i agree, bro's making mountain out of a mole hill here, he emphasizes on spending more but then at the end you are buying something which you will use. If i'm adding something to save delivery fee , I won't be adding things i don't use for example a crate of eggs even tho I am vegetarian. this small cart fee, delivery fee is to avoid making a giant corporation to work in harmony to delivery 40 rs tomato to a customer.
Thats why I do this in quick commerece platforms 1. Order only when a lot of things are about to be restocked, to avoid small cart fee and reduce the delivery charge. 2. Don't go for subscription as my order frequency is very low. 3. Check the price breakdown before paying. 4. Compare prices per g/ml/unit.
Well that's true in some stores because 20% of Rs100 is far less than 20% of Rs10000. Percentage of discount remains same but cash in hand is more( figurewise).
In case of credit cards it is quite true if one uses the card wisely. I have had numerous benefits with lounges, flight tickets upgrade, hotels and cashbacks. But credit card is a tricky thing if does not where to stop :D
Yes donation is pre added to the bill. You have to uncheck to remove it, so if do not notice you simply end up paying a donation which you even don't know about.
I tried buying idly and the price chomato app showed was 175rs. I directly went to the restaurant and got the same for 35 rs. I simply uninstalled the app. That's what you do. That's what sensible people do. If any day I feel sick to go out, I simply install, order it and uninstall back.
If your total order value is below Rs. 200, then you will have to pay delivery charge extra... Example.. 1 chapatti costs Rs. 15... So, if I order 4 chapatis, I will have to pay Rs. 60 + delivery fee + no discount= Rs.160.. That is I pay Rs. 40 per chapatti. Now, if I order above Rs. 200.. I order 14 chapattis. Total order value is Rs. 210. So, I got free delivery and Rs. 80 restaurant discount also.. So, now I have to pay only Rs. 175 for 14 chapattis or only Rs.13 per chapatti..
There is one more pattern which I observed. During major sale like Great Amazon festival, If you add to cart in Apps like Amazon and keep it for a while, there is one offer which runs out of time in 15mins and product price increases in your cart. The actual product price will be lower but since the item was in the cart for more than 15mins, they just remove the discount and keep the item in your cart. If you don't observe these things, you will pay more
Recently the most trickery is the Free delivery with the subscription(Swiggy One, Zomato Gold) And here comes the constraints Min Cart value Delivery with range (under 7 kms) -- This even have other issues like the distance is riggered even some 5-6 KMs restaurants is listed has 7+ Kms Giving an illusion of options under various categories But at the end shows the sneaky amount saved during renewal
I noticed the same for a restaurant that is 4.2km from my place but comes up as 8km on Swiggy! Hence, additional delivery fee! Swiggy and Zomato already charge 25% commission, handling fee and now they want additional delivery charges too!
Use magicpin instead. Way better than swiggy and Zomato if you compare their charges. Even if the restaurant is 7+ km away, the delivery will be free for the 7kms and will only charge you for the extra 1-2kms, so something like 20-25 rupees. Which is a LOT better than swiggy, zomato charging 100+ for a restaurant that's 7.1km away.
this is such a braindead comment it's not even funny. there are tons of situations where ordering stuff makes sense. also the delivery fees the apps charge are actually quite low considering all the costs that go into the entire service. unfortunately the business model cannot have high margins because they're competing with people's willingness to step outside and get the products themselves.
The math didn't math and so today afternoon, I had uninstalled all the food delivery apps and grocery apps. And now in the evening, you guys launched this video. 😂
@@Zero1byZerodha Last month, i accidentally ordered a wrong food item and tired to cancel it right away. I was penalised 250Rs. I decided to stop using the app altogether. These days, I am stepping out to eat. Eating food at a restaurant justifies the inflated price (considering the real-estate cost, infra cost, etc). Takeaway does not. Btw, one chicken-thali costs 150 rupees at a restaurent. Comparable chicken-thali from swiggy would cost 250 after applying all promo codes. Prices are way too nonsensical.
Right now in any app/website my natural instinct is to click on buttons names "Remove" , "No", "I don't want to save money" instead of tapping yes yes yes yes and okay
Zepto is absolutely notorious with adding the subscription fee without concent... also rhey charge you extra for surge and any nonsense...even if you are paying subscription... But video is good... hope more people watch this.
That's why I always shop from Dmart And I make a list of items that am gonna purchase in advance, so that I don't overspend on unnecessary stuffs Discount bhi thik thak rhte hai No delivery charge, ussi bahane ghum bhi lete hai aur shopping bhi ho jati hai family ke sath😂
@@tanyakapoor7309 I purchase all the eatables from dmart but few other items like cosmetics (shampoo, conditioner, body lotions) are cheaper on Amazon, jiomart or flipkart grocery so I order them online
Dmart is good, but even Dmart and big shopping malls play psychology tricks on you. Their pack sizes are mostly large and you end up buying more than you need. Also the Buy 1 get 1 free and discount tags are deceiving sometimes because you end up buying more than you need.
I agree with your points and appreciate your posting. There are indeed traps we can fall into. Firstly, I’ve uninstalled those apps. My local retailer knows me well and sometimes, if I encounter a cash or UPI problem, he allows me to pay later. However, these apps don’t offer such flexibility. Thank you for your Team as well.
The most dark trickery in Food Delivery apps is when the restaurant has not sent you certain items that you ordered and when you complain to Swiggy they will simply say we will communicate this to restaurant and rate the restaurant which simply means we are not going to give you a single paisa refund. We will not take any responsibility. We will take your Delivery charges and commission from the restaurants and you know what you can't do a thing about that. That day I ate less food for the more money i paid for the same.
I have faced this so many times with Swiggy, I have stopped using it. Not saying Zomato is any better but I have never had such a bad experience with Zomato, they generally try to issue a reasonable if not full refund. Again, they are all the same at the end of the day but in the time of need when you actually need food delivery, Zomato is the best bet until they are not or Swiggy improves their post delivery service
@@utsavmehta33 I have had bad experience with both. Zomato doesn't refund. first they ask u to always drop an email from their chatbot rather than resolving the issue and refunding.
Best tips are, switch off all the notifications in shopping apps, buy or order only necessary, don't buy for offers. True story : I wanted to buy an laptop, it was around 49000, and it was Amazon sale season going to start in a week, so I decided to wait, after the sale started, even after the great discounts the price was 53000 😢
For these 10min delivery I generally do one thing. Keep specific and regular monthly’s grocery spread across the month. Example, oil, I require 2 lit of mustard and 2 litres of refine oil each month, 2kg of sugar like that. With every quick order I add one of these to exceed the basket value for free delivery. There is no harm stockings oil even it gets excess sometimes.
The most sneaky one I have seen is for Amazon Prime. I have to buy a subscription which gives me free prime deliveries on all my orders but the earliest possible option is not pre-selected in the checkout. I am shown the earliest possible delivery date as my estimated date on the product page, I have paid for the subscription but still I have to manually select the earlier date option when I check out. Deserves 8/10
That is not a dark pattern. It is for availability of customers, they're literally giving you choice and not assuming when you want the product delivered.
@@slashtab Even if we give all the benefit of doubt to the company and assume what you say is true. Then not selecting any option is more like giving me a choice. Pre-selecting the slowest one and expecting me to change is not "giving you choice and not assuming"
I have prime membership so I get 5% discount on my broadband bills with Amazon pay. I'm essentially getting it for half price and I still feel bad that I've to pay that😂
I ditch zomato whenever i can. I go out on my 150cc bike for a 2 - 3 km ride and get my food. Even if i have zomato if we compare the cost you'll save more if you go and pick it up yourself. Plus the breeze of fresh air brushing against your beard and face feels nice.
Big Basket increases price on same item after you've already paid and purchased. They deduct that amount on your next purchase. It's generally 2-10 rupees, but imagine how many customers they do this to.
One more I have noticed in BB is they cancel one product in range of 10 to 50 rupees and add as money to BB Wallet. this makes you to order next time to utilize that money.
10th dark pattern - Instead of giving what s/he paid for (membership), one have to SELECT the "Free delivery option" to get for free delivery, which was hidden under price breakdown.
I just checked my last grocery order, all I wanted was two 750m thumbs up but to avoid paying the cart fees I ended up spending 50% of my purchase value. Needed to buy worth ₹80, paid a total of ₹121. The convenience of having everything delivered is spoiling everyone.

Now a days zepto is adding gst separately for the items I buy from them. They themselves provide offers for items and then they are adding GST to the total which is completely baseless.
I hate these ultra fast grocery stores... I can proudly say I never downloaded these apps not shopped... But people around me keep bugging me to tryout and all ! I actually want to get dressed up, take my clothe bag and do shopping in mandis and bazar or supermarket, it feels like treasure hunt to go look for an item in different stores... and the joy of finally getting it... wow !! I am a proud old fashioned gen z.
Hey, I'm the guy from the tomato tweet! I'm glad you are spreading awareness of dark patterns, but it would be nice to be credited if you are using my content in your video 🙏
@@BONDAT If it is a tweet, it is in the public domain. I don't think any approval is needed, even if you show the identity of the tweeter. But I am not a lawyer, so I don't know for sure.
One of the things that I observed is that buy online (especially grocery or regular use items), if the need is extremely urgent. Regular use items in online platforms are usually marked-up pretty high. Same item can be found at your local store at 30-40% reduced cost. For eg, electrical tester available online was marked at Rs. 90, but same item when asked in local hardware store cost me Rs 50/-. Online purchase is mostly scam, unless convenience is required during purchase.
10 min grocery apps are a boon for working women with little kids. And basic grocery like dal chaval r much cheaper online. But Don't like buying clothes, shoes, big appliances online
Experienced 9/9 on multiple apps, and a last few were surprising (I really thought I had full control), and worst part is these tactics are not limited to grocery apps, I've experienced the membership without consent technique on medicine app.
These kind of patterns have always existed. Earlier when we used to go to a grocery store, they used to tell lower rate for an item whose price we already knew and I used to see my mother becoming a repeat customer even though the later prices were not very less. I regularly buy from online and offline. I have seen that long shelf life, manufactured items are cheaper online(but in bigger quantities), and fresh non-processed items are cheaper offline ( but this also depends on the standard of the area you stay. The more downmarket the area, the cheaper the items😅). So ultimately, maintaining a list for items you actually need helps reduce the number of online orders which actually makes a huge difference.
I’m a Maharashtrian living in Chennai for the past 6 months and despite all the trickeries of the 10 minute delivery apps, I still prefer them as language is a huge barrier in Chennai and these apps help me avoid some of the frustration related to the language barrier. Also, they offer pre cut fruits and vegetables, which are a huge boon for someone like me who’s a single working professional who spends more time in office than in home.
Somethings i do while ordering suff from 10 min delivery app are 1)take only direct discounts like 100 rupees pure discount instead of cashbacks 2) as my family uses the delivery apps like every 3 days (5 member family) i just buy the membership on only one app which consistently shows lower price than any app 3) never use the wallet option 4)ignore the progress bar cuz it forces u to buy products u don't generally buy
Sorry, late to the party! Amazing video! Loved all the insights! Consider me old school, but would still prefer to shop offline that obssess over 10 min delivery unless its too urgent or i am being lazy! Not sure why we as a country want everything in 10 mins while the rest of the world works slow! Culture?
Funfact: it's cheaper online for me, for eg, I can't find amul paneer anywhere near my home, & every other paneer costs ₹125 while amul is ₹100, so I buy paneer 4-5 packs enough for a month, & add soap or toothpaste kind of things to get free delivery (these things are sold at MRP in stores, but it's cheaper online)
There is another reason for the higher price. The GST on food is 5% if you eat in the restaurant. But the GST on food is 18% if it is delivered to you, because food delivered is considered a luxury item as per the tax policy. You may have heard of the difference in GST between popcorn and chocolate popcorn at movie theaters; this is similar to that.
It is but most of the times after applying coupons or discount it becomes nearly equal with free delivery, I have even noticed less price online and more offline in one outlet. Delivery apps make us spend more but they are convenient so its on the person how he or she chooses to spend.
thank you for letting us know about this scamming apps. the video was too good. one thing I noticed but may be silly "Sunday morning, her mom asks to order groceries for dinner??"
7:10 here is another dark pattern that they will put "no" button on the upper side and highlight it with attractive colour and "yes" ko they will keep ki "naah yeh toh ganda hai".. if anyone noticed
Everytime there's a sale on any major apparel brand, I usually go to the new clothes section (ones which are expensive and without sale) because I know why the "old season stock" (read: defective stock) is on sale. More importantly, you should see how the sales people go crazy and desperately try to push me back to the discounted stock ranting about how it's going to benefit me. Moral: There are no free lunches in life and the moment a company is pushing you hard towards something (pretending like you benefit from it), know it in your heart that it's a red flag. Okay, bye.
I have observed it especially in Mobiles. They will make a model worth 10k and everything would be just decent in that model. Then they will introduce another where almost everything will be phenomenal, but something would be absolutely rubbish and they would probably price that at 17k. This is just to shift your anchor from 10k to 17k. Now they will make the actual selling product where you will actually get hooked, and they will price it to 20k with all the satisfactory features. Now that you have 17k anchor with something rubbish, you'll feel put 3k more and get 20k one. But actually, your search might have started for the 10k one. Had there been no 17k model you would not have bought the 20k model.
It's not GST 's fault tho. The platform has shitton of fees for no reason, gst is supposed to be added on all the taxable service amounts If they remove these fees, gst will only be charged on the food/item And you go to your local vendor to buy groceries, packed foods already have mrp inclusive of taxes and vegetables and all that don't have gst
Despite these tactics, I still save money using these. The indian consumer isn't naive, especially about money. That's why so many of these apps are still not making profit.
On the wallet part, you could get decent cashback and/or credit card points if you purchase them wisely via gift, etc. The rest of the points are bang on target! Thanks for the video. :)
Country Delight is the king with dark patterns and I hate them for the same. Buy a Vip membership of 400 per month to get discount on products - like really? - the discount is not even worth 400 rupees at all. Handling charges of 18 rupees
I have a swiggy one subscription and wanted to order something to eat however, the store location was shown as 8km from my house hence, was asked to pay a delivery fee. I did a google search for the same restaurant location and it is in fact just 4.2km from my location! Ideally, the delivery should have been free but Swiggy just wanted to fleece me and make more money even though I am a swiggy one subscriber!
Its simple to beat this dark pattern... Make a list of items you really need.... Then added it but make budget of targeted bill....like when we go for dmart papa give 5k or 10 k any cirtain ammount so even though you like to buy but due to less of money you can not go for it
During winters when the production of tomato is high, a kilo of tomato actually sells for ₹15 to ₹20 at our local vendor. And when the production of tomatoes is very low, especially before the winter, it sells for around ₹60 to ₹80 a kilo.
I just subscribed because of the guy on the screen... don’t even know his name, but he’s just right there explaining everything to me. so, yeah, I went ahead and subscribed to the channel (with that notification bell on ☺). I know, I know, I’m officially a consumer now, but I really believe that whatever I get from this channel is gonna be good for me. Big shoutout to the presenter.... keep up the awesome work👍😊
I only order in bulk and we calculate each product as we know offline prices too.. plus i get discounts actually.. we do every month.. If something is too expensive we skip it..and get it from offline stores..lol
One thing that I always don't like what these apps do is, they add tips in the delivery and mark a random figure as most tipped. The last time I ordered something from Zomato, the item price was something like 200 and they showed Rs. 70 as "most tipped". I do give tips. But I give them in their hands when they show up at the door. The delivery companies by nudging us to tip the boys from their platform are collecting data about tips and my fear is one day they will tell these guys that you are making so much money on tips that you dont need the per delivery charges. Entire cost will be borne by us in the name of "Free Delivery". I am not in favour of these practices.
I think the reason people are willing to pay more to get things to be delivered is because I feel It almost feels like a room service experience because anything you say ( anything) is available in a few minutes
I feel so good watching this video cause me and my family never order anything online except from Amazon like twice a year, we just visit the local farmers market once a week and the prices are dirt cheap and it is straight from the farmland no preservatives and bullshits, anything apart from veggies we buy it from the local supermarket and that's it we actually save money unlike these people who think they do using these apps........for anyone who worries about the petrol charge, think again the delivery is also done by someone driving a vehicle not by a genie
Still better than local shops that don't offer much discount. Agree that we purchase more than we need but at the end of the day it's food that we going to eat. Beats purchasing gadgets that would go useless in few days and buying expensive data charges for streaming videos and waste time on socials.
Another dark pattern: On one instant delivery app, I had purchased a monthly pass that promised Free Delivery for all orders. But while placing an order, I noticed that the order total included Delivery Fees. And that I had to check a separate check box that would allow me to "Apply Free Delivery" to this particular order! They made free delivery an opt-in for each order, hoping I'd miss it while placing the order. The sheer audacity.
Another one. You add items to your cart, apply coupon. But, Sometimes when you go back to add few items, they remove the applied coupon and you wouldn’t even notice. This happens even when the minimum order value of coupon is fulfilled at all times.
Yes the 9th one is not just on 10 min grocery app.. Urban company adds membership automatically.. if you are not focused on the price of the service you have ordered.
Putting out stats such as biggest order of the year came from Bangalore Rs. 58,000 in one night is also a dark pattern albeit used once a year or once a quarter. This makes one feel heroic on ordering on a quick delivery app.
Pre-decided TIP to the delivery partner is something many do not notice too. Many apps make it 50 which is way too high when you already have purchased the premium access to their services.
The last trickery is used in Tata 1mg also. They will sneak you ₹129 care membership into your cart and reduce some price in total cart value. You’ll either not notice and order it along with other items or when u try to remove it, it will prompt that it will also remove the offer price which u got because of care plan. And one more thing is, they will not keep the care plan in cart with all ur items, it will be in a separate banner with toggle, which we will not look into thinking it is just an ad from the company for Careplan. ☹️
One of the dark patters is that when you open blink it and add items to your cart and leave the app for some reason and after a while when you come back again they will add some sort of cess or high demand surcharge for no reason i mean there have been times when i was about to order something and quit the app because i had to answer a call or do some quick chores In my opinion This makes you order things in pressure the next time you do it
What I've experienced is that you get the worst product that's not selling in the market, for free. There's an evident difference between the product quality of things you buy for free vs the things with no discount
For me, delivery in 10 mins average is a blessing, something Noone had imagined before it actually existed, even in the morning rush, I can cook anything I fancy , I even start cooking and order coriander to finish it off.
The actual problem is that people don't wait and read the whole billing page. And that's the problem. If you read it for a minute, there is a chance either you would not buy it or you can easily close off all of it.
Bro's making mountain out of a mole hill here, he emphasizes on spending more but then at the end you are buying something which you will use. If I'm adding something to save delivery fee, I won't be adding things I don't use for example a crate of eggs even though I am vegetarian. this small cart fee, delivery fee is to avoid making a giant corporation to work in harmony to delivery 40 Rs tomato to a customer. They need a specific order size to deliver things for free in order to survive. And if they add membership to a cart just remove it, they aren't debiting money from your account. For Subsicription, buy it if you are a regular consumer. Simple. I have had people sell me insurance and credit cards in more weirder ways. And if you are slightly diligent, like very slightly you won't fall into anything malice here.

Delivery with range (under 7 kms) -- This even have other issues like the distance is riggered even some 5-6 KMs restaurants is listed has 7+ Kms
Giving an illusion of options under various categories
But at the end shows the sneaky amount saved during renewal
I have found the same , a week before restaurant was under 7km category, yesterday it was 7km+ 😂
I noticed the same for a restaurant that is 4.2km from my place but comes up as 8km on Swiggy! Hence, additional delivery fee! Swiggy and Zomato already charge 25% commission, handling fee and now they want additional delivery charges too!
I got 3 months free delivery for Rs. 30
30rs fr 3months😂
Use magicpin instead. Way better than swiggy and Zomato if you compare their charges. Even if the restaurant is 7+ km away, the delivery will be free for the 7kms and will only charge you for the extra 1-2kms, so something like 20-25 rupees. Which is a LOT better than swiggy, zomato charging 100+ for a restaurant that's 7.1km away.
Finally someone is talking about the scamful acts of delivery services.
Everyone does it. Even insurance companies. It's not dark arts, it's rather bad spending from customer standpoint.
this is such a braindead comment it's not even funny. there are tons of situations where ordering stuff makes sense. also the delivery fees the apps charge are actually quite low considering all the costs that go into the entire service. unfortunately the business model cannot have high margins because they're competing with people's willingness to step outside and get the products themselves.
Feeling guilty when walking out of a store without buying anything is one dark pattern, possibly a me problem
Us bro😅
Common problem, just don't enter into stores you know you can't afford products there
@@losaal_lom-uu6mw it's not always about affordability.
Very true
y wud u buy somethin if u don like
The math didn't math and so today afternoon, I had uninstalled all the food delivery apps and grocery apps. And now in the evening, you guys launched this video. 😂
what a coincidence :)
Yes this is the way😂
Zepto is absolutely notorious with adding the subscription fee without concent... also rhey charge you extra for surge and any nonsense...even if you are paying subscription...
But video is good... hope more people watch this.
Zepto was so good, I got groceries free for 2 months. As long as you know how to abuse the system, it works in your favor
That's why I always shop from Dmart
And I make a list of items that am gonna purchase in advance, so that I don't overspend on unnecessary stuffs
Discount bhi thik thak rhte hai
No delivery charge, ussi bahane ghum bhi lete hai aur shopping bhi ho jati hai family ke sath😂
That’s true but Dmart is a little pricey compared to Amazon. At least for the groceries
@@tanyakapoor7309 yup that's true but there are some products that are available for cheaper price on dmart compared to amazon and vice versa
@@tanyakapoor7309 I purchase all the eatables from dmart but few other items like cosmetics (shampoo, conditioner, body lotions) are cheaper on Amazon, jiomart or flipkart grocery so I order them online
dmart offline price is way more better than dmart on the app and the order value is 500/-
Dmart is good, but even Dmart and big shopping malls play psychology tricks on you. Their pack sizes are mostly large and you end up buying more than you need. Also the Buy 1 get 1 free and discount tags are deceiving sometimes because you end up buying more than you need.
1:15 that's an pattern right there, it's for engagement till the end 😂😂
Charging more based on the type of phones used is another dark pattern
I agree with your points and appreciate your posting. There are indeed traps we can fall into. Firstly, I’ve uninstalled those apps. My local retailer knows me well and sometimes, if I encounter a cash or UPI problem, he allows me to pay later. However, these apps don’t offer such flexibility.
Thank you for your Team as well.
They also providing pay later like amazon pay later, simpl, lazypay😂
@@utsavmehta33 This is true, Swiggy started to ignore customer complaints unless they are new
Same with me....Paid barabar paisa but ATE LESS
@@utsavmehta33 I have had bad experience with both. Zomato doesn't refund. first they ask u to always drop an email from their chatbot rather than resolving the issue and refunding.
Swiggy de paisa refund karwana is like solving a puzzle.
I prefer zomato.
Best tips are, switch off all the notifications in shopping apps, buy or order only necessary, don't buy for offers. True story : I wanted to buy an laptop, it was around 49000, and it was Amazon sale season going to start in a week, so I decided to wait, after the sale started, even after the great discounts the price was 53000 😢
Eye opener experience
i was made complusion buying
jbl soundbar was on offer
later it turned out to be crappy boomy bass
Happened to me as well. :(
For these 10min delivery I generally do one thing.
Deserves 8/10
me buying prime subscription on GIF sale only and cancelling after i ordered all the items
That is not a dark pattern. It is for availability of customers, they're literally giving you choice and not assuming when you want the product delivered.
@@slashtab No. It is a dark pattern.
Plus the breeze of fresh air brushing against your beard and face feels nice.
wat if itz a sunny hot day
Big Basket increases price on same item after you've already paid and purchased. They deduct that amount on your next purchase. It's generally 2-10 rupees, but imagine how many customers they do this to.
One more I have noticed in BB is they cancel one product in range of 10 to 50 rupees and add as money to BB Wallet. this makes you to order next time to utilize that money.
That mostly happens when you buy vegetables and fruits. They adjust the price based on the variation in quantity but usually that's a minor variation.
Offer not applicable on ghee, oil, milk etc.. is the biggest trickery 😂
Yeah lol
10th dark pattern - Instead of giving what s/he paid for (membership), one have to SELECT the "Free delivery option" to get for free delivery, which was hidden under price breakdown.
They show higher MRP and sell at discount but in reality in open market MRP is less.
I just checked my last grocery order, all I wanted was two 750m thumbs up but to avoid paying the cart fees I ended up spending 50% of my purchase value.
Needed to buy worth ₹80, paid a total of ₹121.
The convenience of having everything delivered is spoiling everyone.
Sometimes to avoid paying extra, I go to the nearby shop to buy it myself😂
Why should you buy 2× 750 ml thumbs-up for Rs.80, when you can buy 2250 ml thumbs-up for Rs.95 ?
@ because once the bottle is opened it’s about a matter of minutes, the cold drink will be out of gas and any next consumption of the said cold drink will simply not taste that good.
@@PulkitSomani5 .. I don't keep opening the 2 liter bottle each time I want to drink 1 glass of thumbs-up.. I have an empty 750 ml thumbs-up bottle with me.. So, I just use a funnel and pour the cola from 2 liter bottle into 750 ml bottle. So, because the remaining 1500 ml cola in 2 liter bottle is closed, the gas in that 2 liter bottle does not go away... After the 750 ml bottle is over, I again fill it from the 2 liter bottle.. Both The cola bottles should be placed in tray of the fridge above the vegetable compartment. The Cola bottles should NOT be placed in the door of the fridge. Because each time the fridge door is opened, the cola keeps moving inside the bottle and gas is lost from cola. The less the bottle is shaked, lesser the gas loss..

The black board calculation! Yes! I've done that! 😀 👌🏼
Hey, I'm the guy from the tomato tweet! I'm glad you are spreading awareness of dark patterns, but it would be nice to be credited if you are using my content in your video 🙏
Too much procedure to find u, ask for Approval and then post. So they probably hid ur Id and posted.
I have wallet money in zepto which I added in Bangalore.
The app won't let me use the wallet money after I shifted to Delhi.
😂
Then go to Bangalore duh!
I respect tata bigbasket over here. Strict policy above 299 free delivery and I think between 100 to 299 rs9 delivery always no trickery
The 9th one will blow your mind - Thats a pattern too🙂 ! But, Great info
!
Somethings i do while ordering suff from 10 min delivery app are
1)take only direct discounts like 100 rupees pure discount instead of cashbacks
2) as my family uses the delivery apps like every 3 days (5 member family) i just buy the membership on only one app which consistently shows lower price than any app
3) never use the wallet option
4)ignore the progress bar cuz it forces u to buy products u don't generally buy
I add items to the cart, check the price, and then go to the store and feel good about running an errand.
One man’s misery is another man’s fortune 🙃
You're right. If you notice price on zomato, its higher than the price in the actual menu in restaurants
Restaurants have to give commission to zomato n swiggy. Thats why
Moral:
There are no free lunches in life and the moment a company is pushing you hard towards something (pretending like you benefit from it), know it in your heart that it's a red flag.
Okay, bye.
brilliant, so relatable. We often get extremely unhealthy items, which they give away "free" hoping we'll get hooked onto them!!
Every time I watch your videos I am amazed at topics you and your team come up with!!❤
That's why I always consider assured offers only
The most tricky part is that I didn't search this video, RUclips knew I use these apps, recommended it for me😮!!!
Gst has become such a nuisance. They charge on platform fee, subscription fee, delivery fee, packaging fee apart from the regular fee on food
Current greedy govt has to blame for this
It's not GST 's fault tho. The platform has shitton of fees for no reason, gst is supposed to be added on all the taxable service amounts
If they remove these fees, gst will only be charged on the food/item
And you go to your local vendor to buy groceries, packed foods already have mrp inclusive of taxes and vegetables and all that don't have gst
11:32 the last one happened to me and now currently they're making me guilty to continue with membership 😅😂
They are the worst. I think they have 450gm items. I hate that scrappy app
Another scam there is less quantity of groceries. If you order 1 kg of onion, you ll mostly get 800 to 900 gms.
Not only Quick commerce but regular e-commerce companies specially Amazon
We once got a chicken soup as a free item. My mom gave it to the delivery person! 😛
better than premier, thanks, please keep uploading in a chunk
5:20 - Hotel California❤
Such a lovely place ❤️
These are all the things that are there in the back of our mind but we never really noticed it this video is really amazing
Haha haha "Guys its Anda" ! - No 8 is the best 🤣🤣
Your closing remarks were epic!
I think the reason people are willing to pay more to get things to be delivered is because I feel It almost feels like a room service experience because anything you say ( anything) is available in a few minutes
Really a valid point and we all being trapped by corporate capitalists
I feel so good watching this video cause me and my family never order anything online except from Amazon like twice a year, we just visit the local farmers market once a week and the prices are dirt cheap and it is straight from the farmland no preservatives and bullshits, anything apart from veggies we buy it from the local supermarket and that's it we actually save money unlike these people who think they do using these apps........for anyone who worries about the petrol charge, think again the delivery is also done by someone driving a vehicle not by a genie
This gives me an idea on how to legally proceed against these 10-minute delivery apps for Fraud, Cheating, and Unfair Trade Practices. 😊
Atleast someone is talking about these Dark truths which these companies play with consumer mind set
Actually you just said, whatever my entire family follows. Just a refresh is comforting sir. Keep rocking like this ❤🎉
Still better than local shops that don't offer much discount.
Yeah, that's a terrible dark pattern!
Man! You're helping a lot of people.
God bless you!
7:35 I rate this segment of the video 10/10 on the trickery meter
Knew all of the tricks except the 9th one
btw amazing video
Thank you ❤️
This was really helpful. I will try to implement some this myself in my business 😎 👍
My Zomato savings till now is 26k 😂🤐 It's a pool account used by me and my friends. sometimes memberships are useful 😅
Yes can be useful if used in such manner
The last trickery is used in Tata 1mg also. They will sneak you ₹129 care membership into your cart and reduce some price in total cart value. You’ll either not notice and order it along with other items or when u try to remove it, it will prompt that it will also remove the offer price which u got because of care plan. And one more thing is, they will not keep the care plan in cart with all ur items, it will be in a separate banner with toggle, which we will not look into thinking it is just an ad from the company for Careplan. ☹️
One of the dark patters is that when you open blink it and add items to your cart and leave the app for some reason and after a while when you come back again they will add some sort of cess or high demand surcharge for no reason i mean there have been times when i was about to order something and quit the app because i had to answer a call or do some quick chores
In my opinion This makes you order things in pressure the next time you do it
Amazing video, The entire team has done a very wonderful job
Good to see these guys breaking the behind the scenes
What I've experienced is that you get the worst product that's not selling in the market, for free. There's an evident difference between the product quality of things you buy for free vs the things with no discount
As a UI/UX designer, I feel it's our responsibility to make platforms more neutral and stop making people feel bad!
Blinkit won’t even show the price breakup on the cart, they’ll just show the “pay” button
Completely agree
Totally agree with you...only if you are not careful you will be cheated
