    Some corrections:
-There were more top Japanese players that competed for a spot in Worlds than I was aware of; it may be that Phantom Thief specializes more in Turf War than other modes, but they did beat out the likes of Melon, Dynamon, and Norishio in the Koshien event. Having now seen Day 1, I'm impressed by Phantom Thief and think they'll put up a pretty good fight against any of the other qualifiers.
-Due to a translation error that caused confusion about the structure of the tournament, I share incorrect information about how the Korean qualifiers worked. The only event taking place in Tokyo is the World Championship itself. I'm told, though I have not confirmed myself, that the Korean Nintendo RUclips channel does have footage of both the regional and final qualifiers.
-The player being highlighted in Unadon's segment is actually Typhon. Puyo was known to play Dapples, which is probably why the mistake was made in the original video, but in the new version that was released at the same time my video was, they correct the name, graphics, and voiceover.

I'm Korean, and I have watched all the way from the regional qualifiers to finals. And I NEED to correct some of the points mentioned in this video.
Regional tournaments were divided into central and southern regions, and 4 teams were picked in each, making a total of 8 teams that made to finals. And for the love of woomy, the finals were NOT held in Tokyo!! It was held in the Nintendo Live in Seoul. I know, bc I was there at the scene.
Also I could find the full recordings of regional and final tournaments in the official Korean Nintendo channel, but I don't blame anyone for this. The titles are in Korean, so it would be difficult for anyone to find it.

    • @sbpc

Melon, chocopero, Naegora and other top Japanese players actually played in the Splatoon Koshien 2023, but got eliminated at pretty earlier stage. I think it might because Koshien in Japan only play turf wars and I know some of those players just don't like playing turf wars. This is pretty weird in Japan as you need to win a nation-wide turf war only tournament to advance into World championship but the World championship tournament uses Anarchy rules.

  • @victoryiamjay

I cant help but see this negatively because Nintendo has proven they hate the comp scenes of their games they don't host. It just proves Nintendo is so out of touch with how their game is actually respected/played by their own top players even in a tournament their hosting.
