As Bulgarian every time I hear this, I begin to sing the lyrics from our old anthem; "Shumu Maritsa okyrvena plache duvica luto ranena..." Btw. Wenn din soldate was very popular song in Bulgaria around that time and this is why we used the melody. The lyrics however was changed few times. Actually the original version of it was literally the poem "Slunce-Zornica" (Sun rising). But the most famous version was wrote by Ivan Vazov after the end of the first Balkan war. Describing the bravery of the bulgarian soldiers.
