    All those filters and fluids are available from Amazon

    I have the off road package and towing - it comes with a much larger tranny cooler from factory. They should have done that to all of them. The hard part is getting to the 4 bolts on the filter housing

    To date, transmission has not overheated since the cooler was installed. The car was driven at 75mph for a 100 miles on very hot days several times.
    Owner reports a whine that would precede the overheating (before cooler was installed). She said she did hear the same whining start during some of these trips and she slowed down for a few minutes until it quieted down. No overheating incidents. HTH

    Do you loose ac charge since you have to unplug the ac condenser, looking to do the same thing to my 08 patriot sport to keep the cvt Temps down

      You don't need to disconnect the ac condenser. Possibly you saw the disconnection of the factory transmission oil cooler that is part of the condenser? These lines are independent of the A/C lines.

    Any idea why the transmission didn’t pump out a bunch of fluid from the return line? I’m trying to completely flush my fiancé’s Jeep Patriot and do both filters. I used the same technique flushing from the return on my truck and it would pump out like a water hose. Kept adding until there nothing but fresh fluid coming out. Didn’t have the same luck trying this method. I guess I’ll just settle for the pan drop method. Great video btw!!

      Yeah, no idea. I know exactly what you are saying. It just poured out slowly, even in gear.
      Thanks for the compliment.

    How much fluid did you lose when top filter was changed? Also how much extra cvt fluid did it call for. 7.5 quarts is the oem capacity

    • @ducdaveduc
      @ducdaveduc  4 года назад

      Ugh, I can’t remember exactly but it wasn’t much. I used less than a quart to top it off after installing the cooler.

    My husband wants to know if you still used the factory trans cooler or only that one

    • @ducdaveduc
      @ducdaveduc  3 года назад

      I use the factory cooler AND the one I added. I think if you watch the video and can follow my less-that-perfect explanation, I explain how the fluid runs through both coolers.

      NOPE! She even drove it fully loaded up (she's moving) in 96 degrees for 1.5 hours last week. No problems.

      One more question! Do you remember how many quarts it took? Just did the work and even added a fan but not really sure how to measure so I’ve put a little over four I’m curious to know what you put

    • @ducdaveduc
      @ducdaveduc  2 года назад +1

      @@jmeza157 ummm, I thought I only replace a bit that had leaked when I took the lines off. I certainly didn’t lose 4 quarts. I actually think it was less than a quart. Did you drain the fluid to change it? Her’s was just changed at the dealer so I didn’t mess with that.

  • @ducdaveduc

    UPDATE! One of the hose clamps that came with the cooler FAILED. Luckily the leak was not bad enough to let her sit but it did make a mess. Replacing all the clamps with high quality ones.

      Hi Dave
      My wife's Patriot is doing the exact same thing and I was planning on adding an extra cooler to the front as well. They also did not change the filter in the cooler pump when they did the fluid change so I plan on changing that as well. What high quality clamps did you use to replace the ones that came with the cooler?

      I finally replaced the rest of the clamps. All the rest were secure but I replaced them all anyway. The only issue I had was that I could not separate the hoses at barbed fittings - they hold well! I tried to open the new clamps and just retread them but I couldn’t get it to happen! I ended up cutting the new extension hose, cut the hose piece off the barb. Then I slid on both clamps, stuck the hose back on and tightened the clamps.
