    Some of the coolest sounding drum room mics are SM58s (used for scratch vocals) pointed away from the drums.

    Great songs to demonstrate these techniques on, and I appreciate how Brian fully explains both the technical aspects and the audible results. I remember hearing about a similar "crotch mic" trick in relation to Moses Schneider, and I always love the tight, aggressive but super fat sound it brings.

    I think widening the room mic would have sounded better than doing the weird stereo micro delays on the left and right sides, that effect just sounds like goofy digital nonsense. It does sound passable in the mix though 🤷
