- In this video you will learn about creating a beep sound in Excel, including:
- Setting up some list data validation
- Demonstration how a deep sound is created when an option from the list is selected
- How the beep sound is created to sound when one option is selected
Excel is a very useful packaged and has many features that are used daily. Alongside the many features that are used, there is often a beep sound that many will recognise as it often sounds when something isn't right. This sound can often cause annoyance for many, but there is actually a way to make that sound occur for a reason which could be useful in spreadsheets. This video goes through how you are able to do this.

Trying to use excel alerts for stock prices - however sound keeps on playing - how can we limit sound to only play once and then disarm unless price goes below a certain level then re-arm. For example - Apple stock alert me when price is above 200 - so if Apple trades above 200 for the next 3 hours - I do not want to constantly hear the sound - but if price goes below 200 then rearm so sound will come on if it goes above 200 (and will play only once)
sir, What was the role of "As string" here?
I have several macros that run 30-90 seconds. I would like to add a beep when the macro is done running, rather than staring at the screen. Is there a way to do this?
Hi Bob. Did you find the RUclips video helpful?
@@JPLITTrainingLimited It's a little bit over-my-head, but I'm trying to figure it out. I was hoping I could just (1) open a new macro. (2) and paste some "beep code" at the end of it. That may be what you are showing me but I just haven't figured it out yet.
@@CletoClips I researched my video Bob and the simple macro code is in it. It is linked in an IF statement which I show. It may be too simple but perhaps replicate mine to start with then see how you go
@@JPLITTrainingLimited Thank You. The IF formula in the bar is too small to read. Would you place it in the comments? I tried enlarging the screen but it is still too blurry.
@@CletoClips Of course, the IF formula in the bar in the spreadsheet is as below:
=IF('Testing the Beep'!E1="UK",BeepMe(),"")
Hope this helps and let us know how you get on!
