Came for the Gaelic; stayed for the philosophy, art, and fashion. 🤩🥃
I am starting to think you will be living in that yurt all winter :) hope it has a good woodburner! Thanks for the ongoing lessons. Hope you are aware how much the growing duolingo brigade on social media rave about your teaching!
Go Jason go
Aw, snog. Nice to hear that they support me. 🙂 The woodstove certainly makes this much more comfortable when winter comes!
"Because of grammar" is all the explanation I need.
The bob ross of Scottish Gaelic - you rock man!
Tapadh leat, a charaid! 🙂
Firstly, thank you for your videos ! Got a request, if you take request 🤗. Can you plz make a video for Christmas? I would love to use Christmas words / phrases this year. Just a request ♥️
Tapadh leat 😁☕
I’m so glad I found your channel. Thank you for videos and humor!
Lol, with the extra legs it made me think....Chan eil an cat air an taigh, ach sin e cat damhan-allaidh air an taigh, agus sin cunnartach! :P And yes, the breaks help....working (short term) memory lasts about one minute, so breaks with repitition like you do allows it to be encoded into long term with more connections during that minute, so is easier to recall. Hence my remembering dangerous from a different video. The motions add another data point to the memory too, so more data points equals easier remembering. That is what I love about your videos and why they stick! Now, to fix my atrocious Gàidhlig spelling....:P
I love your videos so much!
I don't know if you take video suggestions, but I thought maybe a video about Gaelic proverbs and sayings? Could be fun! 😘
Great stuff, made a cup of tea while you were drawing the cat.
Having a relaxing Saturday night, learning something about Gaelic, and drinking margaritas, "too many legs there", on the cat nearly slew me. Thanks for the lessons!
The Bob Ross of Gaelic. ❤ Awesome videos!
Tapadh leat! Thanks for watching. 🙂
Thanks for your lesson. I was trying to find how Scottish gaelic sounds. Great job. Best regards from Poland!
My pleasure, thank you for watching! Come back any time! 🙂
Jason, thanks for all you do for the language.
Thank you Jason, I really enjoy your lessons. My cat loved this one... he thought you were talking about him 😊
You inspired me ! Good job, Jonas ! Glè mhath !!
Great to hear, Willy. I'm glad you're here - welcome! 😀
I love your lessons and I fell in love with Gaelic :) Greetings from Poland.
Sending greetings from Maine. 🙂Welcome! I'm happy you're here. Always nice to meet another lover of Gaelic. Enjoy your week!
I love you bro, you make this so fun 😂
Thanks very much - I'm glad you're enjoying it! Come back any time! 🙂
Hi, do you have any videos where you only speak gaelic ( like a podcast about any topic), i think that would be awesome , like a serie of short podcast or something like that
Hello Jason ! How are you?
I have got a question for you ! I am wondering how do you make the difference between « it is-tha e » and « he is- tha e » I started Gaelic a week ago and I study it with your videos but also with Duolingo where I just learned « e » as « he ».
Thank you already ! And have a good Day !
Hello Thaïs! Nice to see you this morning. 🙂The rest of the sentence/conversation will usually have clues whether it's about "him" or "it".
Tapadh leat Thaïs for asking the question as I am also learning on Duolingo. Agus, tapadh leat Jason for answering as well as the videos you do. Love from England 🏴 ❤
Hell, this has just gone up a gear!!!😂😂😂
How do you know when to use mòr or mhòr?
Hey Jason, greetings from the Isle of Lewis. So when you say "seo cat gle' mhor" how do you know if you are saying 'this is a big cat' or THIS cat is big (as opposed to THAT cat). Where does 'tha' fit in if you assume 'is' with 'seo'? Sorry if that's confusing...thanks.
Hey there, Happy Traveller. Feasar math! I hope all is well on Lewis these days.
If you're starting with "Seo...," then you're saying "This is..." If you're talking about *this* thing or *that* thing, the seo/sin will come after the thing you're talking about: "Tha an cat SEO glè mhòr" or "Tha an taigh SIN brèagha."
Does that clarify things a bit? 🙂
@@GaelicwithJason Yes, so I guess the 'is' is implied in Gaidhlig where in English, the 'is' is right out there. Tapadh leat! Yes, Lewis is great at the moment though we are headed into the 'fun' winter season with little daylight, lots of rain, and the ever-present wind. Still, would rather be here than anywhere! Have a happy Thanksgiving!
Can, an t-iasc be the nominative and an èisg be the accusative?
You’re beautiful and an awesome instructor
I’m under standing cat house fish and big now let’s see what I retain latter because all I ever knew was the American version of keeping quiet.
Tha mi a' smaointinn gur a duine gorach a bh' annad, an latha siud....
when you say 'tha cat gle mhor air an taigh mhor' does it mean a very big cat, the very big cat or very big cat is on the big house?
Hiya Sophie! I hope your day is going well. 🙂
Tha cat glè mhòr air an taigh mhòr = A very big cat is on the very big house
Gaelic doesn't have a wee word for 'a', ie: 'a cat'. So, we're really just saying 'cat very big'. If it was *the very big cat*, we'd add a form of 'the': AN cat glè mhòr.
Does that clarify things?
Ok, I'm getting confused with the "Tha iasg" and the "Tha an t-iasg" sentences. Is it the difference between "the fish" or "a fish"?
Yes, that's it exactly! Glè mhath! 😀 "Tha an t-iasg..." = "The fish is..." & "Tha iasg..." = "a fish is..."
I have a hard time reading the red lettering. Chan eil mi suilean math.
Need a word for vision.....
Thanks for the feedback, Gina. Would making the red brighter help you see it better?
@@GaelicwithJason possibly, yes. I turn the phone to the side to make it larger, but it won’t let me zoom in any more than that. On the up side, I do watch the videos repeatedly as a result.
Repetition is good! 🙂 I wonder if watching on a laptop would be better on your eyes?
Jonas, I think there's a mistake on your board : watch the first sentence (...taigh mòr) and the last sentence (...taigh mHòr).
Well spotted - but it's not a mistake. Those two sentences are different grammatical situations. 🙂
Talking about dinosaurs etc. is self-indulgent and is just a waste of class time. Stick to everyday Gaelic.
