My wife saw TJ live in Las Vegas in 1973. It was an amazing show because he sang for 2 hours and over 30 some songs fully throated at the end as it was in the beginning. What a showman. And when it was over, women from the audience were throwing their panties and bras up onto the stage and some flowers too.

This is from Tom’s prime time TV show back in the early 70’s. He was an awesome entertainer. And if anyone passed around herpes, it was another Brit, Richard Dawson, the original host of Family Feud. He kissed EVERY female contestant on the lips! Technically, Tom wasn’t British…he was Welsh…and had quite a reputation of “carrying a BIG stick”, if you know what I mean. He actually named it "Wendell"...meaning wanderer or seeker.
You "have not seen this level of groupie-ism before" .. ☺.. couple reasons why Brad. 1) ya weren't around. Born in the wrong decade. You and Lex would have liked growing up in the 70's, and 2) except for the Jackson 5 and Osmond Brothers, the singers were ALL ADULTS back then. We didn't think twice or bat an eye when we witnessed Tom Jones, Elvis or any sexy male singer back then kiss the women in the audience. Hell! I've seen Neil Diamond kiss the women at a few LIVE shows. No one was forced. Knowing they were going to be in the audience, the two sisters probably day dreamed and fantasized all day about kissing Tom. They were the ones that grabbed and pulled him in. It was (and should still be) a perfectly natural (and legal) thing to do.
Today .. most of the singers are underage .. 12, 13, 14 or 15 y/o. No one seems surprised, shocked or even the slightest disgusted when adult female fans throw themselves at these very young 'boy singers' tho. Something very wrong with this picture.

This was how it was, people kissed one another, and it was perfectly alright!! I was around when people loved one another, hugging, laughing, giving each other an innocent kiss of affection was what was normal back then. Now, people are fearful of others, are super aloof, and the real tenderness we felt and gave to others has died away. People today are distant, and have to keep their feelings in check! 😒 I CAN'T BEGIN TO IMAGINE what it must feel like inside of the human soul to instantly stop and evaluate what is appropriate! The person you know yourself to be inside, can and will not respond or react to what society expects of our outwardly behavior towards others!
