You man are a life saver also welcome back
@@airwolfpete1234 thank you 😁.
@@MilitaryVehicleReviews I’ve been here for a while this is probably my fav how much was it for the whole ship
I Think it's Felix the Cat on the F-14
Is that 1:200 Aircraft Carrier but it doesn't have a helicopter but it looks pretty cool!
Fun fact: The 2 horns that come off the bow (very front) are known as bridle arrestors. Before nose gear launch, a cable would wrap around the catapult shuttle and attach to hooks on the airplane. The horns kept the Navy from losing the cable into the ocean. By the time USS Theodore Roosevelt was built, the Navy no longer used this bridle launch system. Previous carriers all had their horns removed in the shipyard during overhaul. All except USS Enterprise. The commanding officer refused to allow them to be removed so that USS Enterprise would remain the longest aircraft carrier in the fleet.
I worked ay NP News Ship Building fo 18 years and was on Big E on her last refueling. Great lady she will be missed but not forgotten. Also know as the Star Ship!
...a.f.a.i.k. the french navy still uses the cable-start-system...!
@Packless1 I'm not sure about that. I have worked with French Super Etendards on carriers without bridle arrestors, and I don't specifically remember disposable bridles. However, a quick image search does show them attached to bridles. Clemenceau does not have bridle arrestors. You've really peeked my curiosity.
@@Packless1 nope. Catobar like the USN. The Rafale cam also operate from US carriers
Thank you for the info! 👍
It is impressive to see the level of detail that the upper part of the aircraft carrier has. And the F-14 Tom Cat, not to mention. Thanks for sharing the second part of the video.
Agreed. For sure! Stay tuned for more videos soon 😁
VF-31 Tomcatters uses Felix the Cat as the logo it one of the oldest squadrons in the Navy!
Felix the Cat was a popular cartoon character invented in 1919. The Felix the Cat logo and name was applied to VF-3, a fighter squadron originally assigned to Saratoga (CV-3). Saratoga was a Lexington class carrier and one of the US Navy's first ones, and commissioned in 1927. It was later expended in one of the atomic bomb tests shortly after WWII. In the 1950's, the Saratoga name was assigned to a Forrestal class carrier with the hull number of (CVA-60, later CV-60).
I was unaware that each one made up the whole deck. That’s pretty cool I’ll have to watch part 1. Btw it’s nothing to make the hull of the ship. I wonder if someone will do that
to be honest this is almost clickbait this thing is so astonishingly cheesy... just the top deck?
Hell, way back in the 1980s the GI Joe aircraft carrier was longer and was the full ship, not just the top deck... which looks dumb since it is not a monitor type of ship (that rides that low in the water). That old toy easily beats this collection... not even a comparison.
The Tomcater's logo is Felix the Cat. A well known cartoon character from early to mid 20th century. Felix and his magic bag of tricks. I believe Dreamworks/NBC Universal owns him these days. There is some reference to him in Universal parks. He even had 2 movies.
They numbered them incorrectly: to make it so you don't have to lift UP the previous piece, you start at the back then you just drop the next section in place. Either that or put the tabs and the slots on the opposite ends.
So a couple things. The main superstructure is not called the admiral's bridge. It's called the superstructure or the island. The admirals bridge is just one of the levels in it. Also vf32 is not the flying swordsman it is the fighting swordsman. But they do open as well which is a really good feature and so and they have the hooks implemented on the back and also for the tomcaters the cat's name is Felix the cat. And they were actually the last tomcat squadron to deploy in 2006. Vf32 fighting swordsman Gypsy roll was attached to my aircraft carrier the USS Harry s Truman.
I agree, I just called it what they call if someone wanted to look it up. Good info 👍
@@MilitaryVehicleReviews In 1954, Otto Messmer retired from the Felix daily newspaper strips, and his assistant Joe Oriolo (the co-creator of Casper the Friendly Ghost) took over. Oriolo struck a deal with Felix's new owner to begin a new series of Felix cartoons for television. Oriolo starred Felix in 260 television cartoons produced by Paramount Cartoon Studios, and distributed by Trans-Lux. The made for TV Felix the Cat cartoons either went on the air on October 2, 1958 about 65 years ago or in 1959. It is unknown when his show had its final episode.
The show did away with Felix's previous supporting cast and introduced many new characters. These characters were performed by voice actor Jack Mercer. Oriolo's plots revolve around the unsuccessful attempts of the antagonists to steal Felix's Magic Bag, though in an unusual twist, these antagonists are occasionally depicted as Felix's friends as well. While the cartoons were a ratings success, critics have dismissed them as paling in comparison to the earlier Sullivan-Messmer works. Oriolo aimed the cartoons at children. The series used limited animation (owing to a limited budget) and simplistic storylines.[5]
I agree with vf 31 being Felix the cat I was ship's company v1 flightdeck on the Lincoln in 03-07 so I remember the vf 31 spaces before they were handed over to vfa 2 bounty hunters it was an F18 Foxtrot squadron 2 seater super hornets Rhinos that transitioned from the 14 deltas while we we also had the 137 kestrels which I think were echos the 151 vigilantes which were legacy hornets (babies) but yeah I appreciate the detail for the padeyes on the deck but yeah the admirals bridge is the island but it's kind of missing not the crash shack but the tower behind the island and tilly plus it'd be kind of awesome for the barricade to be raised for emergency recovery
VF-31 and VF-213 were both embarked aboard Roosevelt for the final Tomcat deployment in 2005 - 2006. VF-31 sunset the Tomcat on 4 October 2006.
This is the cool! I served on the Stennis in V2 division and with VF-211 Checkmates and VF-31 Tomcatters Im looking into this myself. 6:42 Thats Felix! Felix the cat is from the 1930's cartoon and he is serving up some destruction I served with VF-31's 'Tomcat's Last pac' meaning their last Westpac tour, but was during the Pacific war games known as RIMPAC 2004. That was on my ship, the USS Stennis, CVN-74. One gripe, they did the Desert cat and not VF-211 Checkmates? BOO! lol
i also see that the admirals bridge has the CIWS gun. the attention to detail is insane
Agreed 👍
Suddenly I miss the USS Enterprise CVN-65
Me too.
Keel has been laid for CVN-80, the new U.S.S. Enterprise. Building from the steel from cvn-65 and the fittings of CV-6. 5 more years till she is sailing the world's oceans.
I just hope that she doesn't suffer from the same fate as the first two did.
That's Felix the cat ...VFA 31 call sign Felix still active duty since 1935....I was aboard the USS Ranger CV 61
I would have recommended you had started from the aft and go towards the bow, would have made slotting the deck together easier
They didn't take it far enough, in my opinion. The packaging is nice, but the die-cast planes are clearly toy. Just having the deck tells me it was designed for the Japanese market, where most homes are small, and things cannot be permanently displayed. It is meant to be set up on the floor for temporary play, and put away the rest of the time.
Although the underside of the deck plates do not appear to have anything molded for future pieces, that that would make it more appealing (to me). Hangar deck pieces could be paired with addition aircraft; ideally different planes such as Hornets, Intruders, Vikings, etc.Even more crazy-cool would be for a one-piece bottom hull, and with a motor kit, making the whole ship into an R/C model.
6:51 It's Felix the Cat with a bomb. It's a Tomcat that drops bombs, so they called it a Bombcat. I think it was a B or D model.
All of the Tomcats could drop bombs, they were just not as good at it as other aircraft until the LANTIRN pod was installerd. VF-31 was my first squadron, flying As, but they later transitioned to the D model and made the last cruiser with their namesake aircraft. They are now flying F/A-18E Hornets.
Tomcatters was the very last squadron to come back from deployment. Last of the cats baby!
That's so cool, i love all the versions of the F-14.
I’ve been looking for an economical 1:200 scale Aircraft carrier model for 40 years. This is incredible!
I really like the scale hex screws on the undersides of the F-14's.
That's real attention to detail right there...
Ya… I wish they would have hid those.
They skipped some iconic squadrons for the land based, single special version of Vandy 1 and the last Iranian fighter we kept due to the Shah's deposition. Could have chosen the Red Rippers, Freelancers, Renegades, Starfighters, Screaming Eagles, Be-Devilers, Diamondbacks, Sluggers, Black Knights, Satan's Kittens, Red Lightnings, Checkmates, or Pukin Dogs (Black Lions). Even the training or reserve squadrons would have been better than those two. I would rather the two squadrons that served on the Big E with each modex and buno along with the other aircraft, equipment and crew that would go along with them. Of course you would need the wing sweep fixed so they could be parked closer as no more than half a squadrons AC would likely be staged on the flight deck for practical purposes. Cool idea, but not the greatest for authenticity. Bugs on the bow and cats on the stern with the buffs in between would be a great display piece.
Like wow! Tis' great and thanks for sharing. Missed your vids, been a while. Keep it coming! Keep safe and God bless
Watched the first part and enjoyed both, thank you for posting. Great to see the finished collection 👍🏻😁
Awesome, thanks for watching! Appreciate it 👍.
Now this would make a nice piece of wall art in any office or man cave ,very cool thanks for sharing
Radom algorithm hit here - that was pretty neat! I think I'm glad it's in 1:200 and not either 1:100 or 1:285/1:300. With 1:100 I'd need it for my Macross toys and with 1:285 I'd need it for my wargaming, but at this scale I can just enjoy a neat video and save some money. :)
I love the Apache video because it has guns and rockets also it has textures
Great video!!
Looks awesome!!
Thank you! 👍
Great Part Is that you can still great 1/200 Models to go with a great and accesible display
This huge but I wish it was a full ship then just the top deck. That would have been epic.
they have them...think they run a about 10k or more.
Excellent!
This would go absolutely amazingly with Hogan's M-Series 1/200 jets. F/A-18s, EA-6Bs, and S-3Bs to spice up the deck!
It’s Felix the Cat holding a Bomb on the last F-14 you shared. Pretty cool
Very impressive. Next, you should try to build a hull to go under the deck. :)
That would look awesome 👍
This is seriously cool! The Tomcat with the red tail and the cat with the bomb - the cat is Felix the Cat, from a really old cartoon.
Pretty awesome
In 1/72 scale this Enterprise is 14 feet long.
Thank you. I am highly considering 3D modeling the hull for this ship deck. I was just wondering if the company has, or will be doing that though.
Amazing 🤯🤯🤯
If it was maybe even 2/3 of the price id consider it but at $420 thats a bit pricey for the scale that you will have to custom modify to get the lower deck of the carrier
Yeah at that rate I'd buy individual planes and a sheet of 13mm 1/2" MDF to make a deck with a piano hinge across the beam for stowage. Individual elevators. And a hull with Marines smoking on the hangar deck fantail.
Love the fact it was the CVN-65 USS Enterprise represented
Hey it's nice to watch new videos
Amazing
Wow that thing is epic! I’ve actually seen a 1/72 model of the USS Enterprise at a museum
Wow!!! Neat!!!👍😁
Thanks for watching 👍
That a.super buy😁👍
Thank you for showing this. I had no idea that they had something like this. I served in VF-41 on its last F-14A deployment on the USS Enterprise and I plan on picking this bad boy up. There are some nitpicks on the VF-41 markings but overall it is awesome!
Your welcome. Thank you for serving! Thats awesome, I would have loved to be on the Enterprise! Thank you for watching 👍
I don't have experience with the f14 squadron, but when I was in the navy, I was a part of VS-31 and we were called the Topcats. We had a similar logo with a mouse in the water with a periscope to signify the squadrons history as an anti-submarine squadron. Possible the f14 tomcat were in that same flight group and had a similar history. VS-31 was decommissioned in 2008.
The tomcat logo is a cartoon character named Felix the Cat. It was created in 1919. The popularity of Felix died out in, I think the late 50's or early 60's. There is an auto dealership in downtown LA that still uses the Felix character in its signage and ads.
Thank you, good info 👍
Hey, I am English ancf wasn't born till the mid 60's and I loved Felix the Cat, a great cartoon series. The VFA-31 have used this Bombcat logo for decades and across numerous aircraft.
Good to see a grownup playing with his grown-up toys.
I love your vids.
That's sweet
Great product. I wonder if they have a coplementary set with the other aircrafts of the 80s: A-6E, EA-6B, A-7E, E-2C, S-3 and the SeaKing helo, that would be perfect!
Felix the cat? Old school cartoon your grandparents used to watch.
I got a couple mliltary force toys also like the ship nice textures
Felix the cat logo. Old time cartoon character. Again awesome.
It’s like the biggest jigsaw puzzle ever….👍
Amazing I wonder if they have this in 1:18
That's cool i want to get one of my ship the USS SUMTER.
Awesome, you're right, painting really lined up and so are decks, real decks have sections so you don't even notice them on model collection. I have sent second letter to Santa promising his favorite beer and a vegetable spread for rain deer. Fingers crossed :-) outstanding video.
Haha thank you!
I was on the the Eisenhower! It would be cool to build a model of that. CVN69! I like Ike!
Omg...thats is so freak cool...why they not have that when I was a kid..
Hi im 3 hours lae but i enjoyed and im amazed how good there mold it with the nose it is always or mostly funky so nice!
The cat on the aircraft tail is Felix, an early cartoon animation character.
The cartoon cat is FELIX THE CAT an old cartoon rival to Mickey Mouse from the 1930s/1940s. Popular with WW2 airmen appeared on a number of WW2 warbirds as did mickey mouse and others.
The cat is Felix the Cat. An old cartoon from the 60s I believe.
Can you do the b-17 unboxing/prevewi
Just ordered one.
While it isn't the same scale as a uss Flagg it's close enough for my gi joe tigerhawks/ ghost hawk.
that's Felix The Cat. i used to watch that cartoon when i was a child. he has a bag of tricks. he uses to handle any situation. he's a wonderful, wonderful cat.
I Think it's Felix the Cat on the Both Tails of the F-14
Gotta say, if they were not so much, id love to buy these. Really solid for Die Cast Jets and the carrier deck looks great, but its a little pricey for what boils down to well made Matchbox Jets. / Play set. Close to 400 usd for those who wondering.
The cartoon cat was known as "Felix the Cat". Created in early 1900s but became big around the 1930s.
Great fun and it's way better than some who blow money on dope and end up in rehab! Some guys I knew made fun of me building plastic model kits of aircraft while they were too stoned !
I served on the Big E for four years. Strange seeing it here
Devin Minar is correct. It is the superstructure or the island. The most common of the 2 is the island. I did 2 cruises on the Enterprise. 1982--83 and 1984. Our Tomcat squadrons were VF114 Aardvarks and VF213 Black Lions which seem to be missing from this models collection. The VF213 that is. I personally liked the Aardvark livery.
I love the size of this. Although I do wish it had gone deeper into the carrier. A hanger deck below would have been awesome. I like that they gave all the squadron logos. But I wish they would have been spread out over a few different plane types. An E2C Hawkeye, FA-18 Hornets and Super Hornets, an A-6 Intruder, E-A6B, etc. To give you this wonderful display space it really begs for more aircraft variety.
...try to get them as *.stl files, in case you have a 3d-printer...!
...b.t.w...the 2.nd F-14 in front of the bridge seems to have iranian* (!) camo-pattern...!
* Iran was the only contry - beside the US - that used - and (in limited numbers) still uses the Tomcat...!
I agree plus the price is way too steep
Thats to cool. . . With that much detaiI I couldn't stop with just fighters. I'd want a little "deck accessory kit" - a tug/tractor with a ordinance trailor, Hawkeye AWACS and a chopper. A Sea Hawk, Sea Stallion or maybe an old Sea King.
Those would be awesome to add!
Maybe a special edition A4 Skyhawk on fire with an Ensign McCain figure.
Where is the hull? Try building. Trumpeter 1/200 scale carrier. I’m on my forth. Laura’s Battleship Row 😉
I love the Persian cat and the jet black one
Me too!
The black tomcat was from Air Test and Evaluation squadron (VX) 4. It was known as Vandy 1.
The Tomcatters logo is Felix the Cat. I don't know for sure but it probably has something to do with Felix being very lucky in the cartoons and films. He never gave up until his job was done and he could do almost anything thanks to his magic carpet bag.
6:50 thats Felix the Cat. Its an old cartoon from the silent era.
Felix was created the same time as the m1919 in well 1919! Lol its still used today for the cat food adverts felix and it was still popular cartoon in the 90s for me, I used to watch it everyday after school in the 90s! I'm 35 now so surprised you don't know felix the cat! The smurfs were on after it and bodger and Badger that was brilliant 😆 🤣 😂
Hi my friend MVR!
I thought it had a lower deck. But anyway it is very cool ship model.
Do they have the USS Ranger CV61 ?
I would mount it on the wall for wall art 🎨
You have the Island structure on backwards
The GI Joe carrier was larger. I know I had to assemble then stick on all the decals for all that shit for my lil' brother. He's now my younger brother, I'm the runt in the family.
tomcatters logo is Felix the Cat. its al old cartoon... felix the cat has also been used for other F-14 patches or parafanolia
Wow!!!! I wish I can get it too
As has been noted VF-31 was a legacy squadron so their tail art was originally used on older fighter aircraft. However, Felix got an extra tail when they moved to the F-14s because the aircraft has twin tails.
Good info, thanks!
What website do we go to purchase it
Nobody scratch built a hull for this series? Maybe add some working elevators?
That would be awesome!
What's the size of the island aircrafr carrier?
Big fan of you
Thank you! Appreciate you watching 👍🙏
Wait till Trumpeter or Merit or others put out a full kit. It will cost the same and won't look like a toy. (Obviously with a lot more modelling skills which is most of the enjoyment)
the logo with the cat cartoon goes to WW 2. Felix the cat Squadron.
Can u do a warthog plsss
Wish there was like a bottom piece but what is the price for all pieces in total
The cat is Felix he is a old cartoon
Probably should have started at the stern.
The Tomcatters (Felix the Cat).
Damn it’s huge r they expensive?
Would be awesome for macross too
