It's such great writing letting us compare captured Adora in ep.2 and captured Catra here. One befriends her captors and the other annoys the hell out of them. Cat vs. Golden retriever.
3:23 catching up with these reactions and wanted to say multiple personalities/multiple personality disorder is actually an outdated term for DID (dissociative identity disorder)! so you might want to steer clear of that type of language (unless I missed something somewhere and you have DID and were genuinely referring to alters etc.). love the reactions 💖!
This is a rough episode cause it focuses so much on swift wind and glimmer possibly my two least favorite characters in this show. What saves it is kidnapped catra going full cat mode to outsmart her captors and of course more Entrapta being delightful. Next episode though is when we get to the actually good parts of this show.
See, this is where I split from you two. You were annoyed by Catra and enjoying Swiftwind. On the other hand, I enjoyed Catra and cannot stand Swiftwind. For me, Swiftwind falls into that annoying class of talking mascot characters who don't add anything to the show. Usually they take the form of animals or robots. You could argue that He-Man has Cringer/Battlecat, but they don't use him like a bouncy mascot. He is exactly what he should be, He-Man's pet/steed. He didn't talk. Swiftwind speaking adds nothing to the adventure and is almost exclusively used for comic relief. Even in this episode, while they act like he was important to She-Ra and her powers, this was a minor B-plot and could have been done all the same without a talking animal. Swiftwind breaks the mood of any scene he's in and butts into conversations annoyingly. We already have a comic relief character in Seahawk and Entrapta and, to some extent, Kyle. Other characters have their comedy/lighthearted moments too, so Swiftwind butting in just is irritating. He's a trope. He just annoys the other characters and talks down to them despite having only had intellect beyond a normal horse's for maybe a couple months in universe. He just has an irritating personality. Dumb mascot characters.
So glad I’m all caught up, not to mention I’ve just binge watched all of their Steven Universe reactions
