As kids we all hated this doll stories, we prefered just 2D animation... but now as an adult I appreciate it far more & love all the effort and details that were put into this!
to anyone curious, the opening is in Danish and apparently reads as follows. *The Beauty and The Beast* We are in another time in another country. In a small lonely house, three sisters wait for their father to return home from the big city. If all has gone as he promised, he will come riding with many precious gifts. The youngest of the tree sisters has asked only for a beautiful rose - a modest with one would think...
I like the animation myself, but noway I am not complaining this to Emma Watson! And this Beauty and the beast is going by the original fairytale. Not Disney!!! Don't know why everyone always comparing an actress to some Cartoon. It's Childish
For the most part, the animation and music did a solid job explaining everything without needing any dialogue. The biggest highlights for me were the Beast looking at his drawing of Belle/Beauty and missing her, and when the sisters threateningly locked Belle/Beauty in the house.
Brian Levine I think the reason that the Beast was aggressive when confronting the father, but showed kindness when confronting Belle, was because when the father was being careless in plucking the rose from the garden, and never realized that not only is it bad manners for doing so, but it ruins its value in the beauty for its staying power, and therefore, he was scared of the Beast’s behavior; but when Belle showed up, the Beast apologized when she was frightened, and even tried to explain why he reacted accordingly.
Wow, I think I found one of the best Beauty and the Beast adaptations. I adored all the emotions that the puppets expressed, even though there were no words spoken! Props to all the animators for that. I also loved how the relationship between Beauty and the Beast blossoms: all their interactions were so cute! If only I knew who was behind this stop-motion production :c Gah, I just love it!! Edit: ok so I was a little dumb, I didn't see the credits at the end of the film. Silly of me. Thanks Romana Burianova for the beautiful short film!
I'm glad I checked this out. It's beautifully done and speaks louder with it's actions. Also who else was scared that the jealous sisters were gonna steal Beauty's ring?
@@jojo-es3ks, so was I. Luckily, Beauty drew her hand back. But how will she get back to the beast? You saw the beast crying after looking at Beauty’s drawing. That shows that he loves her and misses her. He’ll think that Beauty will never come back and then he’ll starve himself to death.
I found this at my local library as a young teen and watched it quite a fair bit till we moved away to another town. I've often wanted to find this again and now I have. To think all it took was a simple search on youtube itself. Using a search engine gave me the disney version.
Thank you very much for uploading this lovely piece of animation. I'm Danish and I had no idea it existed. A humble wish, you would think.

Its a masterpeace! Its very close to the real story! And the figures look great. It must have taken ages too make this. Words are not needed because actions and music tell the tale.
The father and Beauty wear late 1700s clothes. The Beast is dressed in the fashion of the 16th century (1500s). That means he has been under a spell for a couple of centuries.
Man, I love the way stop-motion looks...between this and the Harryhausen 'Little Red Riding Hood', I like them both:) But OH, how I WISH Phelous would decide to review this version so he can insert the dialogue himself;):)
Could anybody please help me find the title of a stop-motion short film from (probably) the 90s? It was about a man who had to undergo eye surgery. During his recovery, his vision was not very good. There was a nurse who helped him complete his recovery, but due to his still weak vision, he perceived her as a fairy. Once he fully recovered, he could not recognize the nurse who had helped him before, but he missed the fairy he believed had helped him. At the end of the short, the man realizes that the fairy was actually the nurse, and they fall in love. There is a scene where the man walks by the park and sees a couple of lovers kissing, which makes him feel sad an lonely.
I get the minimalism of forgoing dialogue to make the actions speak louder, but why make the music and sound effects so quiet subdued they may as well be absent too?
It's Danish. “We are in another time in another land. In a small lonely house, three sisters wait for their father to return from the big town. jo jo I don’t regret watching it either. I suppose it’s too artsy for his taste, but he did let us know about it, so it evens it out. Also, for those who don’t know about the whole “plucking the rose from the garden” thing, it’s disrespectful to pluck roses from public property; however, it is acceptable to get a rose from a greenhouse instead.
