It’s possible that the ECU has an engine tune that has effectively removed the post cat sensor from the map. The heater in the post cat sensor isn’t used.

Quite possibly.... I'll find out soon when I get this over back on.

Hey Craig, I was watching with baited breath, I had my manifold on a bench tried saving the sensor, but the manifold flexi was knackered I had to bin it all in the end.
I huffed puffed and everything in between I couldn't get it out lol. New manifold and sensor sorted, you are completely right got to run and see how loud it is with an exhaust ... Good work look forward to part 2 .

I had a MG TF160 a few years ago now. I loved it but had major headaches with the engine. Sold it but still miss it. You working on yours isn't making it easy on me to not go buy another. Well done and keep the content coming.

I have had an MGF VVC since 2011 and still love it. Some jobs are a bit fiddly but I never worry about reliability to be honest. Just bit of maintenance here bit more there and all is good. The k series one cooling system is fully sorted is a reliable lump and I also drive a rover 216 coupe with a k series daily.

I have done this exact same thing but I was supplied a O2 sensor with no plug. I spliced on to this my old plug but there are 2 white wires and there is no way to determine which was which. Unfortunately, I mixed them up which blew a main fuse on the engine bay fuse box. The car just wouldn't start and took me ages to realise the fuse had blown as it still turned over. Just thought I would mention this in case yours is the same.

Thanks buddy... I'll do some more research to see if I can find out which way around it needs to be....

Someone made a right mess of that o2 sensor. Good call on taking off the down pipe. Hope it didn't take too long to come to that conclusion.

You have the same vocabulary as I do when working under the car. Regarding the O2 sensor with the wrong connector, I think you may have bought the wrong O2 sensor, you bought the one for an earlier F/TF. The pictures of the later sensor on Rimmer's website show the connector that is on the O2 sensor you took off the car.

That's interesting, I'll have a look at the earlier ones.

Hi my jaw hit the floor looking under your car. Do you know that you are missing the large square structural bolt on plate underneath your car? This is a major structural component!!
