I'm not a vegan (just cutting as much as i can on animal products) but I find it odd how non vegans criticise vegan parents so much, when probably they know very little about what it means to raise a child vegan. Also, minding one's business costs nothing. Love your channel, thank you for all the great recipes and food inspiration over the years. I learned so much.
The "be kind" generation is some of the most hateful people I've ever witnessed. I cannot believe that they attack YOUR content. I've been following you for over 7 years at this point and you have always came across as sweet. You're the main reason I had to visit Vietnam after having so many wonderful dishes made by using your recipes. You contribute more positive things than bad so do not allow these people to drag you down ever. Hopefully they grow out of the bullying and learn actual kindness instead.
You're my favorite vegan influencer by far. Food that looks amazing, recipes that are doable and you're so relatable. Makes me feel like I can do this life thing.
1. all of this food looks INCREDIBLE. 2. i'm glad you're coming to a place of boundaries and awareness around people's judgement/comments - it is absolutely ridiculous to me that people can be so harsh/seemingly thoughtless on the internet.
I grew up eating German and polish style food but eat mostly Vietnamese, Korean and Italian style food as an adult. It’s great to hear how you’re setting firm boundaries and gaining confidence in being a parent. ❤
thank you so much for sharing Lisa. I really appreciate your honesty and how true you are. I felt like I was listening to one of my friends discussing their feelings with me and I think we need to normalize sharings these kinds of feelings. Hope all is well with you and bean!
I think it's so important that you brought up social media and the toxicity around it, I too feel the same. People are so judgemental, when in reality, they should be putting in the time to evaluate themselves and their own lives, how people choose to live their lives is no one's business, and I dislike that people choose to be judgemental and critical of others, you made the right choice Lisa, all social media platforms are toxic and are becoming worse. Thank you for the delicious content 🙂 and your honesty and transparency. More people should talk about this. 💜
you are so correct about tiktok being anti-vegan add to that the snippy short comments, calling everyone and everything abusive and toxic and it becomes super hateful super fast. It so often their dogpiling has nothing to do with the video but rather their hatred of vegans in general. I'm really sorry you went through that
You’re so real and level-headed and I am so overjoyed to be able to see content that is sooooo authentic and shows realistic, healthy, and easy vegan meals! And love that you’re Canadian and mindful of only using things that I can also actually have a chance to find at my local grocery store haha
Tiktok is a new breed. For the most part people have more sense on RUclips. I totally feel you on the vegan partner comments. I went vegan first. My fiancé did express an interest in veganism before I switched but it took him longer. I still cooked meat for him at the beginning. But then I told him if he wants to eat meat he has to buy it and cook it himself. That really annoyed my family. Then when the pandemic hit he went vegan. He said it would just be easier since we were both home and we could just eat the same food. I’m three years in and he’s a 2.5 years and we still get comments that I forced him into it. Also we have a son we get the occasional “awww he will never be able to eat …”. It does confuse me that people think it’s controlling for a parent to make a child eat a vegan diet when literally parents decide what children eat everyday.
Thank you so much for sharing this story with us. Though I am not vegan myself, I can understand why you are and regardless whether you are or not, your food always looks delicious! I am Vietnamese and trying in consume less animal products, so seeing these meals always reminds me of my mother's cooking growing up. Now in terms of social media, I am also hesitant to start an Instagram or have more social media for the fears of the same things you described. However, I want to confirm with you that you are food inspiration and one of the most authentic youtubers that I continue to watch. You have so much support from me and everyone else here. Keep on keeping on! 😊
There will always be people who choose to deliberately misunderstand you, because they've made a prior emotional decision about whatever it is you're talking about and don't *want* to see it differently. I cannot imagine how hard it is to navigate and absorb that as a creator, open to literally anyone who cares to look - but I'm so glad that you do. I love your content and whatever you choose to share - I'm enjoying vicarious parenthood, and honestly by extension learning more about how to be a better person (always found tiny humans difficult to negotiate...)
I appreciate you sharing your experiences especially with TikTok and I’m glad the experiences made you stronger. You have a lot to offer and your videos make us happy and inspired. People who constantly troll other people tend to be miserable. After everything you’ve gone through you’ve always remain happy. Keep up the good work! 🎉
I came for a chatty food video, and I stayed for the honest and frank discussion. I really, really appreciate you sharing these things with your audience as they're important. I've spent the last year setting and reinforcing healthier boundaries including on social media, too - however I can't imagine having the level of social media attention and people "coming for you" that you have to deal with on a daily basis as a creator.
I am 21 and could not relate more. Social media in general skews our view of what interactions should be. I have been off tiktok for 3 years now and while I still get jabbed at by friends for not using the app, it makes me feel much better to not be on it. I respect you sharing this sentiment and support you in all your endeavors!
Miss your videos on here, but totally respect that your priorities are different now. Glad to see a new one either way! It’s also wild to me how people only ever throw out the “you’re forcing your diet/lifestyle onto your baby, let them choose” accusation when someone’s vegan. As though non vegans aren’t doing the same damn thing. People are just feeding their kids what they think is best for them, but vegans are the ones who are demonized. 😒
I couldn't get into tiktok. If I had spent more time on it and the algorithm learned what I liked, then maybe I would have gotten sucked in, but I'm glad I didn't. I feel like the amount of time I spend on social media is high enough already. I'm sorry you experienced what you did and I'm glad you set new boundaries for yourself. I started following you because you seemed genuine and practical, and I've enjoyed trying your recipes. Plenty of them have become staples for me. Take care and thanks for the chat!
I definitely think that TikTok is a scourge on modern social media lol, but I'm glad that you're able to move past the negative/wholly incorrect things that people say, you don't need all that external stress especially as a relatively new parent. Keep doing what's right for you, and being an excellent parent 💚
I find it funny (or stupid) that meat eaters (not all of them!) don't want to be judged for eating meat but don't hesitate to insult vegans for being vegan. Once I had a discussion with a guy who flew from the USA to Africa to hunt animals (I really don't remember if it was elephants or lions or whatever) and his explanation for doing so was "to feed his family". That's ridiculous! I don't know him or his family or more than five Americans in person but I'm pretty sure, non of them had lion steak for dinner in the past 30 years. To finally come to an end: I love all your recipes and videos!
Its crazy to me that people think that your food and values re veganism determine who you are as a person in is entirety. I think it says way more about them then it does about you. Love your videos, keep doing and being you.
I appreciate you so much! Navigating online spaces is not easy. Lots of black and white thinking and judgment that leads to all sorts of weird, toxic stuff. Also, it's sad that people don't really understand that eating meat is not actually neutral ... and that they would even think to judge your parenting! Ugh. It is so so lovely to see children being raised vegan and being able to learn about the world in a more complete, honest way. You're doing great all around.
Don’t read the comments, I watch a garden show and that is one thing she addressed in the beginning. She just said she doesn’t have time anymore to read it. Also, any comment is boosting your channel and TikTok. You are amazing! I’m new and very impressed ❤
The food looks great, and you gave me some ideas I want to try soon. I appreciated your chatty rambly video, and it sounds like you've come to a healthy place - nice job, all around! :)
People can be really mean and don't think about the impacts their comment have. Don't let them get to you, you're doing some lovely content here. You are honest and real, don't change 💖
Great to see you on you tube😀 So fun to hear Bean in the background ❤️ sorry people are so mean on social media. I will never understand why people attack people for their own lifestyle. Your vegan community loves and supports you, Eddie and Bean ❤️ Merry Christmas 🎄
Thank you for sharing. A lot of us struggle with social media boundaries and hearing others say what boundaries they set normalizes that for everyone. I deleted TikTok after a month, it was not healthy. Love your channel and all the recipes (and stories).
Loved hearing you chat! I just had you in the background while I was doing my design work :-). Will get to making Vietnamese banh mi these days; yours look so good. I think about joining YT sometimes, but then I think about how fragile my self-esteem is. I'm such a people-pleaser that I am bound to get ripped to shreds by what people say on the internet. Good for you for recognizing that it's best to limit your interactions and prioritizing your mental health! Take care of yourself! Looking forward to more chatting videos.
I am totally a people pleaser too, but becoming an online creator has fortified my ability to let things go 😂 it has become a really big learning experience over the years and I am so grateful for the community I’ve found here! Do you follow other designers on YT? I find most of the creators I follow have such wonderful communities 🥰
I have been following you for so long, must be close to a decade - when both you and I were still vegetarian even. Before you became the Viet Vegan? I remember your name change. I remember the blog in which you talked about your first date with Eddie. I remember the blog post where you first added a video! I remember always thinking you were so organized in your blog posts and then seeing the videos of you cooking and you were not organized at all, rambling all the time, and I loved it. It made me feel like I could cook as amazing things as you. This video is exemplary of why I keep returning to your channel. Just you cooking and talking over it - both about what you're doing and whatever is on your mind. You are by far my favourite vegan person on social media.
Thanks for doing a longer video and chatting. I love listening to you, no matter what you talk about. Your voice is always so soothing. I don't use tick tock, but I post some of my food on Twitter. Just pics of what it is, but I recently started getting anti vegan replies from people that don't follow me. I responded to a few, then just used that good old block button. You're doing great and Beanie always sounds happy in the background. ❤️❤️
I love this! I've been lookong for an easy homemade vegan pate to put in banh mi and your recipe here looks AMAZING. While tiktok may not be a great place for respectful/thoughtful comments, this commenter appreciates your videos a while heck of a lot!! ❤
Everything looks so delicious!! I wish we were neighbors. Those scrambled egggs look yummy and I want to try that sandwich (bahn mi?) looks so flavorful & healthy with all the veggies. The mushroom pâté is very interesting, I’ve never had anything like that. Want to try though. 😊🫶
Any person who is saying you should not raise your children as vegan are not informed about nutrition. A lot of people think feeding their family McDonald's or taco bell or any fast food is healthy but that is what is wrong with the American diet today. You are doing an amazing job. Don't let anyone say different.
Don’t be discouraged, there are a lot of reactive people and people who resist any chance to use critical thinking skills out there. And yes, there are lots of people who completely avoid eating veggies and any kind of fresh foods. Amazing but true. I appreciate what you’re doing.
Love your content & been watching your vids for 5+ years :) keep up all your good work, good recipes, positivity. Haters cannot get to you! Social media apps commenters usually are hateful now but you got plenty of silent supporters!
Coven is such an amazing place to go. Have you ever gone to kings vegetarian factory in Mississauga? They sell items that you would get a Zen gardens. They have the best vegan bacon you can also find the bacon at sobeys
Unfortunately I feel people tend to be ignorant towards things they don't understand. A lot of non-vegans don't understand we don't eat lawn clippings. I would really love to try the Bhan Mi sandwich but I'm highly allergic to mushrooms. Do you have any suggestions for a pate without mushrooms?
Thank you for sharing your story and your food with us. I’m sorry for the negativity you’ve experienced and appreciate that you continue to persevere 💕💕💕 🙏🙏
❤❤❤ I found your channel very early on in your RUclips career and love love love your content. You are also becoming such a role model about how to be on social media sustainability and setting boundaries! tYsM for being authentically you
everything you said about tiktok is exactly the reason why i've never hopped onto the tiktok wagon lol it sounds so toxic and overstimulating. i'm overwhelmed just hearing you talk about it, i can imagine how draining it must be for you :( i'm thinking it may be because most people who use it are very young and most likely very immature? i hope you don't take all those nasty comments to heart. you are a wonderful person that makes fire asian vegan food and you are a gift to the world and this community :)
I really admire you for setting your boundaries. It's one of those skills that need a lot of practice. As far as letting Beanie choose if they want to be vegan, I'm kinda under the impression that the kid is at that age where they'll stick anything in their mouth, food or not. Like, probably not a great parenting strategy to let them do that unrestricted.
Your meals look delicious! I am now craving greens, tofu scramble and green onions….oh, and ramen with puffy tofu.😄 Social media can sure be a difficult place to navigate. I feel bad for you and other having to deal with trolls and the like. No one needs that stress or negativity. I enjoy your YT channel & your Instagram. Stay well and safe, Lisa, Edward & Bean 🌸
Yoooo that vegan pate looks so good. I never bothered making it before because I just assumed it would be difficult and annoying but it looks pretty manageable. I still eat your tofu egg salad recipe a bunch. Hope you've been well!
I have been craving bahn mi lately and your pate looks so delicious! Making it this weekend 🥰 Vegan food is delicious and you are fantastic! Glad you are ignoring the haters ❤
Your video was suggested to me and I agree with you ... I don't use social media much because there are so many people that are nuts. I'm not vegan, but I love watching vegans cook ... it's interesting to see how creative people can be. Your tofu scramble looks just like eggs ... it's very interesting to me. Will check out your other videos.
I want to try the vegan Bahn Mi with the pate. I used to have a Vietnamese place nearby, but moved and now all I have is Thai, but they do have a Pho bowl you can get. I tried Bahn Xeo once and it was amazing. I had them cook it special order with tofu. I wish they would have also done some more mushrooms or something in it as well as it was a bit tofu heavy.
Rau muong is one of my favorite dishes that my grandma makes. 😋 I haven't had it in forever - gotta make some! And MAMA ramen is vegan??? 🤯 Hope you and/or Bean enjoyed all the tasty food!
I was just passing through, but what you said about people's comments on tiktok and questioning people's intelligence made me want to subscribe. Nowadays, I find that most people are not critical thinkers. They're just programmed to do what they're told and eat whatever they're told. I'm a vegan because I care about animals. I don't eat any living things. This recipe is incredible, as is your channel. Thank you for subscribing.
Keep in mind that a disproportionate amount of people on tiktok are literal children; it explains a lot of the lack of critical thinking and excessive vegan hate.
That tofu/Just Egg sandwich at the end looks so good. I’ll have to try that. 😀 You are perfectly right to set boundaries and not allow other people’s opinions and judgements negatively affect you. You’re very true to yourself which is why you are one of my favorite people I follow. I recently disagreed with you about calling sugar processed with bone char not vegan and your response was very reasonable and well thought out.
I want Banh Mi so bad now, I'd forgotten about mushroom pate. Yum. Your tiktok struggles make me grateful that the rubbish part of my job is just boring paperwork. I think that I would find having to be there incredibly challenging 💜
Thank you for your video. I'm watching while I eat breakfast I made at 5:30 am before work (beyond sausage, homemade hashbrowns, and tofu scramble). I'm sorry about your experience on TikTok. Thank you for the relaxing video.
Wow first time RUclips has recommended a Canadian for me I’m so happy I knew you were Canadian when you said the Veges are at Nations that’s not in the States but I’ve seen it in Hamilton ON
OH my goodness really people are that mean, that makes me so sad. I watch videos and if I don't like what I'm watching I switch off and watch something else. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. You look after yourself and don't worry about what anyone else says, it says a lot about them and not you.
You are a Nice person i dont get people sometimes they judge someone without knowing them and i dont get why being vegan is stupid in there eyes i like you your honest and Nice i like your vlogs and you do what you like its your life you make amazing food and your so creative i always get hungry when i see your vlogs
Man, I'm loving tiktok lately but I never hit that little comment button. As a consumer and not a creator I get to ignore that half altogether. I'm sorry you've run into nonsense there. I'm gonna go follow you there and make sure to add some non-toxic comments (which you obviously don't need to read but a little bit more presence on there from those of us who have been enjoying your content over here for years probably couldn't be a bad thing.) Also, combining tofu with just egg scramble is an act of genius. I can't wait to try that, omg.
I rarely comment on videos but you come across as such a lovely, well-rounded and critical (in a good way) person. Really appreciate you sharing your perspective on these topics as it is so important to hear, I just wish more people thought about things, people and whether they have any right to make such harsh judgments on other people's lives! Also, your food looks delicious, and just my kind of effort level haha
Thank you! I'm glad this chat resonated with so many people. I didn't really have a lot of critical thinking skills until I went to grad school and that completely rocked my world so I'm really thankful to be perceived as a critical person!
I think I'm older than your mom. I've seen many different kinds of parents. You're doing great. I'm glad you're not going to pay too much attention to negative people.
It's so easy for people to be judgemental and make assumptions, especially in social media. It seems like people are quick to assume the worst about a person or a situation and feel the need to bring others down. I'm glad it's made you more confident and self assured in your beliefs and values. Also, got a few tips from this video. I'm gonna keep an eye out for those mama noodles and try mixing in tofu with just egg next time. Thanks!
I think the ironic thing about total strangers accusing you of being emotionally manipulative, is that they were literally manipulating you emotionally.
Ignore just dust the negative thinking off your shoulders the hold no power or control over you your a high spiritual being having a human experience . Hold your head high and continue to do you. New subscriber love your videos they inspire me and everyone.
Oh Lisa God love you to the moon and back. What you choose to do for you and hour fami,y is total,y your business I love this video with your honest voice over, and to be honest I don't do lots of social media I am very conscious of whom I follow. You Eddie and Bean are who you are and that is no body's business but yours and your closest family and friends. Love your honesty. Agreed with what you shared. Love your recipes. I am a British/Caribbean descendent living in the UK. Yes some of my closest family don't understand my food choices and I am up against it at family dos.. I went whole food plant based for my health .. About 4 years ago and since then I have been looking into the Vegan ethos and totally agree with these principals for the planet I wish more people would have and show compassion and stop this specisism that we execute. I look forward to your videos and your chatty self. Lots of love to you and your family Lisa xx

Same here! ❤
I like it when people set up boundaries. That means they're strong independent people. My kind of persons.❤️
I still am working on being firm with them! Haha but I get better at it every day thats for sure 😂
You don't need Tiktok you have your community here ^^ 💜
Hahah tiktok is unfortunately the hand that feeds right now
I'm craving everything that you're making!!!!
1. all of this food looks INCREDIBLE. 2. i'm glad you're coming to a place of boundaries and awareness around people's judgement/comments - it is absolutely ridiculous to me that people can be so harsh/seemingly thoughtless on the internet.

I am so happy to hear that!

Vegan foods look great. Wanna try someday making.
That tofu/Just Egg hack is brilliant!
That egg scramble made me click! Great idea of adding tofu. The texture looks some much better as you said.
Loved hearing you chat! I just had you in the background while I was doing my design work :-). Will get to making Vietnamese banh mi these days; yours look so good.

i love the tofu scramble idea! and yes to boundaries on social media♥
I love all your recipes. I don’t go on tiktok for a lot of the reasons you’ve described. Also I prefer long form content anyway
I'm planning to try your pate recipe very soon!!! it looks AMAZING.
This is the first video of yours that I found and I really enjoyed the food and the insight into your online life. Happy eating!

That egg scramble looks amazing. I’m going to try that right now !
Ive seen people make pate with kidney beans instead!
@@Thevietvegan thank you for the suggestion! I will see what I can find! Love your videos!
I am now craving greens, tofu scramble and green onions….oh, and ramen with puffy tofu.😄
Social media can sure be a difficult place to navigate.
Making it this weekend 🥰
Vegan food is delicious and you are fantastic! Glad you are ignoring the haters ❤
YOU DO YOU GIRL!!!!
Ignore the comments on tiktok and please keep doing what makes you happy. We appreciate you x
Hope you and/or Bean enjoyed all the tasty food!
Thanks for Sharing! Stay Strong & Resilient!
Thanks for sharing Lisa ! Love your videos.
This was delightfully chatty. Loved it.
Try stir frying the rau muong with some fermented bean curd! It’s so good
My mom always made the fermented Bean curd into a dip for blanched greens!
@@Thevietvegan Whoa.. I need to try that. How did she make it?
I was just passing through, but what you said about people's comments on tiktok and questioning people's intelligence made me want to subscribe. Nowadays, I find that most people are not critical thinkers. They're just programmed to do what they're told and eat whatever they're told. I'm a vegan because I care about animals. I don't eat any living things. This recipe is incredible, as is your channel. Thank you for subscribing.
Very relaxing to watch. Thank you🙏🙂
Mushroom pate for Banh MI! Wow what a great idea.
Keep in mind that a disproportionate amount of people on tiktok are literal children; it explains a lot of the lack of critical thinking and excessive vegan hate.
Yeah there are def a lot of children there it is wild 😂
That tofu/Just Egg sandwich at the end looks so good. I’ll have to try that. 😀 You are perfectly right to set boundaries and not allow other people’s opinions and judgements negatively affect you. You’re very true to yourself which is why you are one of my favorite people I follow. I recently disagreed with you about calling sugar processed with bone char not vegan and your response was very reasonable and well thought out.
Haha you never responded so I had wondered how you took that interaction 😅
Funny I've been doing my scrambles the same way mixing just egg and tofu together... I do love the texture that way
i love using walnuts in pate and leeks instead of shallots too ^^
I love the Mama Pa Lo Duck flavor ramen :D
I want Banh Mi so bad now, I'd forgotten about mushroom pate. Yum.
Your tiktok struggles make me grateful that the rubbish part of my job is just boring paperwork. I think that I would find having to be there incredibly challenging 💜
Thank you for your video. I'm watching while I eat breakfast I made at 5:30 am before work (beyond sausage, homemade hashbrowns, and tofu scramble). I'm sorry about your experience on TikTok. Thank you for the relaxing video.
tik tok can be such a toxic place, I hate it so much. This video, on the other hand, I love
Love your videos 💘..
Wow first time RUclips has recommended a Canadian for me I’m so happy I knew you were Canadian when you said the Veges are at Nations that’s not in the States but I’ve seen it in Hamilton ON
I'm based in Hamilton :)
@@Thevietvegan oh my gosh I love you we should hang out teach how to RUclips I live in Brantford
Looooooved the video!! ❤
OH my goodness really people are that mean, that makes me so sad. I watch videos and if I don't like what I'm watching I switch off and watch something else. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. You look after yourself and don't worry about what anyone else says, it says a lot about them and not you.
If you just want color you can use dark soy sauce😊
It’s so sad how some people can be. All the food you fixed looked really good.
You are a Nice person i dont get people sometimes they judge someone without knowing them and i dont get why being vegan is stupid in there eyes i like you your honest and Nice i like your vlogs and you do what you like its your life you make amazing food and your so creative i always get hungry when i see your vlogs
The patè looks sooo good
Still undecive about what I should cook but would totally love to have a plate of everything you cooked up in the video. ^^
Mixing the Just egg with tofu is BIG BRAIN! I will have to do this.
Awesome video, thanks for sharing 😊
It's so easy for people to be judgemental and make assumptions, especially in social media. It seems like people are quick to assume the worst about a person or a situation and feel the need to bring others down. I'm glad it's made you more confident and self assured in your beliefs and values.
Also, got a few tips from this video. I'm gonna keep an eye out for those mama noodles and try mixing in tofu with just egg next time. Thanks!
I think the ironic thing about total strangers accusing you of being emotionally manipulative, is that they were literally manipulating you emotionally.
🤗🤗🤗❤️
Ignore just dust the negative thinking off your shoulders the hold no power or control over you your a high spiritual being having a human experience . Hold your head high and continue to do you. New subscriber love your videos they inspire me and everyone.
♥️
Oh Lisa God love you to the moon and back. What you choose to do for you and hour fami,y is total,y your business
I love this video with your honest voice over, and to be honest I don't do lots of social media I am very conscious of whom I follow.
