All other tutorial videos should take notes on this one! No annoying music, no rambling on about nothing for 10 minutes before actually getting to anything. Just straight to the point and informative. Thank you for this one!
Love this kind of visual instruction. It's not some blow hard telling us his epic "story" of the flat tire episode. No trying to be clever and funny. No distracting background music. Excellent job. This is all you need.
When I was a kid my father always helped me with this stuff. I actually never payed much attention on how he did it. Now when I've moved out I tried to do it myself for the first time. It was a big struggle with almost no tools, but at the end I did it. Now I'm proud of myself :D
As someone who has changed a few tires over the year and just wanted a quick refresher, I really appreciate the straightforward, to-the-point style of this video.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for making it a no nonsense straight to the point video & speeding up the redundant parts. Most video start with 5 minutes of yapping before they even get to the action.
For me, this was easier to understand than any other video I watched because of showing everything instead of telling. This guy has it down: essentials come first, and details come later. Thank you!
I see some people complain because of non verbal presentation but this is actually very good video. The only and important verbal comment was "rotation" of the tyre. Appreciate your time to demonstrate this!
Cathy Sorich Hi Cathy thanks for the feedback, I use the teaching method from the Army called (show, explaining, practice) and here it is without explanation!!
Very simple, straightforward and to the point. Thanks for the help! I managed to change a tube which I had never done in 50+ years of riding. Evidently moving to a cold climate must have weakened the stem and tube integrity because it was inflated and just fine 7 mos ago where I used to live. Thanks again Mazon99.
+Carol Holliday ...Hi Carol you are very welcome good job replacing the tube, thanks for sharing your experience and feedback, I was out driving in the woods today on my mountain bike and punctured the rear tire, replace the tube and continued my ride :)
The tip about getting more slack in the tire saved me! Thank you so much, I've wondered in the past couple of times why I've had so much trouble getting tires on!
Thanks a whole lot for making this video Mazon99. I have watched a number of other videos on how to change a tire and inner tube, but yours was by far means the best! You covered all of the details which really helped me out a lot.
thanks, helped me out a lot. wasn't quite sure what order to put the tube in and if it should be partially filled or not. now i am. everything went smooth. changed my road slicks back to mountain tires for winter after busting my ass several times in snow/slush/ice
Excellent video for someone who has never changed a tire before. Although, I would like to see how you re-mounted the tire back into the derailer so quickly! Thanks for the great vid.
Many thanks, can't believe how easy it was. But I put the wheel back and brake disc possibly catching, twanging noise, as the wheel turns? But only slight, maybe I knocked the disc. Thanks again
After I replace the inner tube on my own. I think something is missing and I drop by here only realise that, there still so many more for improvement! Thanks for sharing!
Mazon99 My experience: Walmart sold me a used tire of the wrong size in the wrong box so I returned it for a full refund. I then went to my local bike shop and they sold me a pair of correct tires, even better, upgraded from off road tires to street tires for only $5 more per tire. They even taught me how to clean my chain using only lubricant! Lesson learned, go to your local bike shop first!
Awesome vid! Zoomed in at important parts, fast forwarded the boring ones, and mute so I could focus on changing the tire instead of listening to bullshit. Thanks!
I don't do well with instructional videos without commentary. If I can't find one on youtube, I'll come back to this. I'm sure it's a good video, but I like to hear a person walking me through it.
Sweet vid! Probably saved me some money. I do have a question though... Can I use the same inner tube if I just want to change the tire to enhance traction...? Tnx again.
Superb - I was really apprehensive about approaching this job - especially handling the gears when removing and putting the wheel back. A really useful video - thanks for taking the time to help others with this very clear instruction video filled with great advice and tips.
Great stuff. Would never have know about the gear down or how to release the lever on the one side of the bike to get the tire off. Great job. Pumping the tube slightly I would never have thought of. the couple times I did a tire I had all kinds of problems getting the tube in right.
I love how all the bikes in you tube videos have little levers for this and that vs my old Huffy MB that has an ancient thing called a rusty nut instead. :)
Thanks this really helped me a lot replacing my old tire and tube. I even did the spit thing like you and it worked lol. 6000/10 much thanks much love!!!
Thanks for uploading the video, I had a flat tire today and I replaced it I checked 2 hours later and it was flat again I don't know what I did wrong, I'll keep this in mind.
MacheteLopez Hi MacheteLopez thanks for watching and sharing your experience, maybe you did not check the bike tire thoroughly to find the cause of the puncture!!
Now I don't know whether this is a good practice. Tinker Juarez had a method where he would put a bit of talcum powder inside the tire to prevent the tube from sticking to the tire or chafing under extreme riding conditions. My worry about this is, is there a risk that the tire and tube assembly would spin on the rim causing stem damage? Because then it's not slip resistant. What do you think of this method?. I see you have the presta valve stem with a stem lock nut.
Thanks for the video. Need to change my tubes. They just won't hold air anymore. Haven't rode my bike for years. I wish I could get tubeless, but I hear those are expensive and only for racing bikes.
Great vid. would like to ask if it is possible that tire center line is uneven when rolling? I patched 4 places a on a tire (holds great) but the tire cente is not at the center it seemes and when moving. It is possible it is due patching, or just because I have to center the tire on the rim even in that case? Thanks.

So, vid is straight forward. My first tire went on fine. The second doesn't look like the tire chord is seating properly into the rim near the innter tube valve. I can't seen to get it all the way down. New rims, tires and tubes. Suggestions?
+Jared Lokay.... Hi Jared If your valve has a nut, then you should wait to screw the nut on the valve until the tube and tires are properly in place, maybe that was the reason !!
+Mazon99 No, that was not it. the tire cord was not seating into the rim lip where the tube valve goes through the rim. I played around with it until it seated. There were no seen pinches or obstructions. I wasn't sure if it was a common issue with a simple technique to resolve, or if I should investigate a defective tire or rim.
+Jared Lokay Great that you had solved the issue with simple technique,, it happens sometimes it can be tricky when the tire gets mounted in the area where the valve goes through the rim..
Ive just gotten to my mountain bike after actually 5 years off (had a 2 & 4 year old after I getting married) and trying to get back into it. My back tire is flat and wont hold air overnight. Should I just do THAT tire or redo both? What is the going rate for a new tire/inner tube? What would a bike shop charge for that if I didnt have time to do it myself?..again 2 & 4 year old around the house.
Hi Stephan, you can have a look in the description field to this video there are some links to Amazon for Tire and Tube. It should be a quick task for a bike shop to do, so the charge should not be that high. Thanks for watching.
I was trying to put a 26" tube on my rim, intended for 26" tire, and there was like 3" of slack. I thought they had sent me an irregular tube, or even the wrong size rim, but the tube does compare to a different 26" I had, and the rim does compare to another rim I had (22.5"), I'm so weirded out... Aren't tubes suppose to fit snug on a rim, before putting on the tire? Heck, mine wont even stay on the rim, flat, or full of air, it just falls off. I wonder what's up with that. I'm now thinking of trying a 24" tube, but can't find one that's self sealing, and with presta valve.
mef1975 OK. I find it easier to put some air in the innertube , just enough to take form , still very soft ,put the tube on first . then put the tyre on then inflate tube. The easy way is what works for you.
All other tutorial videos should take notes on this one! No annoying music, no rambling on about nothing for 10 minutes before actually getting to anything. Just straight to the point and informative. Thank you for this one!
Karl Shewchuk Hi Karl thanks for watching and the positive feedback :)

elvijsk Hi elvijsk thanks for sharing your storie and watching my video, good job with the tire task, its never to late to learn new stuff/skills :)
Thank you! Perfect video, well shot, not someone rambling for 5 min like most vids, and straight to the point. Much appreciated..
Thanks Ben for your feedback..
As someone who has changed a few tires over the year and just wanted a quick refresher, I really appreciate the straightforward, to-the-point style of this video.

Thanks Andrew for the feedback and watching!
Only thing he missed for me was advising what gear to be in when popping the wheel off
I see some people complain because of non verbal presentation but this is actually very good video. The only and important verbal comment was "rotation" of the tyre. Appreciate your time to demonstrate this!
Hi Aleksander your welcome, thanks for the feedback I appreciate that, and thanks for watching!
You have given me the confidence to try myself, ipad in one hand, bike in the other ! Thank you.

Cathy Sorich Hi Cathy thanks for the feedback, I use the teaching method from the Army called (show, explaining, practice) and here it is without explanation!!
I'm about to change my front and back mtn bike tires for the first time. I think this video will help out quite a bit, thanks!
Maybe they should teach public schools this way. No talking, have the students guess what/why/how.
Dont be so lazy!
Excellent how-to vid. step by step made it easy. changed my MB tire in under 10 min. saved me a lengthy walk back to my car.
+Robert Anthony ..Hi Robert, I am glad that my video was helping you, thanks for positive words and watching!
a video is worth ...a thousand words! excellent job mate, simple and straight forward.
This one did it for me, hadn’t changed a bike tyre for years, thought the tyre was too big! Doing one side first made all the difference 🍻
You got it Mike, glad that the video could help you, thanks for watching!
Excellent. Right to the point. Very well shot. Video quality is excellent. No need for narration when the visuals tell you what you need to know.
Thanks Josh for the feedback..

Hi Sneaky...your welcome, I am glad that you like the video, thanks for watching and comments!
Slow down the replay of the vid, like I needed to, and see it in super slo-mo...
Thank you, excellent video. For once I wasn't distracted by mind-numbing narrative and discussion.
Hi Richard, I am glad to hear that you can use the video and the non narrative concept, thanks for feedback and watching.
Many thanks, can't believe how easy it was. But I put the wheel back and brake disc possibly catching, twanging noise, as the wheel turns? But only slight, maybe I knocked the disc. Thanks again
Brilliant!
Total newbie and got puncture on rear wheel on my first ride - this made it easy to deal with.
Thanks a lot!

John Glennon Hi John, your welcome and thanks for sharing your thoughts about about the job, who dares wins.
Is it possible to only change the spike tires, and not the inner tub? Cool video, very helpful!!! it's almost winter here.
hapesol12 Hi hapesol12, yes it is possible, I would personally replace the inner tube also, and thanks for watching!
Havent changed a tyre since i was 9. Im 30 and thanks to this vid i now can 😀

Thanks HitmonleeDeluxe, I'm glad that you find the video useful, hope your tire replacement went well :)
It went quite well, :D
Jeez, I've never seen anyone still hearing comments 6 years after publishing...
Good job.
Nice vid by the way
Yes time is running fast, thanks for the feedack and watching :)
Thanks for uploading the video, I had a flat tire today and I replaced it I checked 2 hours later and it was flat again I don't know what I did wrong, I'll keep this in mind.
MacheteLopez Hi MacheteLopez thanks for watching and sharing your experience, maybe you did not check the bike tire thoroughly to find the cause of the puncture!!
great video fella. im changing my rear tyre tonight. First time in 25 years ive had to do it so this is great :)
steve36207 Hi steve36207 good luck with your tire change mission, thanks for watching!
You made it look alot easier than I did lol
You have to make sure you put the chain back on the same gear/sprocket it comes off from right?
Hi Larry, that will be optimal but it is ok if the chain jump some gear/sprocket until it find the correct one, thanks for watching.
Two excellent points to pay attention to that I did not know. Thank you.
Hi R Min.. Your welcome and thanks for watching!
The tip at 5:52 was very helpful, exactly what I needed to do, thanks!
Hi lolobobiasos.. your welcome, thanks for watching :)

Now I don't know whether this is a good practice. My worry about this is, is there a risk that the tire and tube assembly would spin on the rim causing stem damage? Because then it's not slip resistant. What do you think of this method?. Nothing sexier than a set of brand new shiny black mountain bike tires... :)
:-)
Great vid. would like to ask if it is possible that tire center line is uneven when rolling? I patched 4 places a on a tire (holds great) but the tire cente is not at the center it seemes and when moving. It is possible it is due patching, or just because I have to center the tire on the rim even in that case? Thanks.
+WakizashiSabre Hi Waki, yes I think you have to center the tire on the rim more even, try do as I show in the video from 6:55 to 7:07
Mazon99 realized, i needed to pump the inner tube more (did not not have pump with measurement) It is ok now. :)
My front wheel was recently punctured is it OK if I just replaced the tubing? Not the exterior rubber.
Jessie Lalicon Hi Jessie, yes it is ok..
What is it you put on the tire when trying to squeeze the tire into the track, vaseline?
It is a little bit of water, thanks for stopping by.
Thank you very much for this very nice video! I am doing this tonight.
drtrance You are welcome drtrance, thanks for watching!
Does the tube have to be inflated as you put it in, or can you assemble it first and then pump it like you normally would?
Hi Chris..just pump a very small amount of air into the bicycle tube before mounting, I show it in the video 4:16
+Mazon99 yep, didnt have a pump at the time, but got it all figured out now. Your video really helped!
Thank you sooo much for the help. btw do you have to change the tire when changing the tube if it has a leak
Hi not at all patching or changing the inner tube only is fine if it has a leak, in this video I am also changing the tire because its worn out!
I saw u were using presta valve. Is it Presta valve is better use compare with Shrader?
Hi affan siru, I am very satisfied with using Presta valve, my experience is that they are very durable, I always buy inner tubes with Presta valve when it is about biking, road biking and mountain biking etc.

Mike Smith Hi Mike, MTB is a great sport for all people..

Your welcome OBH85, thanks for stopping by.
Never to old to learn thanx dude.

Thanks, wish me luck.
My bike shop told me to use my old tube though instead of a new one.

does it have to be the same valve needle where u pump the air
+deathstroke253.. Hi DS253 I do not think that it matters, but experiment with it to see what works!

mef1975 Hi mef1975 thanks for sharing your story, hope you have solved the problem, maybe this chart/link can help: www.bikecalc.com/wheel_size_math
mef1975 OK. I find it easier to put some air in the innertube , just enough to take form , still very soft ,put the tube on first . then put the tyre on then inflate tube. The easy way is what works for you.
this video needs to get a LIKE well done

any advice for people that don't have the levers?
Hi Owen thanks for watching, if you don’t use bicycle tire levers you risk damage of the tube etc.
Did you remove your rear brakes?
Villem UK Hi Villem, no it is not necessary !
