An old buddy of mine is a union Sheet Metal worker. He always used to say, “A grinder and paint will make you the welder you ain’t.” Try to take that to heart. Also, if you’re ever feeling bad about your welds, remember what would have passed factory inspections. These were never pristine coming off the line
Another great video ,amazing stuff and you must have no fear at all the way you just go and cut. I would love to see more of the other stuff on customer cars especially beetles.
Hey there, new to the channel and just watched several vids back to back. Great to see an honest YT car fanatic that admits if he's kinda shit at some jobs, but happy enough to tackle them. Greets from England
Monetizing was the 2nd good reason to just cut down a bit on the F-bombs. Wish you had shown how the roof welding went on that last corner. I would like to see the work on the other cars too. Great Video!!
There is a EZ way to put the rag top in ,,//////// Cut 4" around the rag top , ,,,, on the rag top clip... in from the 4" is a reg / measure that reg from side to side and front to back, and take those measure's and cut the roof of the bug ,,, the rag top goes in the car and up in its place ,,,,, when you are happy ,, take it out. sand every thing , and with " WEST EPOXY" and 404 powder , Glue the rog top up inside the bug , a little finger putty work on top of bug , and one will never know ..., it can never fly off ,// the 4" rim all the way around the rag top clip is in side of roof not going any where ,
Great job on fitting that rag top. Really came out good. Will you be doing the finish body work in all the areas where you’ve patched in new metal? As a subscriber, really appreciate you toning down the language. God Bless and keep the videos coming
I don’t think so. I want the chassis, interior, and engine bay to be as clean as possible while the body looks a mess but is still solid. It will annoy purists and I live for that 😂 thanks for watching!
Enjoying the videos. Please keep them coming! What is the plan with this car? Full restoration? Road-storation? Will it get body work and paint after metal work?
Thanks for watching! I don’t think restoration is the right word, I don’t know if road-storation is either. I’m making it solid and ratty; probably not going to grind any of the exterior welds; definitely not getting finish work or paint. I’d like to do the interior nice and make the engine clean and pretty. Drop spindles up front and disc brakes but not much else. Of course, 36hp.
Did the rarity of the oval cause you to hesitate to cut the roof off or was it more important to you to have the rag top? Just curious of the thought process. Thanks.
No hesitation at all. I’ve always wanted a 36hp ragtop Oval. The roof was already kinda messed up. I had the opportunity to grab a complete ragtop clip so I made the thing I wanted.
@Wicked Werks Post as many videos as you like. It's only going to help your channel at the end of the day. Make videos of the for sale cars and place them on your ads on samba and market place.
looks to me like your building a car around a gas cap !....lol.....it would probably been cheaper to buy a car already done when you factor in shop time
I have a 62 rag in about the same shape lots of fun.
Perfect car for a rag top conversion that roof was really rough. not many oval rag projects out there so do what you gotta do.
Yes please, show some of the other work. I think every video has made me smile, so please keep them coming.
Will do, thanks for watching! Working on the Fiat now. Hoping to have a video together on that soon. Brake parts for the ‘60 arrived yesterday too!
admire your nerves...enjoy your outside the box thinking and repair....great werk...!
Dont be ashamed of your welds just grind them flat.👍👍

the oval roof and the later model roofs have a different shape. they were stamped on dirfferent molds. but you can make it work.
Another great video ,amazing stuff and you must have no fear at all the way you just go and cut.

Thanks for watching! Got some pretty cars lined up, some need more than others. Will definitely film, thank you!

Bleep the bleep bleep and bleep. Well done boys. Haha
Fuckin hell lol. Wouldn't hurt to show some of the other stuff you get up to.

That orange is just poking your eys😂
Now you can grind the welds down and do the light test to see if there are any pin holes that need to be filled.
I could!…but I won’t 😂 it’s being left the way it is intentionally
@@wickedwerks I hope it doesn't leak, might wint to seam seal the inside.
@@jonpeters2700 it absolutely will leak. It’s going to be a sunshine only car
I would like to watch the brake conversion on the VW.
Parts arrived yesterday! Will film it soon. Thanks for watching!
Yeah, show us some work from the clean chassis.
It’s weird hearing less swearing. Fuckin hate it mate. 😂😂
I’m not a fucking fan either man 😂
You get a like and subscribe from this guy because you are going to swear less

I thought my 53 was worse. But I think we are about the same.
Was that a type 3 notch back in the back around? 🤔
Yes sir. Project that fall through. That one and two others will probably be for sale soon.

Please dont get any sparks in your beard. Sometimes welding can be like that. im still a novice so for hard stuff i get one of my brothers to help.
Wait, so you aren’t going to repaint it orange? 😂
Absolutely not 😂
@@wickedwerks oh come on man…. Who doesn’t want to look like a blob of Velveeta cheese rolling down the road? 😂😆
@@VWJawbreaker me 😂 we’ve got a ‘71 Mini in the group that’s Velveeta colored. It suits that car much better than my dumpster Oval!
looks to me like your building a car around a gas cap !....lol.....it would probably been cheaper to buy a car already done when you factor in shop time
Not nearly as fun though 😂
FILM OTHER STUFF......the other stuff I film pays more in the long run than the VW stuff.
