I don't know if he's talking about their King of the Ring match in 2002 but I just watched that match yesterday and Kurt legit cut a promo backstage at KotR before the match laying into the interviewer for saying that people were saying that this is a fight between two real American heroes. It looked sort of like a shoot promo but I think it was more of a Kayfabe breaking promo because he said that he was the one who legit won an Olympic medal for his country, meanwhile he said that Hulk Hogan is an American Hero because Vince told him he was. If Vince had told him to be a Zoo keeper Hogan would be a zoo keeper today. It really surprised me for a promo in that day and age where Kayfabe was faithfully kept, Kurt was giving a little peek behind the curtain.
Hogan always wanted control because ever since Vince made him the top guy in the 80s to compete against Slick Ric his ego just inflated from there on out

Now imagine the training of an Olympic champion level athlete.
