Cat is "Felix, the Cat." This was a black and white cartoon from the 1920's. The squadron insignia goes back to the 1930s, when the cartoon was popular and the early days is US naval aviation, meaning that VF-31 is one of the oldest squadrons in the United States Navy.
Thats what I was thinking just wasn’t sure. Thanks for the info and for watching!
@@MilitaryVehicleReviews You're welcome! I came across this set in Aliexpress just yesterday! Very cool set!
@@RmasterD its awesome, you can buy directly from Forces of Valor using the link in my video description as well. They ship pretty fast too.
Actually the Tophatters are the Navy’s oldest squadron
Wasn’t the twin tailed tomcat also Named Felix? Notice, he has his holster on his left hip.
So I hope they put out the lower hull of the ship to complete it! 1/200 scale aircraft carrier would be epic!
CVN-65, USS Enterprise. Which is this carrier is named after CV-6 USS Enterprise. USS Enterprise CV-6 was a WWII Carrier used in Battle of Midway. Midway was a battle between the Imperial Japanese Navy and United States Navy. During, that battle the US won by sinking 4 of the Japanese Carriers Kaga, Akgai, Hiryu and Soryu. It was a turning point in the Pacific War. Enterprise was most honorable and respected ship in the fleet. Won a lot of medals. Survived many air raids. At first, the Americans didn’t know Midway was the target all they know was a code name is “AF” code breakers crack the code and found out Midway Island was the target. At first, they though was invasion off the Alaskan Islands
Let me explain the difference between CV and CVN
CV- stand for Carrier Diesel (gas, Oil) powered
CVN- Stand for Carrier Nuclear It is powered by power generator or nuclear reactors.
Good info, thank you!
"The Miss Molly in question was Molly Snead, long time friend of the ship’s namesake, Congressman Carl Vinson, and the nurse who cared for his wife during her long illness. The Miss Molly scheme had previously been applied to a C-1 Trader carrier-onboard-delivery (COD) aircraft, but with the C-1’s retirement from active service in 1988, VF-111 chose to adopt the scheme and keep the tribute alive". One of the VF-111 crews at the time (1989) was an artist and painted the artwork himself.
Superb large scale aircraft carrier model from Forces of Valor!
The VF-1 scheme has always been my favorite. This is a pretty awesome set
Agreed. 👍
Great video bro!!
Can't wait for the assembly video!!!
Thank you! Appreciate you watching.
Great video! Looks like a great living room wall mount.
That deck when complete would make a very good starting point to make an entire RC hull based off of it.
For sure!
That's awesome!!!🤩
I love watching these types of video's and stuff like that. Love the content bro! cant wait for part 2
Thank you! I appreciate it. 👍
Me too!!! And especially love making such videos as well😁
Vf32 we were on the Enterprise in 1999 transitioned to Super Hornets in 2006.
Truly enjoyed the video man! Keep up the great work, looking forward to seein more 1:18 Vehicle Unboxings and reviews!
Thank you, appreciate it! Part #2 will be posted soon and more 1:18 reviews as well- JSI 1:18 Huey gunship and 1:18 JSI Me-262!
This is a perfect set. Thanks for show.
Damn I was half expecting it to be an entire aircraft carrier deck and hull if you know what I mean but I’m impressed by the detail on this carrier set.
This is really cool.
My favorite squadron art? VF-84 Jolly Rogers!😃
I’ve never seen this brand before. Can’t wait to see the final product. I’ve been wanting a detailed model deck like this for the past 40 years.
Heres the link: www.forcesofvalor.com/product_grid.php?cid1=10&cid2=20&sid=7
3:45 i instantly recognised that livery from War thunder
Very cool unboxing and me being a scale modeler I like that it wouldn't take much if you wanted to light the whole Island assembly !👍
The truth is that I am surprised by the level of detail of the Enterprise CV 65 aircraft carrier and not to mention the F-14 Tom Cat I hope to see soon to see the second part of how the aircraft carrier looks finished. Congratulations on the video, I appreciate it.
Thank you! I agree, especially the paint. Part #2 coming soon.
Good to have you back!
Thank you, preciate it! 👍
That's really cool
OMG, what an awesome compilation honoring all the famous Squadrons and amazing details especially the details on the F14's. There is an old saying, " you can tell the men from the boys by the price of their toys" SO, hold my beer while I write Santa Claus :-)
As for VF31 "Felix" the cat carrying the bomb, RmasterD posted the answer to your question on origin of the mascot, however, an interesting factoid for ya, two famous people flew with this Squadron - Charles Lindbergh and Ed " Butch" O'Hare. O'Hare was the son of Al Capone's lawyer and also awarded the Medal of Honor, and O'Hare airport is named after him. There is a replica of his F4F hanging in the main entrance. As for favorite, they are all incredible, in fact I want them now I want them delivered and stand by for more orders :-) I do like the Top Hatters paint scheme.. Thanks for sharing, Standing by for video 2.
So true! Haha Santa Came early for me with this set. Good info! 👍 Video #2 coming soon.
Holy crap. I remember first hearing about Forces of Valor in a Sears Christmas catalogue in the early 2000's. Havent heard or seen them since except for insane resellers. Didnt know they still existed!
You could have a lot of fun weathering the flight deck. You could go nuts with the detailing....
That would look good!
Vf103 took the jolly Rodger after 84 decommissioned
omg wooww i neeed this 😍❤️✈️✈️
I was on the Independence early to mid 1980's. My buddy Ken was on the Enterprise. That looks like a really cool set. It was really cool being on a Carrier. I mostly worked in CIC. Night Flight Ops was something I always thought was the coolest. Just about every pilot was cool. We worked 8 hours on, 8 hours off 24/7 365.
That sounds like a cool experience, thank your for serving!
My favorite looking squadron is the f14 tophatters because that is a beautiful light blue color .
Its a good looking paint job for sure!
the jolly Roger is my favorite especially on the F/A 18 super hornet
There's a lot of CAG birds on this deck. And that Island is crying out for some clear perspex on the bridge windows and some nice LED work.
100% would look awesome with LED’s! 👍
Very good.aircraft,compliments
Hello man. Ive been watching you maybe when you only have 1.5k or 1.4k subs im glad you're channel is growing fast
Thank you for sticking with me! I appreciate you watching my videos. Stoked on how this channel is growing 👍
you could paint the details to detail the carrier even more. it is a very good kit.
This kit is amazing. You can definitely bring it to life and add more details by using acrylic paints and a airbrush
Totally agree!
This is one of your coolest videos!! My first scale model being a kid, was one of the ghost riders, then came one of the tomcats, the third was an aardvark the fourth (being a teenager) was a sundowner and the last and my favorite was one of the jolly rogers (being an adult hehe)....but in this case the coolest for me is the top hatter...nice color!!
For people who don’t know what those flaps on carrier is for. It is a Catapult. It is how they launch every aircraft. When activated, it produces wind. Aircrafts need high wind to able to take off. If it is not for those catapult. The planes will not be able to take off and end up crashing.
Umm no you are wrong. Those "flaps" are jbd's. JET BLAST DEFLECTOR. They do not produce wind, the deflect the jet blast so it is not straight line blowing down the deck rolling the crew. The catapult is attached to a launch bar on the nose landing gear and pulls the aircraft up to speed. The only wind generated is the carrier is driven into the wind at speed to generate enough lift along with the planes being shot off by the cats. 2 cruises to the Med an Persian Gulf, 1 I spent on CVN-65 Enterprise.
felix the cat with a bomb, cool
You may already know this, but the F-14 "Persian cat" is Iranian. Surprising they would include this one in the set.
I was in VF-31 as an AO when we had the red tails but when I joined the squadron it was the AC the NK designation The cat with the bomb is Felix the cat from an old cartoon..I actually stenciled it on the back of my work jacket when I was TAD in corrosion control (ships company hated the airdales :p )...first cruise was on the John F. Kennedy CV 67 BTW VF-31 was the last squadron to fly F-14's before they were retired. NAS Oceana VA. Beach
Thats awesome! Good info on Felix 👍
I like this set it would be even better if they had separate additional stuff like flight deck crew or tractors
I can truly appreciate this Aircraft Carrier. I was in the Marine Corps. I have seen a lot of aircraft carriers in the time I was in. Were you in the Military?
The TomCatters features Felix The Cat bowling a bomb for the strike....
Awesome, good info! Thank you 👍
Felix the cat you never heard of it lol they used the old cartoon for the felix cat food today! I used to watch it as a kid after school everyday when it was on tv in the 90s! It was created in 1919 but was still on the go in the 90s! You'll probably find a 90s version of it on here no doubt I'm 35 year old so you can't be to far off it lol
Scale it up for G.I.Joe Classified series and add more build a base sets.
All of them are awesome and i want to buy the whole set but my favorite is definitely the evaluator and my least is the persian cat
Same.. Evaluator looks good! Heres the link: www.forcesofvalor.com/product_grid.php?cid1=10&cid2=20&sid=7
Felix the Cat is widely considered the world's first animated film star. He first appeared as 'Master Tom' in an animated short titled Feline Follies, released by Paramount Studios on 9 November 1919, a full nine years before Mickey Mouse's debut in Disney's Steamboat Willie (1928).
"The logo is Felix the cat"! and he's about to deliver destruction "!! Also goes back to WW2 nose art on planes
Some of these squadrons may be decommissioned, so the shade of grey may reflect the era the aircraft flew. The paint schemes are also the nuts aircraft, which typically have the CAG's name as the pilot. This is a pretty cool set of aircraft.
Good info… its a good set. Definitely recommend.
@@MilitaryVehicleReviews if you want to see some cool paint schemes, search Naval Aviation Centennial paint schemes. The F/A-18 aircraft were painted in colors reminiscent of different time periods. At NAS Oceana, VA Beach, just driving by on the flightline, it was like walking back through time, seeing modern aircraft painted like their WWII and Vietnam predecessors. You can see on these F-14 aircraft what some of the paint jobs might have looked like.
About half of those squadrons are gone; VF-1, VF-84, VF-114, VF-142, & VX-4.
@@bobastu It wasn't just the F-18s that got the special CONA schemes. VAQ-129 EA-6B, VX-30 S-3, HSM-41 MH-60R, several T-45s & a T-6, & aTH-67 all from training command, a C-12, & a P-3C subhunter.
@Get 2 Da Choppa very very cool. I was a sub guy so P-3 are my nemesis. Have you seen the EA-6B replacement, the F-18 Growlers. I like that multiple platforms are now represented by a similar profile. Makes detection and elimination harder for the baddies.
This is a great idea! You have the option of buying the entire set or you can purchase a set. There is alos the option of buying to add on. A great idea! Thank you for the video!
Agreed. Your welcome, thanks for watching!
hahahaha loved the thumbnail, nice aircraft carrier tho, it's so freaking big.
😂 thanks!
all of them
He is back and we should welcome him back. o7
ok....this is extreme ..awesome
Agreed! 👍
I can see alot of the 1.72 aircraft modellers buying this for the flight deck alone and the tower to display there own builds on it and get it all weathered up as it would looks with scorch marks on the blast deflectors and salt marks etc! I love tomcats but these there only on the OK side the clip on wheels look old skool way of toy's than model's to me! I've built a few 1.48 scale Tomcats there an aircraft you have to get spot on to look really good as a model!
1/72 would be too big for this. Even 1/100 would be a bit of a stretch. . .
Wow hope these be available here in the Philippines
Where do you get this stuf from I want to get all the aircraft
Bounty hunters ,jolly rogers and sundowners
So this is just the deck and the bridge? No hull?
ahh CV 65.. its ENTERPRISE!
Wow💓
Felix the cat Vf31 was from an old cartoon
how about CT Scan machine ??????? are you also have it Sir
Looks all great except for the undercarriage of the Tomcat’s that looks a bit clumsy.
good day what a nice toys....how i wish you can give my kids as a gift this coming christmas....from philippines more subscriber and more blessing to come...
WHERE DID U BUY IT FROM
i'm so jealous of you right now
cool stuff and great detail on the planes but they failed miserably when they came to the landing gear/wheels. That was pretty bad.
Where's the Hull to complete kit?
great model, weathering would have made it perfect.......
KOSDET !
Where did you buy this! It’s sick!
www.forcesofvalor.com/product_grid.php?cid1=10&cid2=20&sid=7
Where’s Lt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell’s squadron?
It's called "the Island"
I would have loved this as a kid however as an adult collector the F-14 models are far to inferior with their poor mold, huge seems, exposed screws. There are far better 1-200 diecast Tomcats out there this just happens to be the only way to get a entire carrier deck. Not having the hull to the carrier gives this set a similar feel to the deck template used on a real carrier to arrange planes on its deck.
VF-84 The Jolly Roger's, Callsign Victory, Fear the Bones
The squadron in WW2 was Felix the bomb cat
Admirals Bridge? LOL Its just the Bridge. But still, cool set!! Just one gripe, where is VF-211Checkmates?!
Ya I know.. I just called it what they call it so people know what to search for.
@@MilitaryVehicleReviews Understood :D Still nice review!!
What is the brand of this??? Would like to find out if this is selling in Australia
Its by Forces of Valor: www.forcesofvalor.com/product_grid.php?cid1=10&cid2=20&sid=7
ITs Christmas already?
So this is actually a toy as opposed to a model ?
were did you get the mem
Here ya go www.forcesofvalor.com/product_grid.php?cid1=10&cid2=20&sid=7
What's the music please?
I remember this was all from an anime. They tried to paint real ones for an airshiw
As a Pukin Dog (VF-143), who married a Reaper (VF-101), who was also a Gypsy (VF-32 the Swordsmen), and helped decommission The Tophatters and Black Aces while working at FITWING, I have sooo got to get this. Hope they have 143, if not, I’ll have to make one. Though except for the nuts, 00 aircraft or CAG aircraft, I don’t recall them being a different grey, outside of just being dirty.
To bad it isn’t the Ike or Truman
And the “Playboy Tomcat” is still in existence, she is a display bird right inside of N.A.S. Oceana, last I saw she had on 143’s paint scheme, but it is the right BUNO for the playboy gal
And it’s unsweep the wings, not open the wing sweeps
Man , you're on amazing and crazy person that loves his toys ... Hahahahaha , you're cool Man😃😁😆😅🤣😂😋😜🤪🤤😵💫🤗.
Haha thank you!
Where do you get this and how much?
Heres the link: www.forcesofvalor.com/product_grid.php?cid1=10&cid2=20&sid=7
How much did this whole thing cost?
Heres the link: www.forcesofvalor.com/product_grid.php?cid1=10&cid2=20&sid=7
at 1/200, those aircraft should look a LOT better. And only one plane per squadron? guess it depends on what you're doing. O.o
Are the hull pieces available?
No they are not unfortunately.
@@MilitaryVehicleReviews Thats a bummer. Would make for an even more great model!
Would have to take some white paint to those catapults to make them stand out properly but not bad.
Thats a good idea 👍
Real catapults would never have a drop of white paint on them.
@@michaelmappin4425 a fair point. Counterpoint, you can clearly see the cats in every historical picture of Enterprise. This model doesn't show them as well.
@Timber Wolf I think you bring a strong argument to the table. I just think a light rust color would be best. White might just be too high vis.
@@michaelmappin4425 also fair.
なんだこれすげぇ
I'm that person who'd glue the planes & everything together, than hand it on the wall...
Thats actually a good idea… 🤔
I go for all full set.
Where to purchase?
Here ya go: www.forcesofvalor.com/product_grid.php?cid1=10&cid2=20&sid=7
A movie made this jet that killed more pilots then enemies a legend lol.
COOL BRO...🙂
I Love it...
How much...? 😅

HEY I LIKE THE JOLLY ROGERS !!!
Yeah, that’s Felix the cat, the wonderful wonderful cat that bomb was in his black bag of tricks…
