Went to US recently and signed up for free trial of Walmart premium service. No way to cancel it on website, app, everywhere. Ultimately had to open it on desktop mode and find a small cancel option.
We need 'Click to cancel' laws in India too. Basically it says, that a company must make cancelling a subscription as easy it was to sign up for it. Say if you want a music membership. You click its button, it asks you for your payment details, and then you are subscribed. They can't make it require 3 clicks to cancel it then. If you want to make it hard to leave, make it hard to join too
Then how will company survive more! initially intention of most of the companies to make profit and get ours attention so they make an addictive products so we can't be excaped. For a while let's us assume if laws has made then most of companies will not survive anymore they will died in few years due to mass loses. Indeed it is beneficial for commons person to save their money.

Printer payment is cruel but not criminal yet. We know of a situation where metro trains come with Digital Rights Management software where if the train is serviced by a third party, the software blocks certain services. Imagine keeping your infrastructure on subscription for annual maintenance.

Hold on. I bought a canon printer. Everything was going well when suddenly it stopped printing in about 2 years. Took it to service center. They said, there is a chip inside which would count about 4000 sheets and KILL the machine ( I am sure I might have used about 1500 pages of print). Yes it killed mine. No software reset, Can't replace the chip. Ended up was electronic waste. Here it is not even the question of using company cartridge. Printer as born with built in death date

After 3 years , the bluelink subscription ended, but the funny part is, the voice command features are gone as well, meaning i cannot use a physical button present in the car and have to subscribe to bluelink to use it..

Also 1 Good think about Indian mandates is that you get notified 1 day before through sms about money gonna get deducted from credit card (not International), so you do get option to cancel. Only time i forgot was my digital ocean droplet that I forgot to stop for to no notification... Ended up paying few thousand that month

What do you guys think about tecpac in EVs ? The features are already there but you have to pay to unlock.
I understand in some EV there is a sim and you need to have subscription which they take annually anyways.
For me to pay for tecpac to unlock the features already in the vehicle is a scam

I am one of the victim of Adobe subscription.
Worst are broadband providers. I had to literally threaten customer care that I am recording this call and will take them to court. This after half hour call to just request closing of my account.
Is this nagging cancellation - only in India or abroad too ?
Cancelling a subscription is easy, if you cancel it at your payment end. Like for example cancel the auto pay mandates in the bank or upi app.
Banks have also made difficult to cancel standing instruction. They ask for seperate credentials noteven showtheexisting subscriptions or details of them. this should also be considered by rbi
That's exactly why i didn't subscribe for Spotify even though it's only Rs 60 for 3 months. I grew up watching TV with so many ads, why can't I watch it for few mins now
Why does Zerodha charge Quarterly maintenance cost when they are already charging brokerage for trades? The account becomes dormant when the charge is not paid!
Reminder to cancel before payment helped me from any payment till date (atleast ones I never intended to continue) Including cards.
