- HI IN THIS VIDEO I WILL SHOW YOU HOW YOU CAN CHANGE THE CVT FLUID / OIL AND CVT FILTER but this is 1 off 2 there is another one the one you really need to change I will add the link here so you can change it as well ,this one is a 2015 jeep patriot 2.0

There are TWO filters in case anyone is planning on doing this job. Just a reminder don't forget to change the second one under the battery. Some people might watch the video only and not realize there are two. Still this is a good video showing how to remove the bottom filter and change the fluid.
Is only cvt patriot? Or is the same Atf patriot?
I was wondering how come he didn't replaced that filter by the battery
You saved me some money. Thanks man! Told my mechanic I was going to try and do it myself. He said the only tip he’d give me was putting a little bit of silicon on the gasket to hold it into place while putting it back on. Worked like a charm.
Thanks for your feedback
Change the second filter also! I show how to do this, its important
Yeah I watched both his videos. The second filter is the one that really matters my mechanic told me.
Correct
When my car was new I used the engine dip stick to check the trans fluid then scratched a line at the level , it's just above the engine full line .
This is genius
Thank you for show that I been trying to change my fluid but many people don’t show you everything
Your welcome and thanks for for your feedback
And he didn't there's a cartridge filter on the side where the lines come in from the cooler looks like a mini oil filter he didn't show anything about that that was going to plug up before anything else
Sir look under this video and you will see the link of when I did the other filter , thanks
Jeep Patriot has 2 transmission filters, the second one is under the battery base, easier to change than the bottom one, if you’re gonna change filter and fluid, change both
Correct I did both if you look at the link under this video I show you how to do the other one , thanks
In fact, the bottom one is basically pointless to replace since it's just a screen, not an actual filter
Thank you for sharing this video. It was very good and I appreciate you taking the time it do this one. I just did this on my 2012 jeep patriot. It took me a total of 50 minutes start to finish. Was exactly as you show it. Thank you again.
You're welcome , thanks for your feedback
Yo Nestor...your videos and teaching style is the BOMB....THANK YOU my Brother and please keep the videos coming..PEACE from Chicago!!!
Hey thanks Richard for your feedback
Instablaster.
Great job!!! Very professionally done with a great tutorial. You are appreciated 🙌
Thanks boss
Working on friends 2012 did oil change & new plugs.
Took for test drive & was pretty freaked when heavy footing gas feeling no shift change which gained my attention quick lol.
Took look @ tack all was well.
In coming week I'm going to replace tran fluid , your video will be very helpful completing that task successfully.
Thanks much for making available.
Yes sir you welcome PJC
This video was a work of art 🤌
Thanks!!!!
Thanks boss
Muy buen tutorial. Muchas gracias!
Gracias , gracias por su apoyo
Thank you brother ! Helped me a lot. Great video !
Thanks for your feedback boss
Leave your skid plate off to inspect for any leaks then put it on
Ok thanks
THANK YOU SO FUCKING MUCH!!!!!!!!!! Amazing video, best on the internet for the jeep patriot. pretty sure 2007-17 are the same. Saving people $100s here.
I love the little trick you did with the empty oil jug. A MEN!
Lol thanks for your feedback boss , ✅💪
Hey remember there is the main filter check out my other video link below thanks
They are not the same because my jeep patriot 2014 sport everything looks the same except the top of the transmission looks npthing like this and has no spot for the cooler cartridge filter so I have no idea where it is located.
You’ve got skills bro.
Thanks boss , thanks for your feedback
MUST change the second one, most dont, I show how to do this on my videos on the CVT's
Yes I have another video for the main filter as well
Great video.. very professional. Thank you
Thanks boss
Good job I cant wait to fix my jeep just like you
Thanks , best luck
interesting the maintenance you have carried out. I have a 2014 compass, 2.0 petrol vvt and have not found any technical information and history on this type of jeep engine. Do you have something to tell me or point to some links? Thank you very much
Sorry I don't
Nice video brother! Happy New Year!
Thanks Brandon ‘ happy new year to you too. Thanks for your feedback
I have a Jeep Compass 2012, I have a Jeep Compass 2012, a question, is the same volumetric 5 4ts? CVT fluid? How to check the correct level from this fluid.... thanks a great video!
There is a bolt on the side of the transmission , you rove it with the engine running and fill it up untill oil star coming out
very nice video, rely helpful btw i think there is two filter for transmission
Yes you can see my link
Thanks for your feedback
What kind of floor jack are you using? Nice video explaining the process and the secondary filter!
Oh thanks here is the link for the other main filter ruclips.net/video/8h_i0zY4zGc/видео.html
The jack is made by stratus 8000lb
Good one Bro very explanatory!!
Thanks boss
Nice video, I gave a thumbs up
Hello. I finally did most of the work but I think I made a mistake. I put some oil on the pan gasket. Before I put the 5 liters of new oil, I can tell if the pan's seal has been compromised. I mean the gasket should be dry is that right? I await thanks!
It can be wet is all good
Excelente!!!
@@nestorautorepair perfecto, muchas gracias.
Sus videos me sirven demasiado, mil gracias.
Hello, I love your videos! My question is can I use Mopar CVTF+4 instead? But their not synthetic and kinda expensive compare to other brand. Thank you.
I have a 2012 Jeep patriot Latitude 4wd 2.4L, I believe it went into limp mode, and when I would press on the accelerator after having slowed down or coming to a stop, sometimes I’d have the gas pedal all the way to the floor, and wouldn’t be going any where.. well then it would accelerate some but never would shift gears out of 1st. So I parked my car and haven’t drove it since.. please help me, what do you recommend I do?
Read the codes with a scanner that can read codes from the transmission
I already did that, I’ve got the paper with the trouble shooted codes being read by the diagnostic computer. I have found that everything that is going on with my car is pointing towards a faulty shift solenoid, where is that located on my jeep Patriot? And is it a costly repair?
Everybody i see doing transmission fluid change on a jeep patriot always has the tube for the dipstick, but my 2015 patriot doesnt have one..wtf!! I really wish it did!! Would make my life so much easier.
Yes sir they do sale one that you can use for it
@@nestorautorepair no not a dipstick, but the actual tube or location that the dipstick goes in to...my patriot doesnt have one.
Ok
Did you figure out that problem? my battery went bad and when I changed it that filling neck was just hanging off
It has one probably broke off that’s why you can’t locate it
14:32 bro you’re like bob ross. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I just need the hair lol
If you take your cvt jeep to a mechanic , they will only change the fluid. Even the dealer will only change the pan screen filter if they find metal shavings. NO ONE will change the upper paper filter. Unfortunately that upper paper filter is VERY IMPORTANT to change. Even if nothing else was done here, JUST changing the upper filter would make a big difference in transmission operation, even with dirty fluid. The fluid will not cool or flow properly if that paper filter is clogged.
Probably would never do this but looks good. Mine is a 2011 lol.
Lol thanks
my transmission failed bro! I thought the dealer does this stuff? I might buy another one, but its at 81k.
Why is there a 2nd filter under the battery? I would be afraid to bring the car into a mechanic . They probably wont change the 2nd one. thank you
Thank you very much.
You're welcome
Thanks for the video. Quick question I have a Jeep Patriot 2007 and when I put in reverse or drive it jerks badly. Is it the the transmission? Or something else
More likely transmission but most of the time is a bad solenoide
I had that problem and it was bad spark plugs. check that out. they should be changed every 30,000 miles.
👍
Good job on this video
Thanks
Be damn careful with the gasket. It's easy to screw this up. The Car Wizard shows how to use superglue to set the gasket in place to make sure it doesn't slip while screwing on the pan. In this video, he skips over this, but you should use about 8ft/lbs of torque, no more than 10 to tighten the bolts. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. Two issues, warped pan that will leak like a sieve, plus the aluminium threads in the block will strip easy.
Is the oil like Dextron 3 ?, that thing could just adjust the travel of the accelerator pedal to less travel to ( more ) input
Yes
Why Don’t change Fluid in Turque converter?
Excellent job man!
I have a Jeep Patriot 2008 4x4. I want to change the transmission fluid, but the car has 107000 mileage on it, and I don't think that ever had a transmission fluid change. Is there any risk if i do it now. Do you recommend it?
Thank you sir!
If is running good go for it do it
@@nestorautorepair it goes into a limp mode (transmission fluid overheated) when i drive in the summer time. RPM are high, power goes down.
No problem in the winter time. 🤔
Mmmm I don't think it will be the best idea to change it
How often to change the CVT fluid and 2 filters? It seems like its easy for access on Patriot.Would you recommend to buy a patriot?
Dude. That lift is awesome, where did you get that at?
Hey thanks I got it from the company , stratus
Thank you Friend!
You welcome Snarff
Thanks excelent!!
U welcome Leo
Nice, but one serious flaw. He used the wrong fluid in the tranny. This takes CVTF +4 fluid, I only see Mopar, Valvoline and Castrol on the market. The Mopar is the same price and sometimes lower. DON'T use " CVT " fluid!
Ok boss but that's what the system say it takes at the auto part store
@@nestorautorepair Their bad then. Maybe it works okay, but I wouldn't risk it or trust them for fluid specifications anymore. This is from jeep forums: "The following fluids are all "claimed" to work in our CVT's but I make no personal claims one way or another that they do or do not. It is just a list of mfg's claiming their fluids work or fluid types( Nissan NS-2 )that are/should be the same thing as CVTF+4 with a different name. If selecting one other than the OEM MOPAR fluid you are using it at your own risk. Don't yell at me if your trans fails. :Na_Na_Na_Na:
Hope this helps...
The CVTF+4/Nissan NS-2 only fluids...
MOPAR CVTF+4( obviously )
Nissan NS-2( supposed to be exact same as CVTF+4 )
Beck Arnley NS-2 Premium Constant Velocity Fluid( appears to be a specific NS-2 fluid )
RAVENOL CVTF NS2/J1 Fluid( appears to be a specific NS-2 fluid )
The Universal CVT Fluids the mfg's claim work in our vehicles( may or may not be available in everyone's country )...
Valvoline CVT Fluid
SuperSyn Synthetic CVT Transmission Fluid
Redline Non-Slip CVT Fluid
LubeGard Universal CVT Fluid
BG Universal Synthetic CVT Fluid
Eneos CVT Fluid"
@@nestorautorepair There is a big debate on jeep patriot forums about generic cvt fluids. Also, Mopar seems to add a blacklight dye so they can tell if you used other than their own juice and kill the warranty repairs. That Autoquest juice is likely Valvoline. Since they cost the same it just safer to stick with the Mopar. Who knows, maybe Valvoline makes the fluid for Mopar anyway!
Ok thanks for sharing
I have a 2014 Jeep Patriot 5spd, would I be able to do this? like could my trans handle the pedal commander?
I'm sure it will yes
Thanks 😊
You're welcome
where does your garage located ?
I have patriot 2012 FRWD 2.4 engine is the same filter and gasket??
Yes sir
Thanks brother. You have been a great help.
You're welcome boss
Is it better to use oem mopar filters and other parts?
Where can I go to get this done to My car cvt shit help 😩
Bad ass camera
Thanks
I only change my oil on the Patriot, how often should I change everything else?
Every 30k
There is another filter as well
Yes sir I have the link under this video replacing the other filter
thanks for the tutorial. 👍
at what mileage was the oil changed?
Your welcome , there is a secondary filter for the cvt trans , I will be making a video soon when I get the filter from the dealer

do you know the exact torque force to tighten the bolts in the oil pan? I tried doing this yesterday and now its leaking, also can i reuse the original metal gasket that came off instead of the new rubber one? any sealant you recommend? Im re doing this today to try to fix the leak
Don't over tide it it will leak ,,
The bolts just need to be snug. 12 foot pounds will pull the pan in and split the gasket. I never use a torque wrench on a pan or a valve cover. Just snug and you'll be fine,
Also don't use any sealer don't need too
Did you ever get it done? I was wondering if you could reuse the metal gasket as well.
@@phillippardo5712 I didn’t re use the metal gasket i just torked the bolts a little bit more and somehow it stopped the leak, but i would buy a oem one if i was to re do it again, also make sure to torque to spec each one of bolts
Do you think the metal gasket can be reused?
After I changed my stock tires to some more beefy off roaring ones, it started making a whining noise like if something was too tight or something whenever I slow down, I accelerate after being stopped and the whining noise continues. Is it the new wheels? I also haven’t changed my cvt fluid and I need to change the throttle body. Any idea what the sound is? I changed my breaks too and it still does it.
Is the noise only when moving ? Or when coming to a stop? Or just when the car is park
@@nestorautorepair the noise is when slowing down and coming to a stop, it also makes it when starting to move from being stopped. Also forgot to mention, they didn’t lubricate the breaks when they changed them. I don’t know if that’s what’s causing the noise too.
It can be yes , you need to lubricate pads legs and the slide pin as well
@@nestorautorepair got it, thanks! Will look into it!
Yes sir you're welcome
Do you know where pressure control solenoid B is
Not really
Hey man what if that filling neck is broken? Are those expensive to replace?
For the oil or gas?
Sweet
Hey where did you bought the liftgate for the vehicle
From stratus. Com
What drill is that ?
What is your opinion on these transmissions versus standard?
I will say if you can get a manual go for it
Excelente hermano
Dale gracias , acuerdate que son 2 filtro en la description tengo El otro link
@@nestorautorepair como se checa el nivel del aceite de la transmisión o como puedo saber s il le hace falta ?
Hola tiene que comprale la barilla
Do the transmission and engine use the same oil? Do they lead to the same place? It looks like the two oil input sites are different.
No they are totally different
The transmission uses Mopar CVTF+4. DO NOT use engine oil or automatic transmission fluid (ATF). It has to be CVT fluid (and not all CVT fluids will work, but the Mopar fluid is the OEM spec)
With that comment please do not ever do any work on your car!
No they don't , only some car use the transmission fluid as well for the power steering but never for the engine oil
😯
Hey, thank you for that. I found 2 little/medium size metal piece in the pan after draining all the oil. Is it bad ? I can send you a picture if
that would help. Thanks.
Sure send me a picture please

Where is the tcc solenoid located
Inside
Is these filters changed with each oil change ⁉️🤔
They recommend every 50,000 miles.
Where did you get your roof rack?

What fog lights are those??
Regular I just add a yellow film

Yes I did them both on a separate video
ok
You located in Colorado by chance 😅
Lol I'm in va
@nestorautorepair hello my jeep patriot 2014 top of transmission is not set up this way. It looks like this video link I am going to post below. Do you know where the cylinder cooler cartridge filter for the transmission is located in this model of jeep patriot? ruclips.net/video/o3pvRUQv2vU/видео.html
Well, the video was OK except for you didn’t even change the filter. The thing in the pan is not a filter. It’s just a screen. The filter is accessible from under the hood so you’re running clean fluid through a clean screen through a dirty filter. Not a good idea
