank you for sharing your adventures 😊
My best wishes to you always from Las Vegas Craig
This video is pure fun no rating required
Please share
this video everyone
Bravo 👏🏻 Ryan
Awesome! It's good to see your "stock" Kitfox holding up so well
This is so amazing! I'm glad you were able to fly with Trent!!
yeah it was fun!
Well all your flying skills got a workout, but the last few minutes just following the road were just epitome of the joy of flying.
Wow! What a great collab. I'm sub'd to both of you guys and have been watching for 2+ years. You are both accomplished pilots who I have a lot of respect for. I'm retired from flying now with 6000+ hours divided between scud running in the Northeast as a charter pilot and FL450 flying jets. After it all, I would love to land a bush plane on a lake bed. Thanks for sharing this Ryan. I really look forward to watching what you do with the Kitfox. Trent, you're a great instructor. You noticed what needed to be addressed right away, and you addressed it. Awesome job!
Trent is a great teacher as is Kevin Quinn. Great that he spent some time with you. Loving the vids Ryan.
Very cool that you did an episode with Trent. Two of my favourite aviation RUclipsrs. Congrats on the new airplane.
Great bit of flying! Trent really knows his stuff. Your flying ability is impressive, you pick up the new stuff so quickly. Thanks for sharing.
Nice paint job on Trent’s plane. Time for a repaint with something more exciting Ryan!!!
....and BAM!!! one on one instruction by one of the masters of the genre !!!!
Thanks Ryan from a mortal stuck on the ground, it's nice to come along with you and have some fun and learn at the same time, great scenery as well.
Regards Richard 🇬🇧
ahhhh i love your channel. thanks for all you do! I hope one day i will have a kitfox and can do all this!
Very cool, is nice to see guys together having fun, Trent Palmer is a cool guy, O have been following him for years
I like your channel so far.Vanity music 😵 I'm hanging in there.
That was brilliant Ryan well done..
It is such a great reminder of something that I had completely forgotten. In the 80's I used to fly my Arrow III down to Cabo from San Diego and once in the dessert would drop to around 100' AGL and follow the roads for hours - what a gas. It was absolutely spectacular and we would pop up to 1000' AGL approach terrain to look for others flying in the opposite direction. Fun watching your skill set improve so rapidly and thanks for the memories (apologies to Bob Hope).
Great seeing you flying with Trent!! Can see you knowledge base picking up quickly, with the new moves in new areas!! Your Kodiak could live well out in that back land!! Looking good, skimming the terrane!!
I’m a non-pilot. That said, I can see why you enjoy this type of flying. That looks fun as hell!
I’m really glad you and Yrent did this for “us”
Great to see you with Trent pointers...Great flying...
Just epic. Thank you (and Trent 🙂)
now THAT looks like you had a whole lot of fun. Always a great feeling when you start to figure out a proficiency in a skill.
This answered so many questions. Incredible! Thanks guys!
Wow, that was awesome! So fun to watch you guys.
Very good Ryan, looks like a lotta fun…
You’ll be as comfortable in that as the Kodak in no time. Good job!
Wow, no birds!
It seems everywhere here in NZ, when we fly low, birds are popping up at us like AA fire!
We can't ever relax below 500ft
Lucky you !
Absolutely awesome video with the Legendary and Highly Experienced Kitfox Trent Palmer Aviator! Take it slow one minute at a time and be safe Ryan.
Wow looks like a dream! Keep up the great content
Awesome! Everything is awesome!
What a cracker video! I really enjoyed it!
That second landing was on point! Nice angle.
Boiz and their toiz -- great video! 💯
Now that's flying.
I love your videos, I tried this style in MSFS with Zlin Ultra Shock that has also slats and OMG flaps on axis for making this fun, it is really working and I am able to land and stop under 1 meter now! Thank you for your awesome videos. You are living life that i was dreaming whole life and sadly can't but luckily MSFS came and since kodiak addon i was flying like you, now these little toys, I am looking forward what will be next!!! Stay safe, fly "low and slow" :D
Awesome flying and nice video footage.
Dean here. Great video Ryan with you and Trent. Someday I will meet Trent as we both live here in Reno area. Maybe even you also. I did not hear of the STOL event until it was over. Gob Bless and take care.
Great Vid. Often the master relearns some tricks as you have to go thru the motions of teaching another.
This is so cool. My respect on how you work together. Thanks!
That was LIT!
Awesome collab! Really digging your videos lately!
Glad you enjoy it!
truly one of your best videos man!!! your a dam rockstar
Excellent!!! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Flying the Kodiac after this would be mind blowing!
Yeah, get these guys in the Kodiac and show them a plane with some balls!
Amazing video! We've been waiting for it for so long, that hardly anyone has missed it. Excellent collaboration and dream flying. Many thanks, Ryan! Hoping for more of this kind.
Fan-frickin-tastic video Ryan! It's my dream to fly with you and Trent! One day soon I hope. Gotta find away to get permissions to fly my Canadian Ultralight down there for some fun
WOW love it.
2 of my favorite bush pilots!
Dude! I am so pumped for you! What a great experience! Loved watching you learn in this video. Especially that dump the flaps on touchdown trick ... game changer! Thanks, Trent! You just changed Ryan's Kitfox videos 😁
Excellent stuff! That looks like so much fun.
This is so awesome guys, I have literally waited a couple years for this meet up! So glad you guys made it happen and cant wait to see more in the future!
That was awesome
Awesome video
Many thanks Ryan for the great upload
Glad you enjoyed it
This is the video I've been waiting for since you moved back to the states and started looking for a bush plane! Awesome stuff! End end put a huge smile on my face on what was a rough day. Thanks!
Loved it! Chasing each other around the desert looked really fun!
