    Just picked this up over the weekend. I was lucky enough to get the camouflage edition. Comes with 2 bands, one metal, one material.
    It's quirky and pretty cool. Feels like a tank, and my initial impression is favorable. Hope is gives me years of faithful service.

      Very good rundown, the conclusion is, I bought this watch mostly for the design. It was under 500 euros, but without the Pelican style box, only the bracelet version have this box. I don't care about the box. The rubber band is very confortable. The operation of the watch is simple, only buttons, no screwdown crown like on the mudmasters. The standard lugs are great, maybe I will order a bracelet someday. There is no compass altimeter or other functions, radio controlled atomic time, so if you want functions, the mudmaster is the way to go. 👍👍👍👍

    Ditch the compass, the useless knurling, and the colored bezel and you have the best Breitling Aerospace alternative out there.

    Very good video, I like the design, it was the main reason that makes me to buy it. It was just under 500 euros, but without the Pelican style box, the bracelet version have this box and it's more expensive. But this urethane band is more confortable in the cold weather here in the mountains. It's an interesting watch, but if you want more functionality, ABC sensors and multiband 6, casio is better, the mudmasters or even the protrek series. This citizen is easy to operate, the screwdown crown is not really a must to have feature, considering most of the g-shocks use buttons only and the 200m water resistance is still there. Anyway this citizen is a full metal case construction, sapphire crystal, and comparing with my full metal g-shock GMW-B5000D-1ER, the price is not that exagerated.

    Hey Jim can you say something about the U822’s accuracy of time keeping. Citizen says in the manual it’s +-15 sec/month. I have an old Citizen Calibre 8700 with the same rating but is actually accurate to under -3 seconds a month. I like accurate non Atomic/satellite watches.

    In my book the strict non-radio/non-sync nature of this watch is preferable, but this is a matter of use and taste. What I am looking forward is you checking the toughness of the more delicate parts like the buttons of the watch under really rough circumstances.
    BTW when I noticed you turning you eyes on a Citizen and knowing your work profile I thought of the Promaster Tough or the Ecozilla - two watches to consider for future tests maybe.
    Greetings from Germany.

    got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on MAMACOO 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. Way more comfortable than my Longines Hydroconquest 41 mm.

    It’s probably a no, but can you set the world time to track 2 different zones on the digital display, and then have the analog hands show a 3rd time zone? Just wondering if it can track 3 time zones at once.

    This watch looks cool, but the chronograph is so goofy. I understand the MIP display not doing real-time fractional seconds, but why can't it just display the running time in H:M:S on the display like every other digital timer? You can only see the running time on those hard-to-read sub-dials? Why have the display say "running" when it could just display the RUNNING time down to the second? The fractional seconds could just be added to the readout when you split or stop.

    Watch looks fantastic, but it gets major zonks from me for the essentially pointless compass bezel and lack of synch-ability... for a modern watch in the >$400 category, the inability to synch via radio, GPS or BT will keep this one off my short-list unless I find some stupidly cheap Black Friday deal.
    PS - typo in the title "Promas *t* er"

  • @termit520
    @termit520 3 месяца назад +2

    Well, it doesn't looks so rugged to me, it absolutely doesn't looks rugged and no nonsense toolish like Promaster diving Citizen, definitely doesn't looks like any serious field watch, it looks exactly how Citizen wanted to look like, like a modern Citizen sports watch. Especially it doesn't looks like a 600-700 USD watch, that was just a good bait for a fishes (customers) from Citizen. Instead of that pointless inner rotating ''wannabe compass'' bezel, they could put nothing, just make a bigger dial, or non-rotating bezel with the city codes, and make it radio controlled. (maybe they will, together with some stupid price tag)
    Okay Jim, atomic time sync isn't the most important thing for Citizen, by my experience Citizen is really accurate, more than enough.
    I got absolutely no trouble with clarity or visibility on my more than 40 years old LCD G shocks, was it a big problem for Citizen to put the positive LCD with a bigger numbers, they know how to do it for sure.....oh yeah, I forgot, it would be cheaper, and that's not the point. Those letters at the right subdial are really microscopic....Citizen could put some digi screen instead, but it would be too similar to Promaster Sky (I'm thinking about buying of some old Promaster Sky, those things are completely crazy).
    I'm pretty sure that almost any better Casio Edifice would destroy that Citizen, in a terms of the value for the money (it's couple of times cheaper), in terms of performance too (it's not weaker in any aspect, it can be even better, made of carbon completely). But luckily Citizen also doesn't lose the value which is good. Tutu is in my opinion a big missed chance from Citizen to make exceptional watch, they can do it better, no doubt.
    good video

    I think this watch is an embarrassment to Citizen.
    Pointless compass ring, fake crown, screw down button guards that don't, no Automic timekeeping, no Bluetooth.
    It's pretty, no doubt about that but seriously, that's all. Oh, and the hideous price, c'mon Citizen.
    I got sucked in but luckily, PayPal screwed up the transaction and the buy never went through.
    End result........ PayPal has been cancelled, my interest in the Promaster has evaporated and I moved on to the Casio GA-B2100 which I'm enjoying immensely. So light I barely feel it on my wrist and the modification I can make on this watch blows my mind. I'll keep it as is for now.....honestly, it's kind of perfect as is.
    GOODBYE CITIZEN.......BYE, BYE!

    It's disappointing at this price-point that there's no multi-band 6, no GPS, no Bluetooth, and NO sensors of any kind. Any one (or combination) of those would increase the benefit to cost ratio.
    The overall appearance, MIPS display, and solar power are good, though. The barcodes buried in the diagnostic screens are intriguing.

    • @tonyrc49
      @tonyrc49 Месяц назад

      Why would anyone want gps, Bluetooth, sensors on a watch like this. If one wants a watch with those items, get a smart watch. This watch is not designed to "stay connected".

    • @NoNonsense316
      @NoNonsense316 Месяц назад +2

      @tonyrc49 I have watches that have GPS, Bluetooth, or Atomic time sync, or combination thereof - none of them smart watches. Just a more convenient and faster way to get the right time onto the watch.
      That's not to say that I don't enjoy my mechanical and non-connected watches.
      It's just that this new "Land" edition is a quartz watch that seems to be screaming for something more than what it has at its $600+ price point.
      I have a 5-sensor G-Shock (analog/digital like this watch) with Bluetooth that didn't cost nearly what this Land does. For a "Land" watch, it seems to me that at a digital compass would be an obvious feature. A barometer to help predict incoming weather would also be useful on a "Land" watch.
      What it does have, though, is good-looking lume.
